Eternal Palace Day 18: Method Multi-PoV Vid, 3 More Kills

Recommended Posts

The race is significantly slowing down, as you'd expect, as guilds are taking longer and longer to get Azshara down, even with additional fixes coming in. The big news from yesterday was Method's official multi-PoV Azshara kill video release, as well as three more guilds downing the Queen, with the Asia guilds dominating the top 6.

First off let's get to the Queen Azshara Mythic World First kill video by Method:

Then it's on to the current top 6, as we had two additional Asia guild kills, and again not in the order we were expecting. AFK R took home 4th place on the Korean servers while initial front-runners JTH only managed a 5th spot, while Crucible of Storms champions Pieces came in 6th and took the EU 2nd. And so we have 3 Asia guilds, 2 EU and 1 US crossing the finish line in the Eternal Palace so far, with several additional changes/fixes/nerfs coming to Queen Azshara since Method, Limit and Alpha took her down:

Blizzard LogoAzshara Hotfixes

  • Fixed an issue where Charged Spear IconCharged Spear could target victims of Devotion or Army of Azshara in all difficulties.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Queen Azshara to rapidly change which way she faced in Mythic difficulty.
  • Fixed an issue that removed a player’s ability to initiate a Controlled Release if they spammed their Extra Action Button just as the Titan Console Overloaded during the Queen Azshara encounter.

We're getting close to that top 10 and to the 3rd reset/4th week of the race but as the pace has slowed down, it'll be interesting to see not only which guilds push through to the end but also how quickly they can do it. Will we even see another kill this reset?

The Eternal Palace race has truly been something special, with almost 2 full weeks of something interesting happening every single day. I can honestly say it's been one of the more engaging and dynamic races so far, with some very serious contenders to the World First throne coming out. With the dual race event streams and constant progress reports it was quite the story, and if you haven't been following it from the start, you can always check out all of our daily summaries to get a better idea of the crazyness that was this raid.

Opening up Mythic EP is going to take forever. Sincerely hoping they remove that requirement next expansion, or at least the 100 guilds from Alliance/Horde.

I agree, a lot of people are still stuck on the 4th raid boss Lady Ashvane rofl...

Rextroy is back after a bit of a soloing absence, and he's gotten some gear ready in 8.3 - so naturally it was time to head into the current raid and solo a boss! Prophet Skitra is the second or third boss of the raid, depending on whether you pick her or Maut after Wrathion, and in this World First video we get a little extra explanation on how he did it by Rextroy (head to 5:36 in the video for that part).

You can also check out our in-depth interview with the man himself, as he goes over some of his more controversial tactics and discusses the difference between an exploit and creative use of game mechanics, as he had a bit of experience with the subject after being banned and unbanned for a solo kill he did (the 0.5 second Vectis kill).

There are some pretty cool discoveries he had to make about the boss mechanics to pull it off so it's definitely worth a watch:

Starting with next week's reset (March 31st/April 1st), all Legion instances will be getting legacy loot rules, aka more loot drops for when there's fewer players. This means you'll be getting random loot not specific to your class, but there will be plenty more of it for those transmog runs.

Check out the full explanation below:
      Legion Legacy Loot (source)
With scheduled weekly maintenance the week of March 31, we’re enabling Legacy loot rules in Legion raids and dungeons.
We’re reached that point in an expansion where the content from the previous expansion no longer requires a full group, and the rewards are primarily sought by transmog collectors. With this change, Legion raid and dungeon encounters will drop a fixed quantity of class-agnostic loot. Today, if you and one other player enter Emerald Nightmare on Mythic difficulty and kill Nythendra, it’s unlikely that you’ll receive any loot, since drop rates normally scale to the number of players. After this change, Nythendra will always drop 5 items from her loot table, regardless of your group size.
Dungeons and many of the lower-difficulty raid bosses in Legion are already soloable by well-equipped Battle for Azeroth characters, though some bosses, especially on Mythic difficulty, may still require you to bring a few friends. Nonetheless, this should amount to a great increase in the availability of Legion transmog gear.
      See you there!
