Tavern Brawl: Nefarian Rises!

Everyone loves cooperative Brawls! You get to work with another player (who is totally not trying to undermine you at all) towards a noble goal. This time, it's beating Nefarian.

This is the third time this Tavern Brawl is around. It's exactly the same as the two previous times, with the only difference that Thrall is replaced by Morgl.

So you and your partner start as either Priest or Shaman with premade decks. Nefarian is a 0/200 minion with Taunt that will switch board sides each turn. At the start of each turn, he will also cast annoying spells (that scale in power during each of his phases) like "deal x damage randomly split to all other characters", "deal x damage to a hero" and "deal x damage to a minion and its owner" - or just swapping your hands.

At 160 Health Nefarian gives himself 5 Attack and casts the spell ‘Elemental Eruption‘ that does 4-6 damage to all other minions.

At 60 Health Nefarian goes to 10 Attack and casts the spell ‘Twisted Light‘ that does 30 damage to all other minions and heals himself for 30. During this phase, if Nefarian is not able to switch sides due to a full opposing board, he will automatically destroy every minion on that side of the board using a special effect

You win the Brawl when you kill Nefarian, which will award you with a Classic pack.

I was able to win by filling the board. Nefarian was somewhere between 60 and 100 health. As I ended my turn, he should have come to my side of the board, but my side was full, so he couldn't, and we won. I don't know if this was intended or not.

Wut, I avoided this situation specifically because in almost every single brawl before the boss would simply fully clear your board and move in if you'd fill it. Guess its a bug..

This is not a bug.

He says "No, I will destroy you" and you see a -1000 above him.

Then he dies.

At least that happens if he is in his last phase, I guess it won't work if he is in Phase 1 or 2.

That's weird, though, and it shouldn't happen. Like stated in the article (which was based on old info) the previous two times this Brawl was around, he cleared the board if there was no room to swap sides to at the last phase.

It's either a bug or they intentionally changed this to make the encounter easier.

Blizzard released the 17.2.2 client patch for Hearthstone to fix a bug related to the closed shop that occurred due to a missing runtime dependency.
      (Source)
We’re currently in the process of deploying a 17.2.2 client patch that will address the following items:
Fixed a bug that would cause a crash on mobile when clicking the eye to see who is spectating. Fixed a few various issues that would lock the game state when playing certain cards from hand. Fixed a bug where some players in Europe were only given the option of Warrior as their free deck after graduating the new player ranks. Fixed a bug where the shop would be closed when launching Hearthstone due to a missing runtime dependency. If the shop is still closed after updating to 17.2.2, try swapping to another region on the launcher and swapping back before opening Hearthstone again.
The incorrect Mana display bug for mobile users will be fixed in the next update.

A new blog post has been released, detailing a dozen card changes coming to the game on Monday 18th of May.
Shaman is getting some much needed help, since three of its cards will be buffed - although it is debatable if these buffs will be enough to move the class out of the bottom.
As far as the nerfs are concerned, two more Demon Hunter cards (who would have thought?) are getting toned down. Scavenger's Ingenuity, Shadowjeweler Hanar, Blackjack Stunner, Imprisoned Scrap Imp, Bloodboil Brute, Bloodsworn Mercenary are also getting tweaked.
Nerfed cards will be eligible for a refund until June 1st.
The patch also brings a bug fix for Ethereal Conjurer, which was causing the game to lock by not offering any Discover options.
Don't forget you can grab a free Nemsy until May 19, as part of Patch 17.2.0.
