Patch 8.2: Benthic Gear from Nazjatar

Recommended Posts

MfExVzq.jpg

Blizzard added new Benthic tokens to the game in the latest Patch 8.2 build to make gearing up easier while in Nazjatar. This article goes through Benthic gear, item effects, and upgrading.

Benthic Gear Tokens

Benthic tokens are similar to Relinquished tokens in Legion and they're here to provide a gear catchup. The base item level is 385. All slots except for weapons, trinkets, and rings are available. Helm, Shoulders, and Chest pieces obviously provide Azerite gear. The intro quest to the Benthic system will provide you with one piece of ilvl 385 Benthic gear which you're going to upgrade to ilvl 400.

Benthic Gear has predetermined stats and there's no RNG involved.

The following tokens can be purchased from Artisan Itanu (Alliance) or Finder Palta (Horde) in Nazjatar for 5 Nazjatar Manapearls:

Benthic Gear (ilvl 385) can also come from Nazjatar World Quests (Source).

Finder Plata <Treasures of the Unshackled> vendor in Nazjatar. She sells gear tokens for Nazjatar Manapearls, a new currency rewarded from various activities in Nazjatar.

Buffs

Benthic Gear comes with interesting effects in various slots:

  • Trader's Stock Trader's Stock - You have access to the Murloc traders' special stocks.

Feet

Hands

  • Elemental Instincts Elemental Instincts - You are more likely to find strange resources related to Mardivas.
  • Shadow Resistance Shadow Resistance - Shadow damage taken is reduced by 2% while in Nazjatar and The Eternal Palace.

Legs

  • Seabed Runner Seabed Runner - Your Speed is increased by 95 while in Nazjatar and the Eternal Palace.
  • Swimmer's Legs Swimmer's Legs - You are 5% larger while in Nazjatar and The Eternal Palace.

  • Intra-Ocean Navigation Intra-Ocean Navigation - Your swim speed is increased in Nazjatar and The Eternal Palace by 5%.

Upgrading Benthic Gear

The base item level of Benthic items is 385, but you can upgrade them all the way up to item level 415 by talking to Voidbinder Zorian, who will:

  • Empower a Benthic item from Nazjatar, making it Pearled aind increasing its item level to 400 for 20 Nazjatar Manapearl.
  • Empower a Pearled item from Nazjatar, increasing its item level by 5 up to a maximum of 415 for 10 Nazjatar Manapearls per upgrade.
  • Empower a Pearled Azerite item from Nazjatar, increasing its item level by 15, up to a maximum of 415 for 30 Nazjatar Manapearls.

Upgrade tokens listed below have been removed from the Quartermaster. The upgrade process is now handled by a NPC.

Yes this is how alt gearing should be. The ability to bring a fresh alt to raid ready level just by playing on your main. Doing WQ to slowly gear isnt fun and not everyone has a guild group to carry their alt through M+

Did I miss something?  The containers are BoP and the items are BoP.  You'll still have to do it via playing the alt.  The only upside is that you won't have to gradually scale it up.

this is exactly the opposite of how it should be..

get heroic lvl loot for every character by afk farming

WoW realy has become like a loot shooter ......

The Pearling Kits said BoA for me. Way I saw it was you could buy them on your main and send them to an alt after your alt got the gear to just level up the gear.

Stop being critical? This is literally how the legendaries worked at the end of legion.

First of all you have no idea how many it will take to deck out a whole charcter in heroic level gear. However long it takes though, even 1 piece of gear will be a boost. You call it afk farming but thats better than what it currently takes to gear an alt alone. Get to 120, do a few M0s for 370 gear, then WQ slowly to gradually get up to 385 and do normal, then heroic. No one takes you for an M+10 when youre below ilvl 400.

With this method im able to essentially just get the gear then upgrade it from my main. Its easier and less time consuming. If i wanted to spend as much time gearing the alt as my main id play the alt when the content released.

Hey! Sorry for getting back to you this late. The tokens are Bound to account, so I'm sure you can send them over to your alts. There's been a change to the maximum ilvl of the upgrade tokens, they're down to ilvl 415 (from 430). I've reviewed this post and it should be up to date with what we currently have on 8.2 PTR.

Handy. That'll give me a way to gear my alts and my new mains.

I could also use the seafarers dabloon tokens but i'm saving 4 the mounts

There are two sides of this argument in the above post to consider. First, people are against this being BoA because they don't want to see fresh alts in a raid with all welfare gear expecting to get carried. I can see this argument as when we were running raids in previous expansions you would constantly see people with the expansions catch up gear trying to get pug spots by saying they had high item level but it was all token gear. However, there is also the opposing argument of using this to gear new alts for current content. When you hit max level on a new character if you cannot get into current content because of gear you are expected to progress through old content just to get to current content questing which is very deflating when it comes to just wanting to play the game. No progression raid is going to take a fresh 120 in token gear, however if you need a X role for a raid and that new alt could fill in then it may be viable. I currently have 33 120s but I also know that I will want to play the new zones on all or most of them so whether or not the gear is BoA I will end up with it anyway.

Blizzard has released a new cinematic coming in Patch 10.2.7. At the heart of the cinematic is the Dark Heart and we see familiar faces like Jaina, Alleria, and certain mage we haven't seen for a while, so let's dive in and explore!
    • By Starym
We have a big and mixed batch today, from 10.2.6's raid and dungeon improvements, to legendary item upgrade fixes, the Amber Skitterfly Trading Post mount working properly, as well as Cataclysm Classic archaeology site removals, Season of Discovery class tuning, and plenty more!
      May 1 (Source)
      Dungeons and Raids
Aberrus (Awakened) Fixed an issue that caused Thadrion to continually cast Unstable Essence after the encounter had concluded. Nokhud Offensive Addressed a Primalist Thunderbeast issue where Thunderstrike’s target is not correctly reflected in the unit frame. Items
Amber Skitterfly should now appear in the Mount Collection for players who purchased it from the Trading Post. Legendary items can now be upgraded as intended on the Awakened track. Fixed a bug preventing legendary item upgrades from receiving appropriate stone/crest discounts. Quests
Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the world quest “Zaqali Elders” to fail to start. Cataclysm Classic
Archaeology digsites that appear in Uldum, Twilight Highlands, and Hyjal once players hit 450 Archaeology should no longer appear until the zones are accessible on official Expansion Launch. Paladin Fixed an issue with Seals of Command where Seal of Righteousness could trigger too many procs when it hits multiple targets. Season of Discovery
Hunter Raptor Fury now increases the damage done of Raptor strike and Mongoose Bite by 10% per stack (was 15%). The Beast Mastery rune now increases pet damage by 10% (was 20%). Shaman The Burn rune now also grants a significant bonus to spell power when Flametongue Weapon is imbued on your weapon. Rolling Thunder now has a 50% chance to trigger (was 30%). Fixed a bug causing overload procs to not add a charge to Lightning Shield when the Shaman has the Rolling Thunder rune active. Warlock Invocation now also applies to Unstable Affliction. Invocation damage can now deal critical strikes if the Warlock also has the Pandemic rune active.

Here we are taking a look at the very first week of Season 4. Mythic+ didn't have quite the same level of upheaval as raids, but it did get a new dungeon rotation and some class changes, so let's dive into the results.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
Augmentation and Fire continue their ever-struggle at the top, with the Evoker coming out on top, just barely. The top 3 basically remained unchanged from last season, with Shadow sticking to bronze, but we do see a change immediately after that, with Destruction rising 4 spots. Outlaw remains stable as well, only droping  one spot, but we have a big change beneath it, as Frost Mage busts 10 spots up to claim 6th. Subtlety is climbing its way back from the very low 19th it sat in during Season 3, claiming the most-improved award with its 12 spot leap! Elemental gained 5 spots in 8th, while Arms is one of only two specs that remained stable in the top 10, followed by Demonology losing 3 spots in 10th. The two A's of Affliction and Assassination still find themselves down in the bottom 3, this time joined by a different Hunter, as Survival takes Marksmanship's place.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
Fire holds on to it's throne in the generalist bracket, holding both Augmentation and Shadow at bay. Subtlety sits even higher here, moving 11 spots up into 5th, just behind its fellow Rogue, which remains stable in 4th. The Warlocks join the Rogues in pairing up, with Destruction moving a huge 14 spaces up into 6th! Frost Mage is also much improved, and we find two Fyr'alath wielders at the end of the top 10.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
Destruction makes its way to the very top in the raw DPS charts, gaining 6 spots and eclipsing its fellow Warlock. Shadow makes a small one spot move up, while Beast Mastery makes a huge one, 10 spots up in 4th, followed by an equally impressive Elemental with 7 up. We find the former No.1 down in 6th, followed by a rising Windwalker and Marksmanship, with the Hunter gaining 11 spots. Frost Mage "only" gains 8, just ahead of Arms, which closes out the top 10. We have three A's at the bottom here, but that's just due to Augmentation's logging errors, so it's actually Frost DK that joins the bottom 3.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

      All Percentiles Tank (Points)
The tanks are quite stable as usual, but we do see Blood take 2nd away from Paladin, and that's pretty much it. Vengeance pulls even further away, as it continues to dominate.
Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Healer (Points)
Healers actually got some class tuning with the new season, and we see a new No.1 as a result, with Druid coming out on top. Paladin and Preservation are also much-improved, both moving 2 spots up, which is a very big move with only 7 specs present. Shaman finds its way to the bottom, joined by Holy Priest, as both find themselves on the losing side of that 2-spot jump.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs and u.gg. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides, as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

Another Trading Post rotation has come, as May brings a lot of flower-themed items, two mounts, two pets, a butterfly back customization, and a lot more. MrGM dives into everything in the Trading Post, including the returning items that were skipped in the official preview.
The Amber Skitterfly is a little bugged in the game at the moment, as it throws up a Lua error when selecting it (with players even reporting not receiving the mount when buying it), but there's plenty more to get, from the Royal Swarmer mount, to a pretty cool cape, and plenty of returning cosmetics as well.
And if you missed it and prefer images instead, you can also check out the official preview here.

Grimtusk Fishing Hole, one of the requirements to unlock Taivan, is available this week on live servers!
Players who are working on unlocking Good Boy's Leash probably know the Grimtusk Fishing Hole has not been available since the first week of Patch 10.2.6. However, it is available now for the whole week, so you can complete it to get credit towards Taking From Nature.

Head to the Fyrakk Assault area in Azure Span (59 34) and complete the Net Worth quest offered by Gruff Fisher.
If you can't see the quest chances are you don't have access to Ice Fishing.
I'm not really an avid fisher myself, but one player suggests you should have the Secret Fishing Spots  first before completing this quest, but those farming Taivan will possibly know.
Ice Fishing (available at Renown 6 with Iskaara Tuskarr) requires you to craft an Iskaaran Ice Axe. To do that, you must loot Pickaxe Blade at 19 24 in Azure Span. If you're using TomTom here are the exact coords where you'll find the item:
      /way #2024 19 24
