First, we all know you did not meet Michael anywhere.

Second, the merger happened nearly 20 years ago, so your timeline is waaaay off, and I doubt he was anywhere near to tears. I do not want to be mean about it, but your lie is pretty obvious. Stop spreading misinformation.

I got Pictures from like 10 years ago in leipzig *filtered*. But sure w/e

Your whole post is just verbal sewage. How is anybody supposed to agree or disagree with you, when we have no real idea what you are saying.

Though to kind of counter everything you said, this article did not even mention World of Warcraft, so maybe keep things on track instead of trying to share your stuff in an attempt to derail the topic? There are plenty of WoW forums and such that you can go to to vent your concerns.

this thread about blizzard going downhill and wow is a big part of that, instead of complaining i just tried giving some constructive criticism(look likes you prefer whining), no need to be rude !! (insight of a person like me who is about the leave blizzard while still in love with game might be usefull)

There are guilds out there I think you will find dont kick players for not attending raids or dungeons. The old RP servers will have guilds that focus on the guild as a community, not a means to getting m+/raid or pvp done.

Its not about the community, its just used to be yay i killed a new boss and got cool stuff, its now i killed a new boss and hmm my quest reward is still better ! (you can say getting stuff dosent matter but getting rewarded is a big part of any rpg game)

Been playing WoW since beta, also feel that game is dull and empty atm.

There is the big thing of lovely Blizzard becoming an empty shell, sucked out by the system it grew in. It was made by geeks it's destroyed by business boys.

I really love Blizzard, I would like them to remain the same.

I really love WoW, still the best PvP and raid content out there but the story became *filtered* and all this emptiness... I miss vanilla, TBC, WotLK, Legion.

First, from personal experience, Activision and EA are ruining it for everybody.

Blizzard is just fine without Activision, so stop trying to drag Blizzard down with them.

And Bioware was friggin sweet before EA stepped in and ruined it...so again, stop trying to drag the good guys down with the bad.

Though frankly I think Ubisoft is just out of touch, not in need of bankruptcy .

I agree on two things: first is that a good game will make good money, and the second is that good games can come from anywhere.

Wait what? lol Those great companies made horrible decisions getting in bed with *filtered* companies... so they can go down with the fire.. they put themselves there.

I'm really not too worried about this at this time and just going to wait till things play out.  This is not justification to 'abandon' ship and pick up another MMO or find other sources of gaming entertainment.  But this can be a lot worse......a whole lot worse.  Till the day(s) I start seeing Blizzard posting information like this then I will start to worry:

Game: SWOTR

Hey folks,

Right now I don’t believe there are any plans for a formal roadmap in the coming weeks. To calm any concerns, that isn’t because there isn’t stuff happening this year, but we have been making an effort to give you more visibility into content sooner via PTS. With that in mind, here are some details:

  • 5.10.1 is on PTS now, which you already know. That will come out in the next couple of weeks, more details on timing this week.
  • After 5.10.1 is out the door, look for details on 5.10.2 going to PTS.
  • We are still locking down details so I can’t announce anything just yet, but we fully intend to be at SW Celebration this year. Which seems like a great place to reveal more details on what is coming this year.

Thanks all.

-eric

Played SWOTR for almost a full year and loved the unique storylines for the Republic and Empire classes.  It has poor optimization to this very day.  A Cash Shop with over 50 tabs of cosmetic items selling from $5-55 and up (one of the unique lightsaber xmog can cost over $50).  Along with very limited content to play.  And when I mean limited content there is not a true expansion to this game.  There recent update that was released by EA/Bioware was about 1 hr long worth of new story content, 1 new map, and 7-8 new daily quests.  And that was released back in early December 2018 their previous PvE content before that was around April/May with the introduction of 1 new Raid (They only have 7 or so Raids in the entirety of the game with 20+ dungeons to choose from their years worth of content).  Players may have to wait months to years before new content is released.

It’s like a self fulfilling prophecy with publishers these days.  Make really bad decisions on how to screw over the player base.  Make cuts internally that see’s the quality of games go down.  Lose more player base.  Announce a mobile game in the hopes of placating the playerbase.  Lose even more player base.  Profits down (notice “down”. Profits are still being made but not “enough”).  Rank and file employees lose jobs, executives stay though (you know, the ones that made the bad decisions in teh first place).  Game quality continues to plummet.  Profit?

This cannot be said more succinctly.

One. Single.

Two. 2. A pair. A couple.

3-5 is a few

7-11 is several

10+ is a decade, not a few years. You got caught, deal with it.

First you posted "few years ago", now it's "10 years ago". Besides, exactly 10 years ago was still a bit before the merger (it was about to happen), plus Blizzard never actually merged as it already has been a subsidiary company of Vivendi Games long before that. Their parent company did merge.

Anyway, very sad if those layoffs are true. Interesting if it's going to affect their current games.

Its the Diablo curse.... they shouldn't have left Diablo fans behind and even joke with their news about DI..... It serves them well.... That will be a blow hard to recover.....

I do not agree.

The "the games only got worse because of EA / Activision" perspective is way too black and white.

Sure, some decisions that made the games worse was because of EA / Activision.

However, Blizzard + Bioware are not the victims. They are part of the problem too IMO.

No one forced them to write horrible dialogue, stories that bore you to death, characters you forget the moment you met them. (I still now tons of characters of BG2, Kotor, DA1, Mass Effect 1. But the new characters from DA:I? No idea.)

Ot cutscenes that are technically well made, but are completly without heart and sould - and that why boring and uninteresting.

Well, if the Democrats wouldn't have voted for (probably) the only person in the whole USA that could loose against Trump, they would have won the election easily.

But what do you expect, if you nominate Hillary Clinton?

Sorry, they deserved to loose.

And if I would have to choose between those two I would have voted for Trump too. Like I said, maybe the only person in the USA that Trump had a chance to win against. Large parts of the country was fed up with the establishment. And the democrats had no better sense then to elect the one person who represents the establishment like no one else on the whole planet. Did they WANT to loose the election? Are they that dumb that they have not the slightest idea what the majority of people think/want?

In any case: Great job...

Well considering who won the popular vote...

Would hope the bulk of it is destiny 2 personel (since that game's pretty much doomed atm).   But I'll bet they cut -even more- customer service/GMs (are there still living GMs?) and try to replace it with more automation, with like 5 guys to answer a miles long phone queue of people who get past the red tape and put on hold.

Bungie has separated from Activision, so that wouldn't be possible.

fire them all. fire them all for slander. stop trying to make a video game in every genre just because some other company already is making a profit from that genre. hots is so bad it's ridiculous. i'm surprised blizzard didn't make a minecraft knock-off called BlizCraft.

Blizzard is co-developing Diablo Immortal with NetEase Inc. and the company's Chief Financial Officer Yang Zhaoxuan told analysts during a conference call that the game is ready from their perspective, according to Bloomberg reports.
Blizzard announced Diablo Immortal at last year's BlizzCon. Reveal of Blizzard's first mobile game sparked a lot of controversy and hate among PC fans, because obviously, everyone among the hardcore PC gamer audience at BlizzCon was expecting Diablo IV, but that's a story for another day...

Blizzard has been working with NetEase Inc to develop and launch Diablo Immortal primarily in China, where these types of games are particularly popular and NetEase's CFO said the following during a conference call to analysts:
Diablo Immortal is pretty much ready for release and Blizzard is currently polishing the game for a global release that is slated for later this year.
Are you looking forward to playing the game?

Blizzard has been hard at work to localize all their websites into Nerglish, the language of Murlocs.
The second April Fools joke revolves around a java script that translates any website into Nerglish. Click here to try it out!

One benefit of countless failed attempts at establishing peaceful relations with various murloc tribes is that we have finally unlocked the secrets of Nerglish syntax and grammar. Thanks to this breakthrough in human-to-murloc communication, murlocs everywhere will now be able to engage with their human counterparts on equal footing.
