Patch 2.6.7 and Season 19 Patch Notes + S19 Not Starting on Friday

Update: The patch is now live on all platforms.
While the patch itself hasn't arrived yet on PC, due to some issues still being worked out, it is live on consoles and should be up shorty on PC as well. We also got word that we'll find out the S19 start date later this week and that it is NOT coming this Friday, but we'll find out when it is coming in this week's season preview.

We do however, have the patch notes, with some big changes from the ones we saw on the PTR! The big changes from the PTR are the Barbarian Lamentation legendary power (150-200% Rend damage) being reverted, the Crusader and Monk set bonuses have been significantly changed, the the seasonal killstreak numbers were modified and we got more new legendary powers, as well as some reverted. The patch also adds the Lilith wings from the Virtual BlizzCon ticket!

While Consoles have Patch 2.6.7 right now, PC is still in the process of being deployed globally. We have one last issue to work out and as soon as that smooths over, 2.6.7 will be released world-wide on all platforms.

            So reading between the lines, season 19 is 100% not starting this Friday then?

Not this Friday, no.

That’s coming in the Season Preview blog, which will be later this week.

I’ve been working on getting all these communications through approvals and localization since last week. It’s coming, guys. I know it’s later than normal, and I wish it could have been a lot smoother this time around. It’s a process I normally have down to a science.

There were a lot more mitigating factors this time around that caused delays, and that lands on me. Some were controllable, most were not. I’m aiming to get that communication out Thursday, so long as I get everything back and delivered that’s needed.

Thanks for your understanding. It’s been a rough couple of weeks, and I know you’re all eager to hit the ground running in S19.

General

  • Greater Rift Keystones are now subject to vacuum pick-up
  • A note regarding the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) has been added to the Options -> Privacy menu, clearly stating we do not sell account information. For more information regarding the CCPA, please see here (Console Only).

Seasons

  • Developer Note: One of the biggest pieces of feedback from Season 18's buff was that the Triune bonus didn't stick with your character while you adventured. With Season 19, we've altered course as well as upped the ante by experimenting with new mechanics to add an element of both chaos and power to the battlefield. It should feel a bit like Pandemonium, and it may be a consideration whether or not you want to reset your total kill streak for a particular killstreak bonus versus continuously maintain the overall effect (especially as the highest level killstreak rewards will be harder to leverage in situations like Greater Rifts). Killstreaks with higher kill count requirements are more powerful, and we're looking forward to seeing what players think of and do with them!
  • The buff for Season 19, the Season of Eternal Conflict, has been added
    • Pandemonium
      • For the duration of the Season, all players will have a stacking buff that that persists as long as you have hit or killed a monster within the last 5 seconds
      • Each stack gives .005 movement speed and .001% bonus damage. This bonus caps at 50% movement and 100% damage (1000 stacks)
      • In addition, after reaching a certain number of kills in a row, a power is unleashed, dealing an amount of scaling damage based on player level and difficulty or Greater Rift level:
        • 15 Kills: Exploding Chickens seek and destroy
        • 30 Kills: A wide Frost Nova freezes enemies
        • 50 Kills: Corpses rain from the sky
        • 100 Kills: Five massive energy twisters are unleashed
        • 150 Kills: Dark Geysers form beneath enemies
        • 200 Kills: Treasure chests fall from the sky
        • 300 Kills: A ring of fire engulfs everything
        • 400 Kills: Meteors hail from above
        • 500 Kills: Angels descend upon the battlefield to fight for your cause
          • Angels should no longer one-shot Rift Guardians.
        • 1000 Kills: ???
      • Powers are tracked at a group level; this means only one power can be active in play at a time, regardless of the number of players in a group
  • Two new Seasonal rewards are available for players who fully complete the Season 19 Journey: the Valor Portrait Frame and the Angelic Treasure Goblin pet
  • Lilith's Embrace: This exclusive pair of cosmetic wings are now available for all players who purchased a Virtual Ticket. Hail Lilith. (PC Only)

  • Developer Note: With Patch 2.6.7, we are beginning to roll out new class sets for every class in Diablo III. For the Season of Valor, we're focusing on the two classes that embody the Light and wield some form of Holy elemental damage: Crusader and Monk. You'll also find a handful of retuned or newly added Legendary powers intended to synergize with the new class sets. We did a lot of community research into which skills were most requested by players as well as most underrepresented in current builds, and we hope you're as excited as we are for these new gameplay options. The other class sets will be coming in later patches, so if your class isn't represented this time around, fret not—they're coming in a future patch!
  • You'll also notice a significant number of Barbarian item changes in this patch. While the Barbarian class set will be coming at a later date, we have very much heard the War Cry from our dedicated Barbarian community and implemented a number of changes heavily inspired by extremely thorough feedback. While not every suggestion has been taken at a 1:1 parity, the thoughtful analysis helped guide us to changes we could implement in this patch. Thanks very much to the community members who expressed their concerns in a respectful, constructive manner. It's very helpful, and we greatly appreciate the thought and effort that went into making your voices heard!
  • New Crusader Set: Aegis of Valor
    • 2-Piece Bonus: The charged bolts from Fist of the Heavens has a chance to cast another Fist of the Heavens Attacking with Fist of the HeavensFist of the Heavens empowers you, allowing Heaven's FuryHeaven's Fury to deal 100% increased damage for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times (multiplicative).
    • 4-Piece Bonus: Hitting with Fist of the HeavensFist of the Heavens generates 5 Wrath and reduces damage taken by 1% for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 50 times
    • 6-Piece Bonus: Increase the damage of Fist of the HeavensFist of the Heavens and Heaven's FuryHeaven's Fury by 10,000% 20,000%
    • Developer's Note: Thank you so much for your thorough feedback and testing on the 2.6.7 PTR! We decided to add Heaven's FuryHeaven's Fury to the mix based on popular request as well as because we agree that it matches the theme and adds more gameplay complexity. There is also still room for tweaks and additional iteration in the future, and we're glad we were able to introduce a set so many of you are excited to use!
  • New Monk Set: Patterns of Justice
    • 2-Piece Bonus: Sweeping WindSweeping Wind gains the effect of every rune and movement speed is increased by 5% for each stack of Sweeping WindSweeping Wind.
    • 4-Piece Bonus: Each enemy within Sweeping Wind increases your movement speed by 5%. Stacks up to 10 times. Attacking with Tempest RushTempest Rush reduces your damage taken by 50% and increases Spirit Regeneration by 50.
    • 6-Piece Bonus: Hitting with Tempest RushTempest Rush while Sweeping WindSweeping Wind is active will temporarily increase the size of Sweeping WindSweeping Wind after hitting over 30 times within a short period. Sweeping WindSweeping Wind damage is increased by 10,000% 15,000%
    • Developer's Note: Thank you so much for your thorough feedback and testing on the 2.6.7 PTR! We heard Monk requests for additional damage reduction and to better integrate Tempest RushTempest Rush as a skill. We hope the result makes for a more survivable and engaging build that still captures that rush of Holy Justice sweeping through crowds of dastardly demons.

    • New Legendary Power: When Sweeping Wind hits exactly 1 enemy, its damage is increased by 100%.
    • Developer's Note: With the redesign of Patterns of Justice, there was less need for this item's introduction. We've removed it for now and may consider adding it (or possibly a different Legendary power) at a later date.
  • Vengeful WindVengeful Wind
    • Increases the maximum stack count of Sweeping WindSweeping Wind by [6-7] 10
    • Additional Legendary Power: Increases the damage of Sweeping WindSweeping Wind by [250-300%] [600-800%].

  • Chantodo's Resolve
    • The scaled attack speed damage bonus to Wave of Destruction has been reduced
    • Developer Note: This is a reactive adjustment from an earlier change to how Wave of Destruction receives a bonus from Attack Speed. The buff that resulted from that change was more than we expected, so we're reigning it in.
  • Wrath of the Wastes
    • 6-Piece Bonus: The damage bonus now also applies to Rend
  • Lamentation
    • Additional Legendary Power: Increases the damage of Rend by [150-200%]
    • Developer Note: While we were very happy with how much better Barbarians are performing, we are concerned we may have overshot it. By removing just one silo'd addition, we can observe how the class performance goes for Season 19 and consider re-adding this change in the future. Remember we still have a patch coming up where Barb will be one of the focused classes, so there will be plenty of time to revisit if necessary!

    • New Legendary Power: Attacking with Whirlwind also applies RendRend and the total damage of RendRend is dealt over 1 second
  • RemorselessRemorseless
  • Fjord CutterFjord Cutter
    • You are surrounded by a Chilling Aura when attacking.
    • New Legendary Power: Seismic SlamSeismic Slam attacks 50% faster and also deals 100-150% increased damage against Slowed or Chilled enemies
  • Bracers of DestructionBracers of Destruction
    • Seismic SlamSeismic Slam deals [400-500%] increased damage to the first 5 10 enemies it hits.
  • Fury of the AncientsFury of the Ancients
    • Call of the AncientsCall of the Ancients gains the effect of the Ancients' FuryAncients' Fury rune and your Ancients attack 100% faster
  • Bone RingerBone Ringer
    • Now has a cap of 60 stacks.
    • Developer Note: We never intended for this item to be used in a way where you farm stacks for an egregious amount of time (5+ minutes) and then watch all their health disappear in less than a second. It's not an engaging style of gameplay, and we don't want that experience to be the best way to play the Necromancer.
  • Legacy of DreamsLegacy of Dreams
    • This gem is now more likely to drop from a Greater Rift Guardian

Bug Fixes

  • Wizard
    • ArchonArchon
      • Fixed an issue where certain item bonuses (such as from the item DeathwishDeathwish) would persist between changing forms to/from ArchonArchon
        • Developer's Note: A few patches ago, we stated we were going to continue to observe Bazooka Wizard to see its performance over time. Back then, we thought it would require a high level of skill to execute that would make it relatively less utilized as a hard, but rewarding, gameplay option. That hasn't been the case, as many feel it's too mandatory. In the context of this and other changes (like Bone RingerBone Ringer and Chantodo's), we think it makes sense to make this change now.
  • SpiteSpite
    • Fixed an issue where casting Restless GiantRestless Giant would cause the 200% physical bonus damage to fail to apply when the GargantuanGargantuan enraged
  • Squirt's NecklaceSquirt's Necklace
    • Fixed an issue where some ground effects were causing the Squirt's NecklaceSquirt's Necklace buff to fall off despite being shielded

I'm fairly pleased with these new seasonal effects, if only they implemented these much sooner than later versus "double drops" and such.

Can't wait to see if Barbs can get a bit higher in rifts this season. Spin 2 Win has always been my favorite going back to my Lance WW barb from Diablo 2.

Cant decide between WW Barb or new Monk Set 😵

Gameplaywise its nearly the same...

 

/edit: Its gonna be Monk. Won Khim Lau with the new cyclone strike effect is great. I will definitely go for that 🙂

I am glad they changed the Crusader set bonuses. That 20k% on Heaven's Fury is nuts. The question is: Do the bonuses of the set apply to Holy Shotgun (Rays shot by Ivory Tower) as well? (other Heaven's Fury bonuses do.)

      We have a fix for the recent problems players have been having with whispering others, specifically the "Error 3" message. There's still no eta for the party joining bug, however, as the last fix didn't actually work. We did find out that the party issue will require and actual patch instead of a simple hotfix, so it might be a while until we see it.

      Party Join Bug Update (source)
      Hey Robdoggierob,
      We’re continuing to investigate and internally testing many fixes targeted to squash this bug daily. A bit more difficult to nail down unfortunately, but we have made progress in some areas.
      We’ll continue to update, but most likely this will require a new build to be produced rather than a hotfix. Once we have a fix that is 100% internally, we’ll communicate it out to everyone.

      It seems there's been a major shift in community management for Diablo 3 as we've noticed over the last couple of weeks, as Associate producer Matthew Cederquist is replying to basically every relevant active thread on the official forums. After a long time of very few responses and poor communication with the community, it seems the Diablo 4 reveal re-prioritized things and we now have some proper blue representation for D3. While a lot of these replies are just "we are aware and working on it", we can't really expect a lot more from the very small dev team still working on D3 so this shift is pretty significant if you take that into consideration. Today we have a look at the topics we've gotten a reply on over the holiday weekend - an upcoming brawl leveling trick, the party XP bug, 10,000+ paragon level Barbarians and Crusaders, addons and bots and, of course, Angel squishiness.
      Matthew has been very active over the holiday break and responded to a whole host of popular topics, starting with an interesting one - it seems there's a way to get to 70 in around an hour through brawling! You just set the difficulty to T6 in a 4 player party and brawl away until you ding max level pretty fast. Obviously speed leveling isn't anything new as players can be power leveled by others very quickly anyway, but apparently this method wasn't intended and will be fixed, as you don't need a higher level player to boost you for it to work.

      There's also been a lot of discussion about balance and Barbarians and Crusaders in particular, with two specific examples being used as a debate/whine point on the forums, as one Barb managed a 142 GR within 12 minutes (and of course was used as proof that Barbs are fine) and one Crusader at 146 GR was pointed out as OP. It turns out both of these are non-seasonal and have over 10,000 paragon levels, but Matthew had two very differing comments for them starting with the Barbarian:

      Just to chime in here. At 10,288 Paragon, this specific Barbarian is +1 GR over the proposed balance of the game. Looks like absolute fantastic design and balance to us.

      Definitely not fantastic design and balance. This one particular Crusader at 10,176 Paragon is about +5 GRs above our expected.
      Something to look into for next patch!
      Not to put too fine a point on it, but at those paragon levels and THAT high a GR clear, with the amount of factors going into builds etc, classes are never EVER going to be that balanced. Not in D3, not in D4 or any other game ever made by anyone. Seriously. People asking for that level of balance in an ARPG are just begging for a watered-down, +0.3% to damage affixes and talents systems, because those are the only ones that can ever be balanced to such a degree. Just accept the fact some classes will be more powerful than others and let there be actual builds and creative uses of them in the damn game and shut the hell up on this eternal balance quest that's basically ruining RPGs.
      Ok, not sure sure where that rant came from but I stand by it!
      Then it's on to a discussion on addons/mods, with TurboHud being the focus of discussion, and it seems we'll be getting a larger post on the topic of mods soon as well, with bots being in the cross hairs as well:

      TurboHud has some cool features, but on the other hand, has some features that give players more of an advantage. In the past, TurboHud fell by the wayside and didn’t catch the attention of anti-cheat programs.
      We’ll have more to say on this in the very near future, but to answer your question, TurboHud is seen as a program that should not be used in the game in its current state.
      As for bots, their time is coming.
      And finally we have an answer to the age old question: Just how squishy are Angels? It seems some players aren't happy with the 500 killstreak ability proc as their feathered friends die too quickly to the Rift Guardian:

      Yes. Angels should die to the RG. If untouched, they can also produce massive damage.

      Raxxanterax and his group managed to clear Greater Rift 150 on Day 4 of Season 19 thanks to the latest Seasonal buff.
      The ongoing Season comes with the Pandemonium buff which grants stacks of movement speed and damage and reaching certain killstreak goals will trigger powerful effects which translates into even more damage. The most important ones are geysers at 150 and the meteor showers at 400 kills. Those two have the potential to completely eliminate a pack, so they're using that to their advantage by stacking mobs on top of each other.
      Their Crusader died when he was looking for a pylon and lost his stacks, so it took them almost 6 minutes to kill the Rift Guardian.

      We finally have a fix implemented for the matchmaking problem for party grouping, which was showing parties and players as "not in season", and caused problems for non-seasonal parties as well. The fix apparently wasn't tested a whole lot, but Blizz decided to push it before the holiday weekend, which was probably a good choice.

      Players will have to restart their clients to pick up the fix.
      This fix does NOT fix the level 0 or missing class in the friends list or communities. This Fix SHOULD fix the Non-Season and Season party bug. Let us know if you’re still seeing the issue please and thank you in advance

      We want to be very transparent with this update. We have a fix for the party bug that we’ll be deploying at roughly 1:00PM PST.
      This fix did not get a lot of testing internally, but we wanted to get it out asap before the holiday weekend. We had the choice between waiting till Tuesday, or getting it out today. We chose to take the risk to better the community playing experience. If, for any reason, this causes issues we can revert.
