Eternal Palace Day 10: Limit in Phase 4 and 3 Adds Down, GM Calls for No Nerfs

Recommended Posts

While the title is slightly misleading, it would have been a bit too long with the full context: Limit have managed to push into Phase 4 earlier today, and also very recently had a separate pull with 3 adds down!

While day 10 was mostly uneventful overall, we did get some action towards the end from Limit, with a whole lot of excitement when they managed to get to Phase 4 for the very first time, with some pretty important information gleaned as well, that they tried very hard to keep secret. Now in that try, the 3rd add was still alive, but they made it to the console at the very end in an exciting finish, with only a few seconds in P4. But why narrate the event when we have the whole thing in a VoD:

10:30:10

We also had two separate 3 adds dead pulls, with the second being more recent, but both featured 3 very dead adds, followed by some very dead raiders:

19:14:14

We had two more major news for the day, as one set of hotfixes went live and another was announced for later today. The first one didn't have that big of an impact:

Blizzard LogoJuly 25th Hotfixes (source)

Queen Azshara

  • Cyranus should no longer throw his Charged Spear Charged Spear if he is defeated just before throwing it.
  • Changed the magic school of Charged Spear Charged Spear from Arcane to Nature for all difficulties.
  • Reduced the duration of Arcane Vulnerability Arcane Vulnerability to 5 seconds (was 7 seconds) on Mythic difficulty.

But the second one that will be coming around 4-5PM CEST today is a massive one:

Blizzard LogoJuly 26 Announced Hotfix (source)

We have a hotfix in testing that we intend to apply to change the Queen Azshara encounter tomorrow morning (PDT):

    • Queen Azshara’s minions now Berserk after 3 minutes in Phase 3 of the encounter on Mythic difficulty (was 2 minutes).

We’ll confirm when the hotfix is ready and going live tomorrow morning.

Considering the thing that's wiping guilds is the 2 minute enrage timer, this one will change everything and will almost certainly see the top guilds progressing into Phase 4 and getting the boss down by quite a lot. Whether there's some more surprises waiting for us in Phase 4 (maybe even an additional Mythic-only phase?) remains to be seen, but it'll definitely be worth watching when those hotfixes arrive.

Limit's GM also commented on the upcoming nerf, saying he didn't think it was actually necessary:

And so we are on to day 11, which may turn out to be the most exciting day so far - whether there's a possibility of an actual kill isn't quite certain, but what is certain is that we'll be seeing more progress on the boss than we've seen since they first pulled her! Check out the action at:

It may not be what was wanted hotfix wise but as mentioned phase 4 could hold a different twist or unexpected surprise that the top guilds will have to rethink their priorities again with the fight.  Nothing is worse than reaching past a 50% marker on a boss to use beneficial CD's, due to force circumstances, just to find out that you should of saved them further for a different set of mechanics of a phase.

The eleventh week of Shadowlands Season 1 has ended, and after 2 weeks, we looked at the most popular tanks and healers for Mythic+.
Earlier in the week, we also looked at the most popular DPS specializations for Mythic+.
        This Week's Affixes
Tyrannical Raging Quaking Prideful Data Reliability
The data used in this article comes from benched.me and is updated every hour. Reddit user OtherwiseUniversity7, the site's author, plotted all keys available from the Blizzard API (excluding the CN region) on a single ridge plot to gather all the information.
        Total Runs Recorded
Here we have the total runs recorded for each tank and healer specialization after 12 weeks of Mythic Season 1. Based on the data, we filter out the most popular tanks and healers in Mythic+.

        Most Popular Tanks for Mythic+
Vengeance Demon Hunter remains the most popular tank for Mythic+ multiple weeks in a row with more than 3.7 million runs. Protection Paladin is second with 2.8 million runs. Brewmaster Monk is third with 1.38 million runs. The least popular tank spec is Protection Warrior.
        1st: Vengeance Demon Hunter - 3,720,085 runs 2nd: Protection Paladin - 2,862,188 runs 3rd: Brewmaster Monk - 1,381,771 runs 4th: Guardian Druid - 1,355,591 runs 5th: Blood Death Knight - 1,253,296 runs 6th: Protection Warrior - 756,268 runs Detailed Look at Spec Performance
Here is a visual representation of the share of tanking specializations at each keystone level. The meta starts kicking in at Mythic+16, where most specializations begin losing their share of representation to the meta-classes.

Share of Tank Specializations in Weekly Top 500 Runs
To observe meta shifts throughout the season, we sample the top 500 runs for each dungeon (a total of 6K keys) for each week. We then count the number of times each specialization appears in the weekly top 500 sample.

        Most Popular Healers for Mythic+
Restoration Druid is no longer the most popular healer for Mythic+. They got overrun by Restoration Shaman with 3.174 million runs, and albeit the difference between 1st and 2nd place is just a measly 70K runs, it's nice to see a class other than Druid first. Holy Paladin remains third, and the rest is pretty much unchanged, with Mistweaver Monk as the least popular healer.
        1st: Restoration Shaman - 3,174,079 runs 2nd: Restoration Druid - 3,105,489 runs 3rd: Holy Paladin - 1,873,967 runs 4th: Discipline Priest - 1,351,766 runs 5th: Holy Priest - 1,086,248 runs 6th: Mistweaver Monk - 730,933 runs Detailed Look at Spec Performance
Here's a visual representation of the share of healer specializations at each keystone level.

Share of Healer Specializations in Weekly Top 500 Runs
The meta is really stable within a single patch, and spec representation within the top 500 barely changes. The data has a zig-zag trend. Spec numbers, mostly the top specs, go up and down each week due to the Tyrannical/Fortified split.
On Tyrannical weeks, top pushers bench their meta-class mains and play non-meta alts, or don't play at all. As a result, the share of meta specializations in the top 500 drops on Tyrannical weeks. Similarly, the share of meta specializations rises to its max during push weeks.

You can easily avoid Kil'jaeden's annoying knockback with a toy! The method is handy if you're soloing the boss on Mythic difficulty!
If you use Aspirant's Stretcher just before Kil'jaeden's is about to cast his knockback, it won't affect you. You can buy the toy with gold at Revered with The Ascended in Shadowlands.
Reddit user Auviek provided us with a video, which shows how the toy mitigates the knockback.
