Recommended Posts

New Profession quests called Tools of the Trade are coming in Patch 8.1.5. They were first shown off at last year's BlizzCon and some of the items have been added to the game in the initial 8.1.5 build.

Tools of the Trade questlines provide players with powerful perks. While they haven't been enabled on PTR for playtesting yet, BlizzCon 2018 shed some light on the various items that players will be able to acquire in the upcoming content update. For example, Jewelcrafters will be able to remove an embedded gem from one of their socketed items and Blacksmiths will gain the ability to repair a piece of their equipment instantly, on a 1 hour cooldown, thanks to the Khaz'gorian Hammer.

The following Tools of the Trade items have been unveiled so far:

Alchemy

  • Silas' Sphere of Transmutation - "The sphere's surface swirls and shifts, showing different images for brief moments, never long enough to see what they actually are."
    • Use: Concentrate on the sphere to transmute it into another object for 1 hour.
    • Highlights and allows the player to interact with various cauldrons on Kul Tiras and Zandalar.

Blacksmithing

  • Khaz'gorian Hammer - "This hammer may be used in lieu of a normal blacksmith hammer for crafting."
    • Use: Allows the user to repair a piece of their equipment instantly. (1 Hr Cooldown)
    • When crafting blacksmithing armor or weapons, there's a chance it will be given the "Indestructible" property.

Enchanting

  • Iwen's Enchanting Rod - "Eldritch magic caused the rod to thrum with power. Can also serve as any lesser runed enchanting rod."
    • Use: Consume 1 Veiled Crystal to animate an inert golem. (10 Sec Cooldown)
    • Gain extra resources when disenchanting.

Engineering

  • Ub3r-Spanner
    • Use: Summons an Ub3r-Construct to assist the caster for 20 seconds. If no Ub3r-Construct is specified, a random one will appear. (15 Min Cooldown)
    • Enables the engineer to craft Ub3r-Constructs.

Inscription

  • Sanguine Feather Quill of Lana'thel - "It was never known if Lana'thel was the creator of the quill, or merely the inspiration behind its design."
    • Use: Siphons the blood of the dead around you, restoring your own health in the process.
    • Allows for the creation of Blood Contracts.

Jewelcrafting

  • Jewelhammer's Focus
    • Use: Using the focus, carefully extract an embedded gem from one of your socketed items.
    • Allows the holder to interact with shrines around Kul Tiras and Zandalar, focusing the light from the zone through the lens in order to create a geode of gems.

Leatherworking

  • Mallet of Thunderous Skins
    • Use: Summons a special mount which can only be ridden within Kul Tiras and Zandalar.
    • Allows the player to interact with special drums within Kul Tiras and Zandalar, granting them a buff for 1 hour.

Tailoring

  • Synchronous Thread - "A stitch in time saves the world from its demise."
    • Use: Allows Synchronous Tailors to mend tears in the fabric of time.
    • The threads of time sew cloth from past, present and future. Cloth displaced in time can be found more often in the world.

I'd be happier if they gave better crafting recipes for higher ilvl gear like they did with legendary crafted items instead of these "Tools". When season 2 hits, the 340 gear will be very obsolete and it will be hard to get any gold for any tradeskill.

I have no idea what this means.

Let's admit one can make more gold with WOD 132 ilvl crafted items.

the level restriction should be removed from the 310, to be able to wear at lvl 111. Simmilar to WoD.

So more stuff I'm locked away from having because I don't belong to a guild that can do mythics.  Tradeskills have completely sucked this expansion (and most expansions), and Mythic difficulty (and punishing people for not being in a guild that can run them) is one of the worst additions ever to the game.

Jester if you are Alliance, you are more than welcome to tag along with me as I tank mythic+9 and 10s in time each week. Don't need a guild to make friends and contacts for mythics/m+ runs!

There is nothing mythic mentioned in this post.

Wowhead comments for the Tailoring side of it are showing you can do Waycrest normal for the mats to create these.

We have a smaller batch today, but still on the large side, with plenty of item, profession and quest fixes, as well as some class changes and more.
      December 6 (Source)
      Classes
Death Knight Blood Fixed an issue with Voracious increasing Death Strike’s minimum heal by more than intended. Hunter Fixed an issue where enemies that were immune to the knockback from High Explosive Trap were still being affected by Binding Shackles. Priest Shadow Psyfiend health reduced to 4% of the Priest’s maximum health (down from 10%). Psyfiend is no longer immune to debuffs and channel effects. The channel duration of Psyflay from Psyfiend is now 12 seconds to match the creature’s duration. Creatures and NPCs
Fixed an issue where Enkine the Voracious could not be summoned. Dungeons and Raids
Halls of Infusion Fixed an issue that was preventing Death Knights from returning to the dungeon using Death Gate. Items and Rewards
Fixed an issue where if a player dies while equipped with the Primal Ritual Shell the chosen buff resets to wind. Adjusted the drop rates of Rousing Ire across all forms of content. In general, gathering should be providing substantially less, while participating in instanced PvP should be more rewarding. Dreamscape Prism now correctly increases your Mastery. Food buffs received from the Valdrakken Feast will no longer be cancelled when using your Hearthstone. The “Fully Ruby Feasted” debuff has been fixed to allow the players two simultaneous Ruby Feast buffs, and will no longer affect any of the cosmetics received from food here. Fixed an issue where trading Bundle O' Cards: Dragon Isles and Soggy Clump of Darkmoon Cards could cause the client to crash. Professions
The number of first-time crafts that can grant experience has been reduced to 30 (was 60). Developers’ note: We made this change to better support gaining XP from crafting during leveling, while minimizing the incentive to take on several throw-away professions just to level yourself faster. Fishing Fixed an issue where Tuskarr Fishing Holes were not available to players with Iskaara Tuskarr Renown rank 4 on the account and Dragon Isles Fishing. Quests
The Azure Span Made some backend changes to the Community Feast to reduce lag. Developers’ note: Please let us know if you see unusually high lag, particularly if it happens only in the Iskaara area, or if it only happens while the Community Feast event is occurring. Ohn’ahran Plains The quest boss for “The Field of Ferocity: Master of the Hunt!” should now behave properly when both left unengaged in combat and when being defeated. Thaldraszus Fixed an issue where players and NPCs were floating during the “Back to the Future” cinematic. Fixed an issue in “Cracks in Time” where the extra action button was not displaying while dragonriding. The Waking Shores Fixed an issue where Disgruntled Riverbeast Matriarch was not displaying the proper tooltip during “Wildlife Rescue.”

Blizzard have announced that they will be changing the way Bind on Equip items work in Mythic difficulty of Vault of the Incarnates in the first few weeks of Dragonflight Season 1.
      BoE (Source)
When the Vault of the Incarnates raid opens next week, enemies inside will occasionally drop Bind-on-Equip loot, as in previous raids. For early Season 1 play, we’re putting a restriction on BoEs that drop in Mythic difficulty.
For the first few weeks of Dragonflight Season 1, items that would have been Bind-on-Equip in lower difficulties will drop as Bind-on-Pickup items in Mythic difficulty. One of our goals with rewards has always been to primarily make the best loot in the game come through gameplay, rather than spending gold. Bind-on-Equip items from raids have long been exceptions to that, but they provide something unique to raiders: when raid groups don’t need the BoEs for progression anymore, they can be sold to fund consumables and repairs. In Dragonflight Season 1, Mythic difficulty is opening at the same time as other difficulties, a full week before players will have even opened the Vault for the first time, and Mythic BoEs represent more of a power increase than we wish to see available for gold.
Once a few weeks have passed, we’ll revise the items to drop as BoEs in Mythic difficulty. Please note that the second adjustment will not change already-acquired soulbound gear back into Bind-on-Equip. After that time, only new drops will be BoEs.
We’ll see you in Vault of the Incarnates next week!

The Chromie quest that has us falling through time eventually leads to the Black Empire days, and Senpai The Explorer stuck around a little longer in there to explore the zone!
While there's not that much to see in the extra exploration part, it's still one of the more interesting zones in WoW so it's definitely worth at least a skim through, and we can all take bets on whether Ragnaros of Mythrax wins that particular fight.
And if you prefer a shorter, image-based look, here's joey_crackpot to oblige:

Here's a really fast one, as Dragonflight brought a very helpful tool with it that helps fight, well, bugs in object placement, basically.
As spotted by think_brainblast, the interact key can actually be used to get at objects that are stuck in the scenery and are difficult or even impossible to get to, like ore or treasures. Keep in mind that the key orients itself based on camera position, not character position.
The other very useful function we've already covered is for fishing, as you can use the interact key to do it entirely without a mouse! And, of course, there's the basic and intended use for the key, as it lets you interact with quest givers, NPCs... well, everything really. Definitely give it a try if you haven't, as it's one of the most useful things added to WoW in quite a while.

Torghast doesn't scale to Level 70, which means it's easier now than ever to earn Tower Ranger and Flawless Master (Layer 16) achievements and the various rewards they offer.
If you returned to the game in Dragonflight but skipped Shadowlands, you should definitely clear Torghast.
The mobs in Torghast do not scale to Level 70, so getting the achievements won't take up much your time.  You can add multiple rewards including titles, a battle pet, and mounts to your collection, which is useful if you're working on Thanks for the Carry!.
Tower Ranger rewards the "Tower Ranger" title. Flawless Master (Layer 16) rewards Sturdy Gilded Mawrat Harness. Twisting Corridors: Layer 8 rewards Corridor Creeper. The Jailer's Gauntlet: Layer 4 rewards Sturdy Soulsteel Mawrat Harness.
