Vault Hunter Previews: Moze with Iron Bear Mech

Recommended Posts

eywic2z.jpg

We recently saw the third Vault Hunter at E3 where Gearbox showed off the Gunner, Moze and her lovely friend the Iron Bear mech! She's possibly the most interesting of the Vault Hunter's we've seen so far (and possibly more than Flak, who we haven't), due to the nature of her action skill, the summoned Iron Bear mech. We're going to be taking a look at all of her skill trees, action skills and more in detail in this preview. So far it seems Moze is the most group-centered of the classes, with many skills that affect the party and her mech even being able to carry another player!

sVCDpGV.jpg

Let's just start with some TLDR highlights of the class, with various interesting features taken from all the skill trees:

  • Summon mech and immediately jump in, selecting 2 of 6 different weapons
  • Railguns, miniguns, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, powered fists, each with their own set of augments
  • Mech punch pulls enemies to you, punches as long as you hold down the mouse
  • Mech stays out after you exit, attacking and eventually suicide charging enemies and exploding
  • Manable turret for co-op partners
  • Grenade focus for Moze, crits with grenades, grenades in fight for your life mode, higher capacity, regeneration
  • Ammo regeneration
  • Sprint and shoot at the same time
  • Party buffs

Stepping aside from Moze for a second, we also had a pretty awesome new trailer for the game showcased at E3, so let's take a look:

As already mentioned, Moze's action skill is summoning the Iron Bear mech which she immediately hops into. The entire class is based around the mech and her three skill trees revolve around different weapons for it. The mech also has fuel that is consumed when moving and firing weapons and it's duration ends when you spend all the fuel (although you can end it before that to get some cooldown back). Each tree has various buffs for moze herself but the main focus is the mech's two "hardpoints" aka his two arms where you can mount different weapons. Each tree has two weapons you can place there, and you can double up on them too - each tree gives you access to two of these weapons: railgun + bear fist, minigun + flamethrower, grenade launcher + rocket launcher. The other new feature in BL3 is augments to actions skills and in Moze's case that comes in the form of modifiers to her mech's weapons, giving them more fuel efficiency or changing the elemental damage type of the weapon and a lot more.

borderlands-3-v1-589059.jpg

Now, you can have any combination of these weapons, including two miniguns, but using weapons from different trees will make you less efficient. You can always invest in non-mech skills so you don't lose out though, but that seems like a bit of a waste. Very early on it won't really matter which weapons you use on the mech as you won't have that many augments and skills that enhance them, so you'll be able to experiment, but in the mid to late game you'll want to pick a tree so you can get the full benefits of your chosen tree. We don't really know how many skillpoints we'll have at the end (there are 50 levels total, but we don't know if there will be additional skillpoints to be gained elsewhere - probably not), so it's possible that endgame builds will be combining trees and weapons/augments from those trees as well.

But let's get into the actual skill trees themselves, shall we (we won't be covering ALL the skills, or very specific numbers, just the more interesting and thematic ones - if you want a complete overview of absolutely everything, head to the bottom of the article).

Shield of Retribution
Shield related skills for Moze and mech, party buffs, railgun and bear fist on mech

Both the mech and Moze get skills that add or interact with shields in some way.

Moze: remove health to increase shields for Moze; 40% shields back the first time it's depleted after a full recharge; shield regeneration on critical kills; increased gun damage and reduced incoming dmg while shields are up; increased shield capacity and reduced shock dmg; reduced recharge delay + increased rate; stacking extra shield on kill (and gun damage).

Mech: gets a 20% shield that regenerates normally; activating the mech starts regening everyone's shields at an increased rate.

Then we have some party buffs: when Moze reloads she takes a little damage and gives fire damage to her and party members; when killing an enemy Moze's fire rate is reduced, but gun damage is increased for her and allies.

And finally there's the weapon augments, which you can have one of for each weapon slot/hardpoint.
Augments, railgun: deals fire damage and uses more fuel; chains damage to additional enemies; has reduced fuel drain, extra magazine size and shots explode after a short time.
Augments, bear fist: deals splash elemental damage; pulls enemies to mech; has rapid fire, punches as long as you hold + reduced fuel drain.

Bottomless Mags
Co-op player turret, ammo regen, fuel efficiency, minigun and flamethrower on mech

The minigun has an overheat gauge which causes it to cease functioning if it overheats and the flamethrower has infinite ammo but consumes additional fuel. This one has the turret on the mech that another player can hop on to for safety and for some bullet spraying action as well! It also has the most interesting skill so far, in terms of systems at least, with one that increases magazine size for Moze and reduces heat for the minigun for each piece of gear Moze has equipped from the same manufacturer. So if you're sporting 4 Jakobs guns and an Anshin grenade mod and shield, you'll be getting a lot of bonuses there.

Moze: both Moze and the mech can have bullets that don't spend ammo and deal additional fire damage; ammo regeneration after each crit; sprint and shoot at the same time; infinite ammo for 5 secs after exiting mech (remember you can exit the mech before it's run out, not sure if it works with rocket launchers); more gun damage as the magazine is lower; constant ammo regeneration for currently equipped weapon.

Mech: adds a manned turret to the back of the mech (for co-op players); increased damage when equipping two of the same weapon.

Augments, minigun: more damage as it fires longer, can be fired longer; cryo damage, reduced damage, fuel and heat consumption; explosive rounds with splash damage, reduced fire rate.
Augments, flamethrower: less fuel consumption, increased move speed after damaging enemy; corrosive damage, "Melt" damage increased (not sure what that is); fires 3 shot burst, first shot leaves fire puddle.

ImUicDi.png

Demolition Woman
Splash damage, grenades, longer lasting and faster CD for mech, grenade and rocket launcher on mech

The rocket launcher is pretty random by default, with it's missiles just flying around all over the place before it gets augmented, so it's a weird one, but very visually impressive.

Moze: chance to double size of splash damage; splash damage can return ammo and grenades; critical hits for grenades; increased grenade carry capacity; restore health for every enemy hit with a  grenade; splash damage reduces mech cooldown; whenever Moze deals gun damage there's a chance of an additional explosion with splash damage.

Mech: less fuel consumption for weapons + fuel regen when killing enemy; reduce mech cooldown when killing enemy; more mech health and fuel; grenades in fight for your life mode, if you revive you get a grenade back.

Augments, grenade launcher: direct hits deal more damage; every 7th grenade is a singularity grenade (pulls everyone to it); 5 round burst and increased reload speed.

Augments, rocket launcher: 6 homing rockets with increased reload speed; reduced damage and 6 rocket spread, but debuffs enemy to receive more damage from every source; fires 1 big nuke dealing increased radiation damage.

For a much more detailed look into ALL of Moze's skills, check out this video that goes over all of them:

And there you have it, Moze is the third revealed Vault Hunter, with Zane and Amara before her and Flak coming a bit later. I hope this overview was helpful, but do let me know how to improve the format in the future and especially if I missed something about Moze that's interesting. Obviously if you're not familiar with the Borderlands games this preview may have been a bit too in-depth, but we'll have a full summary of all of Borderlands 3's new features soon(ish), as it's taking a bit longer to cover and new info is constantly released.

Thank you so much for covering Borderlands content as well. I am looking forward to this game, and try to keep up with the stream of information. But to see it covered and summarized here, keeps my mind at peace ?

Soon will do a 4player couch coop BL2 weekend with my buddies. This will be hell of fun, even though i played through all of it at least 10 times already. To keep the hype for BL3 going.

That game looks so insanely good. I believe it will be like the gigantic leap from BL1 to BL2 :'D

I am glad you cover Borderlands 3!

Borderlands is a very interesting game for me and I am glad to get information here.

This new Vault-Hunter looks really great. There is just one problem (well, not in general, just my personal problem): Will this Vault-Hunter still be good if playing solo or playing in small team with only one friend?

If yes I am quite sure I have found the Vault-Hunter I'll play. ?

I already said it before, but I want to stress again how much I like that you start covering not only Blizzard-Games. There are so many great games out there and to be honest: If I have to name 10 games I am looking forward in the next years or 10 games I especially enjoyed in the last 2 years  - there isn't a single Blizzard game on this list.

Borderlands 3 is a great choice! And with your tag-system everybdoy realizies with one look if the topic is of interest to him. And if somebody isn't interested in BL 3 he can just ignore those threads.

Let's just start with some TLDR highlights of the class, with various interesting features taken from all the skill trees:

  • Summon mech (...)
  • Ammo regeneration
  • Sprint and shoot at the same time
  • Party buffs

And each character (besides Fl4k, which we havn't seen yet) has some sort of party buff. If you can always play with someone, it will be worth it, to focus on those.  Like Amara (whom i will play the heck out of) has an effect, that when she tetheres enemies with her phaselock, they get more damage from all sources. Thats insine damage, if you always play with four. If you want to play for the team, i think all of them are valid. And if Moze is the most interesting to you, go for it.

The thing i am most excited about is, that all of the characters utilize the skill system in different ways. It's an insanely varied improvement, compared to BL2. Like Amara can choose to change her skill in total, having like 7or8 different skills to choose, instead of three, and picks a modifier which can alter any of the abilities, and one passive. Zane can choose to use 2 different abilities and modify each of them with so many different ways. And Moze here, can choose 2 of any of the weapons she unlocks in the trees for her mech, each of them altering the way the mechshooting feels, in a big way. I am just blown away by the variations that are possible. AND on top of that there is the skill tree. it's insane.

I'm 100% sure she will be fine in solo. The only truly major thing she has that benefits more people is the mech turret if you spec it, and that  one's actually perfect for 2 players. I'd say it's main feature is the immunity you get if you step into it (i'm assuming the other player also gets the mechs protection), so it's a pretty amazing "oh *filtered*" type thing where your fellow player yells at you to save their *filtered* ans summon the mech ?

Amazing looking. Now we just need to wait for it to not be Epic Games exclusive and wait for 6 months to possibly be on Steam.

I'll wait for Steam too.

I do not hate the Epic-Store, but I prefer Steam.

And most important: The last years have shown, that there are lot of games that are much better a few weeks / month after release.

Less bugs. Improvements in FPS, questlog, stuff like that.

Additional content.

There is no harm in waiting a few month.

The big February update is live now and we have the patch/horfix notes! In addition to the level cap increase, Broken Hears Day event, skippable cutscenes, True Takedown mode and toggleable Guardian ranks we talked about yesterday the update also brings a lot more stability and performance improvements, as well as a lot of other bug fixes.
      February 13 (source)
Today we will release an update for Borderlands 3, which will be live on all platforms today by 3:00 PM PST, that addresses multiple community requests such as skippable cutscenes, Guardian Rank toggles, a level cap increase, and kicks off the week-long Broken Hearts Day Event!
Hotfixes are applied at the main menu. To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign appear. If you are experiencing any issues or want to provide feedback, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com. Below are the notes for today’s patch and hotfixes.
      PATCH NOTES
      Broken Hearts Day Event
Maurice, your sentient Saurian shipmate on Sanctuary III, is continuing his study of humanity’s customs, and has taken an interest in our strange courting rituals. To help him understand the emotional rollercoaster that is Broken Hearts Day, you’ll need to blast the floating hearts that are popping up over baddies’ heads all over the galaxy. Maurice will reward you with sweet Broken Hearts Day loot for your trouble, including two level 53 weapons: Terminal Polyaimorous and Wedding Invitation!
      Event Toggle
For the Vault Hunter who already has everything, or prefers their gameplay to be more straightforward, you can now disable the Broken Hearts Day Event in the main menu. This highly requested feature will be included for all future seasonal events as well.
      Skippable Cutscenes
With this patch, you can now skip all cutscenes in the game, whether you’ve seen the cutscene before or not, during solo play or by the host of your party during multiplayer! Simply press any key during the scene and you’ll be prompted to confirm the skip.
      Level Cap increased to 53
The level cap has been increased to 53, providing everyone with 3 more skill points to aim for! We are looking forward to seeing what interesting combinations the community finds with their additional skills and will have more to talk about in the future concerning level cap increases and character growth.
      True Takedown Mode
We’re introducing True Takedown Mode to the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. As of this patch, there will be a way to re-enable the original version of the Takedown scaled to 4 players. Future Takedowns will also launch with both modes enabled.
The default setting keeps the Takedown scaled depending on how many people are in your party. To turn back on 4-player scaling, toggle the new switch to the right of the Takedown door.
      Guardian Ranks
You are now able to turn off individual Guardian Ranks or the whole system! If there are any perks that aren’t playing nice with your builds, you can now disable them! Furthermore, for those who want to enjoy a vanilla leveling experience, you have the ability to disable the entire system. This includes both stat bonuses and all perks.
When the patch goes live, the Guardian Rank system will be turned off by default, giving you a great opportunity to look through your perks to see if there’s anything new you want to try! Note: while the Guardian Rank system is turned off, you will not be able to gain ranks.
      Stadia
With this patch, Stadia is now caught up to the other platforms! Stadia players can now access Moxxi’s Heist of The Handsome Jackpot, fight through Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite, and take advantage of the QOL improvements that were included in previous patches.

Borderlands' own Valentine's Day event, Broken Hearts Day, is coming tomorrow, February 13th and it's bringing with it a whole lot of changes. We'll be seeing a 3 level increase with additional skillpoints to use, a toggle for the event itself, the True Takedown mode which brings the raid content back to it's original difficulty, skippable cutscenes, toggleable Guardian ranks and more. We also get to hear about some upcoming improvements in the March patch, including Mayhem 2.0 and FFYL improvements.

You can also check out the full details of the Broken Hearts Day event at the bottom of the post.
      February 13th Patch (source)
Hey Vault Hunters! With Valentine's Day (and our own Broken Hearts Day seasonal event) right around the corner, we thought now might be a nice time to pause, reflect, and express our sincere gratitude to all of you with a little love note.
Borderlands 3's launch was a historic high note for both Gearbox and 2K, and that simply would not have been possible without your support. Your incredible response was overwhelming, so really, from the bottom of our hearts: thank you. Your enthusiasm validates all the time, energy, and passion we poured into this project, and it fuels us still—because we're not done yet!
We've been hard at work since launch crafting additional content and updating the existing game. It's been a tricky, trying process at times, but we're committed to making Borderlands 3 the best possible Borderlands experience. Today, we'd love to take a moment to look back on everything we've added or updated since launch and, more importantly, outline what's still to come for Borderlands 3—including a bunch highly requested quality-of-life enhancements in the February patch.
      Let's get started!
      A Quick Look Back...
Since Borderlands 3's release in September, we've worked hard to pack the game with additional content and improve player experience based on your feedback. Here's a quick look at just some of what we've done so far.

      Developer Roadmap
Now that we've looked at how much has happened in Borderlands 3 to date, it's time we look to the future with another developer roadmap, giving you insight into new features and improvements you can look forward to in the coming weeks. Please note that there can always be unforeseen challenges when working on patches and hotfixes, so we'll share more concrete release timings as these updates progress.
      True Takedown Mode
In the Borderlands 3 Hotfixes for January 30, we shared our plans for True Takedown Mode now that Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite scales to your party size by default. True Takedown Mode delivers the extreme difficulty we always intended for Takedown content by tuning the experience for a full party of four decked-out Vault Hunters. To access True Takedown Mode, simply activate the lever located on the right side of the door leading out of the airlock at the beginning of the map. Remember, this is meant to be some of the most challenging content in all of Borderlands 3, so don't get discouraged if your team keeps getting wrecked in True Takedown Mode when it goes live in the February patch.
      Level Cap Increase
For the first level cap increase, we're currently planning to raise the maximum Vault Hunter level from 50 to 53, timed with the debut of Broken Hearts Day. This will give you three additional skill points to add to your skill trees, allowing you to enhance your existing builds or even experiment with additional abilities. To plan out your updated Vault Hunter builds, check out the skill tree builders on our character pages for Amara the Siren, FL4K the Beastmaster, Moze the Gunner, and Zane the Operative! We'll have more information about future level cap increases later, and intend to make any level cap increases free additions to the game.
      Performance and Stability
We're continuing to work on Borderlands 3 for all platforms. With each of the coming patches, you can expect some updates to enhance the player experience. The next round of UI improvements will come with the second campaign add-on. Community feedback has been instrumental in shaping these improvements, so if you encounter any issues, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com.
      Skippable Cutscenes Update
Skippable in-game cutscenes are coming soon! We're in the process of testing this feature now, and it will launch in the upcoming February patch. All cutscenes in the game, whether you've seen the cutscene before or not, will be skippable during solo play or by the host of your party during multiplayer.
      Guardian Rank Toggling
In a previous roadmap, we shared our intention to let players disable the powerful Perks associated with Guardian Ranks. That change will be coming in the February patch, and will allow you to individually disable specific Perks. You'll also be able to disable the entire system if you prefer a more vanilla leveling experience. In the future, we plan to expand the Guardian Rank system to include additional Perks. We are looking to introduce these new Perks in tandem with the second campaign add-on, but they will not be tied to that content.
      Event Toggling
During the seasonal Bloody Harvest event, we heard the community loud and clear: you'd like a way to opt out of an ongoing event. This feature will be introduced in the February patch. During the Broken Hearts Day seasonal event, you will now be able to toggle the event's game-wide effects on or off via the main menu.
      Fight For Your Life Improvements
Fight for Your Life is a big part of the co-op experience, and we've identified a few ways we'd like to improve the system. Specifically, we are looking at increasing the interaction radius between players, telegraphing revives to other players more clearly, and allowing multiple players to contribute to a revive. We expect to have this available in March.
      Mayhem 2.0
We expanded Mayhem Mode with the even tougher Mayhem 4 level in the Borderlands 3 Patch and Hotfixes for November 21, but more sweeping changes are in the works for Mayhem 2.0, arriving in March. We're still fine-tuning some of its elements and will have a separate update on this in the future, focusing on how Mayhem 2.0 will impact Borderlands 3's endgame experience.
      ECHOcast Twitch Extension expansions
The Borderlands 3 ECHOcast Twitch Extension has been a huge hit with our community, letting viewers directly interact with Borderlands 3 streamers and even collect some of the same loot. Currently, the ECHOcast Extension features Rare Chest Events, Badass Viewer Events, and Piñata Events for Twitch stream mayhem, and we want to add even more Event types in the near future. We're hoping to introduce a Moxxi-themed Event, which we first teased during Guardian Con 2019, that would let you mix up buff- or debuff-inducing cocktails for the streamer using Twitch Bits. We're aiming to have this ready for the ECHOcast Twitch Extension in March.
      Our Approach to Balance Changes
As we continue to develop new content, we're always keeping an eye on balancing to ensure that Borderlands 3 continues to be enjoyed for years to come, much like previous Borderlands titles. We prefer to make buffs rather than nerfs. However, in the most extreme cases, we may step in to reduce the power level of weapons, gear, or skills that make competing options feel totally obsolete.
All changes are made to keep Borderlands 3 feeling fresh for newcomers and veterans alike. We strive to make your chosen Vault Hunter feel unique, powerful, and impactful across all levels, and we want to maintain the thrill of collecting gear for whatever new build you can come up with next. For more insight into how we approach balancing in Borderlands 3, you can read this interview with Borderlands 3 Creative Director Paul Sage.
More to Come at PAX EAST
That's everything we're ready to share today. Don't worry, though, there's still plenty more in store for Borderlands 3. Not only will we continue updating the game based on the evolving needs of the community, we're also planning plenty of new content and free events to keep the experience exciting for players of all levels.
Want to learn more about that upcoming content? Be sure to tune in to the Gearbox panel at PAX East on February 27! The panel will stream live on twitch.tv/borderlands starting at 11:30 AM Pacific / 2:30 PM Eastern / 7:30 PM GMT. Expect a whole bunch of exciting content announcements, including the full reveal of Borderlands 3's second paid campaign expansion!
For now, be sure to catch today's episode of The Borderlands Show for additional context and insights from Borderlands 3 Live Lead Graeme Timmins, and keep sending us your constructive feedback. Thanks again, and see you at PAX East.

      Broken Hearts Day (source)
New seasonal event and themed loot coming to Borderlands 3 soon.
Broken Hearts Day is fast approaching in the Borderlands, and Maurice, Sanctuary III's resident sentient Saurian, is hoping you'll assist with his ongoing study of the human condition as he turns his attention to our species' courting rituals. You'll be well rewarded for completing Maurice's challenges during this new seasonal event revealed on episode five of The Borderlands Show, and don't worry, you're not being asked to do anything inappropriate. Simply shoot down the floating hearts that are swirling around enemies across the galaxy as you go about your regular Vault Hunter business.

The hearts take several forms and break in different ways: some will fall to the ground with a fiery explosion, while others might drop loot or briefly turn enemies into allies, for example. Maurice will keep track of how many hearts you've broken and mail you the following event rewards as you reach each of these totals:
      10 – "ECHOcardiogram" ECHO Skin
25 – "Cosmic Romance" Weapon Trinket
50 – "Terminal Polyaimorous" Legendary Maliwan SMG
75 – "Heartbreaker" Vault Hunter Skin
100 – "Wedding Invitation" Legendary Jakobs Sniper Rifle
Hearts will start to materialize across the Borderlands once the February patch deploys before 3:00 PM PT on Thursday, February 13. You'll then have one week to assist Maurice before this seasonal event ends at 8:59 AM PT on Thursday, February 20. If you don't want to take part, you can opt out of the Broken Hearts Day event from the main menu after pressing Play, but when you join an online game, the host player's settings will determine whether or not the event is active.

For information on some of the other exciting stuff we have in the works for Borderlands 3, check out the Community Love Letter we wrote for you. We mostly skipped the soppy stuff and instead jumped straight into planning our future together with a new update roadmap, which includes plans for things like Mayhem 2.0, skippable cutscenes, level cap increases, and upgrades to the Guardian Rank system. ❤️

Some major changes today as we have two events basically made permanent and a third being added! The solo/sub-4 man scaling for Maliwan Takedown has been made permanent, with a new mode coming soon that will re-enable the old 4-player only mode as an optional toggle; the farming frenzy event has been pretty much made permanent, as rare spawns will get a permanent buff to their spawn rate and a buff to their legendary drop to be the same as other bosses; the new event is a rare chest legendary drop buff that will be active through February 13th.

Today we will release a hotfix for Borderlands 3, which will be live on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC by 3:00 PM PST. This hotfix activates the Rare Chest Riches event, addresses drop rates, and implements permanent scaling for Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite! To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign that says "Hotfixes Applied"! If these hotfixes are not applied, you will not benefit from the changes! If you are experiencing any issues or want to provide feedback, please submit a ticket to support.2k.com.
Activate the Rare Chest Riches event, running until February 13 Increased the chance to receive Legendary loot from red car trunk chests Addressed a reported issue that the player could sometimes rise into the sky with the cannon during the "One Man's Treasure" mission in Moxxi's Heist of The Handsome Jackpot TRUE TAKEDOWN MODE
We've been looking at the feedback we received during the Scaling Event for Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite and have decided to make this Scaled event permanent starting today.
In a February update, we will include a new switch to re-enable what we call True Takedown Mode. True Takedown Mode will restore the Takedown to the 4-player experience that it launched with for extra difficulty. Once implemented, a lever activating True Takedown Mode will be located on the right side of the door leading out of the airlock at the beginning of the map.
      RARE SPAWNS AND DROP RATES
Once the Farming Frenzy event is over, we are implementing a permanent change to the Rare Spawns and Drop Rates. After analyzing play patterns, we are permanently increasing the spawn rate for these enemies and have buffed their drop rates and their Anointed chance to be on par with bosses.
      RARE CHEST RICHES EVENT
When the hotfixes roll out today before 3:00 PM PST, a new event will be activated! During the Rare Chest Riches Event, which runs until February 13 at 8:59am PST, all Rare Chests will drop rare loot at an increased rate, so you're more likely to receive Legendary items any time you open one. This increased drop rate will also apply when you watch a Twitch streamer open a Rare Chest, assuming both of you have the ECHOcast Twitch Extension enabled. Any rewards you score while watching streamers will be waiting for you in your in-game mailbox the next time you play Borderlands 3. In case you haven't done so already, click here for a step-by-step guide to linking your SHiFT and Twitch accounts so you can receive ECHOcast rewards. The Rare Chest Riches event will also apply to the Stadia version of Borderlands 3.

We have some buffs in today's hotfixes, both for loot and a Vault Hunter, as the Proving Grounds chest gets increased drops and Fl4k's Gamma Burst gets almost double it's radiation damage buff effect. There's also fixes for some bugs that could block story progression and Varkid texture changes:

Today we will release a hotfix for Borderlands 3, which will be live on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC by 3:00 PM PST. This hotfix addresses various concerns reported by the community and some perceived progression blockers! To apply hotfixes, wait at the main menu until you see a sign that says “Hotfixes Applied”! Updated a texture for the Incendiary Badass and Super Badass Varkid Adjusted the chest rewards at the end of the Proving Grounds to be more rewarding at all tiers of completion With more players running the Proving Grounds for dedicated loot drops from the bosses, we noticed the chests not rewarding players as much as we intended. We’ve boosted these chests to reflect the effort players must take to complete the objectives.  Completing all of the objectives gives the best Legendary drop rate and scales down accordingly.
Increased bonus radiation damage while Gamma Burst is active from 65% to 115% We’re happy to see the response to the boosted Anointment bonuses we released last week. After additional testing, we want to also boost the effects of Gamma Burst anointments for FL4K.
Addressed a perceived progression blocker that could occur when the player travels to another map and back to Sanctuary after releasing Tannis during the mission “Sanctuary” Addressed a perceived progression blocker where players could not speak to Brick during the mission “Hammerlocked” in The Anvil Addressed a perceived progression blocker where Ember would sometimes not appear to assist the players in various mission steps

We have some really big hotfixes today that will introduce both the Maliwan Takedown scaling event, which sees the raid difficulty scale to the number of players entering it, as well as the Farming Frenzy event, which will see more rare mobs spawned and increase legendary drop chances for all bosses and rares, both lasting until January 30th.

But the big news is that anointed items for Fl4k, Moze and Zane are getting massive buffs to offset the power of Amara's, with some tripling the bonuses they offer! There's also some tuning for the bosses in the Handsome Jackpot, as some were on the weak side, a nerf for the Ion Cannon and more.

As usual, the hotfixes go live somewhere between now and midnight CET, which usually means around 7PM.

Today we will release a hotfix for Borderlands 3, which will be live on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC by 3:00 PM PST. This hotfix addresses various concerns reported by the community and kicks off the two-week long Takedown Event and Farming Frenzy! Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite and Farming Frenzy!
This week starts the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite event! From when the hotfix goes live today until 8:59 AM PT on January 30, Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite will be scaled to the number of players! During this event, matchmaking will be set up to get you into the Takedown as quickly as possible. The Takedown is no easy feat, so make sure that you’re ready with the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite Quick Guide (keep in mind that this is written for the normal Takedown).
In addition, during the Farming Frenzy mini-event running for the same duration, we’re making a few other changes. Rare Spawn enemies will also show up more often*, and we’re temporarily boosting the Anointed and Legendary drop rates! For the next two weeks, every boss in the game has boosted drop rates, including the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite bosses!
May these two weeks be challenging, rewarding, and full of loot!
*The Debt Collector is excluded from this list, as it’s tied to an achievement!
      Bug Fixes
Addressed a reported concern with itemcard and hotfix sometimes not showing information correctly Addressed a reported concern that Judge Hightower was sometimes not dropping items from his dedicated item pool Adjusted the balance of Fabrikator, Freddie, ST4NL3Y, Constructor, Tony Bordel, Tricksy Nick, and Third Rail to provide a greater challenge Developer note – We noticed that the bosses in the Handsome Jackpot weren’t providing players with a satisfying challenge. We’ll be monitoring these bosses and make adjustments as needed in the future.
The Ion Cannon now has a 5 second reload and consumes at least 6 ammo per shot The Ion Cannon is a strong weapon and we don’t want to change that, but it’s a little over performing. We’ve increased the reload time and made it consume more ammo but left its damage unchanged to still provide a strong burst of damage.
Added collisions to prevent the Gunner from sometimes becoming stuck in Meridian Mercantile Added collisions to prevent players from sometimes escaping the map in various locations Increased the radius of the New-U station at The Arrogant Approach Increased Anointment Effectiveness for the Operative, Gunner, and Beastmaster
In looking at the bonuses from Anointments, we felt that some were not providing enough of a bonus. We’ve increased the bonuses on the Anointments below.
      Moze the Gunner
While Auto Bear is active, deals 75% (from 20%) bonus incendiary damage After exiting Iron Bear, the next 2 magazines will have 125% (from 40%) bonus incendiary damage After exiting Iron Bear, gain 160% (from 120%) increased Splash damage for 18 seconds When entering and exiting Iron Bear, nova damage increased Zane the Operative
While Barrier is active, Accuracy is increased by 60%, and Critical Hit damage is increased by 70% (from 30%) While SNTL is active, gain 100% (from 50%) of damage as bonus Cryo damage FL4K the Beastmaster
When exiting Fade Away, nova damage increased After using Rakk Attack!, gain 50% (from 25%) critical hit damage for a short time
