It's been quite a wait, but it's finally time to head back to Azeroth's past, before the World part of Warcraft existed and the view was a bit different! Reforged is releasing today and we've gathered up all related content here, including the most important piece of info: just when exactly is the game releasing in your time zone!

Blizzard LogoReforged Release Date (source)

The drums of war thunder once again. Wacraft III: Reforged—the recreation of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne—will be available at 3 p.m. PST on January 28, 2020.

Though we’ve been working hard to get Reforged in your hands before the end of the year, as we started approaching the finish line, we felt we’d need a little extra development time for finishing touches. As always, our goal is to honor the high standards you hold us to.

Step Back in Time

Warcraft III: Reforged takes you back to a tumultuous time in Azeroth’s history, when a dark shadow eclipsed a peaceful land, the world trembled before the coming of the Burning Legion, and heroes risked it all to prevent the death of their world.

Soon you’ll be able to relive the definitive real-time strategy classic, with revitalized visuals, an epic single-player campaign spanning over 60 missions, rebalanced online play, a suite of contemporary social and matchmaking features, a vast universe of player-created games, and more.

Welcome Back to War

You can pre-purchase the standard edition of Warcraft III: Reforged digitally now from the Blizzard Shop for $29.99—or for $39.99, you can pick up the Spoils of War Edition, which includes a host of extras as well as in-game bonuses for other Blizzard games that will unlock immediately upon pre-purchase. In addition, players who pre-purchase either version will get access to the ongoing beta test for Warcraft III: Reforged.

I AM READY. LOK'TAR!!!!!

the amount of memories in this game is surreal. I've been playing blizzard games since around 1995 with WCII, and I think warcraft 3 ties up my time spent on Blizz games with Diablo 2. of course we ignore WoW, which sucked away disturbing amounts of my life.

anyway, my partner has heard me talk passionately about warcraft lore for over 3 years (she has encouraged me that if we have a son he can be named GARROSH though I warned her he'd die a horrible death in school) and she's stoked and ready to experience this game, which is such a rare experience for me. I'm excited to show her but also excited to experience the remodeling of everything.

I had a blast with the Starcraft remaster, but my childhood heart has ALWAYS and will ALWAYS be enTHRALLed with warcraft (see what i did there?)

having spent the past 5 months on STEAM instead of BATTLE.NET, i am also confident I will spend more time playing reforged custom maps more than any title available on Steam (sorry mount & blade: warband and battle brothers, you guys are still cool).

The new models and animations look amazing, I just really really hope it's not just a re-skin. Because that's what the beta feels like at the moment.

I hope the campaign has been reforged a bit too, and that they will keep adding new modes and models to the game, not just offer us a re-skin and call it a day.

From what we know so far, Blizzard initially wanted to recreate the ingame talking cutscenes and add more side missions to give certain characters a deeper story. After the community feedback they decided to not do that. The biggest changes to the campaign we get are  redone map layouts of popular locations and we get the custom Thrall campaign as part of the Prologue.

Nevertheless. I will totally farm the portraits and skins ?

The way they did this europe receives the product on the 29th of the month instead of the advertised 28th.

Yes I know what a timezone is. But this isnt a wow patch. When video games get released on other platforms its a universal release. Europe gets the date " first" ( so to speak due to timezone) because the date reaches "first". Not the other way around.

The date of 29th wasnt even mentioned anywhere before today.

At least everyone gets it at the same time. In other games like HotS EU gets the patch one day later. I cant wait as well. *biting fingers*

Definitely excited for this! Disappointed I can't predownload/preload it as I was hoping to get going tonight after work, but I'm sorta resetting my expectations that tomorrow is going to be the day it really begins.

It's going to be the first, real RTS my fiancee is going to give a proper shot to. Me playing the Sins of a Dark Age and Heroes of the Storm betas were what got her interested in MOBAs and between that and some Team Fortress 2 time, Overwatch as well. I had her try StarCraft 2's campaign which she wasn't a fan of, but with her having spent a lot of time with HotS comboed with her console tactical RPG roots, I'm hoping WarCraft 3 goes better (I mean, custom maps kinda ensure it will, lol).

I'll admit though, for as many hours as I spent on WC3 back in the day, I did not spend much time "git gud" on the standard ladder. This time around, I'm more interested in spending some proper time in regular MP. Does IcyVeins plan to expand into WC3:R and maybe offer up some guides like it has for HotS? I'm particularly interested in pursuing 2v2.

Not currently, but its all down to the expectations and will of the people ?, if a lot of people want to read it, we will want to write about it! Meanwhile you got some interesting stuff already at https://warcraft3.info/, strongly recommend if you are just getting back to the game ?

They only had one additional month, based on comments of those who have played beta, there are still many optimisation and bug issues. I hope they will patch it eventually, otherwise it kinda kills it's multiplayer aspect. Also this game had little to zero marketing, I wonder how many players are unaware that it's even coming. Still, I want to play it anyway, especially for campaigns, custom maps and some team games in multi.

The problem with release dates is that when the US get it AFTER the Europe, they have a massive hissy fit over waiting, even though when its everyone else waiting they just say 'its just a little wait, play something else' but when we say that its 'don't cause trouble - Moderators' so they just release it in the US first, less tantrums. ?

I don't think I'll come back to wow until finishing Warcrraft 3 campaign four or five times.

Yes thats why I said other platforms. This is literally only happening on bnet games. The rest of the planet releases it normally.  Even other American companies. In my country (eastern europe) the game will be released  1 hour after midnight, on 29th of January. Central europe will be midnight of 29th. This is hardly a "28th of January" release for anyone leaving easter of west europe.

Blizzard handles games differently in general. Having it one day later than expected is not much of a big deal after all considering their Games are not finished until three months after release.
I personally think there are bigger issues out there. Except you actually took a day off work for that. Then it sucks.

Well yeah its not a big deal but when it is literally the only company that does it its kind of ridiculous. I never take a day off for game releases regardless ( only did it once due to friday).

Saddly what you said about 3 months for games to be finished is true. Every wow expansion is basically beta on release, because "beta stage" before release is in reality a promotion period through twitch streaming.

Overwatch is their only game that does simultaneous patches, for other games it's day later for Europe, after weekly maintenance. I think they could have easily done it, but perhaps they don't want to invest into updating older infrastructure/systems for their previous games?

Like I said , I compared this with what every other platform does(as in, NOT bnet), I dont understand why people keep replying with Blizzard only politics.

Blizzard games like World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Overwatch 2 might soon make a comeback in China, thanks to Blizzard reportedly teaming up again with NetEase.
The news comes from Core Esports, which suggests Blizzard's game services could be back by the end of March or the beginning of April.
After 14 years of partnership, Blizzard and NetEase hit a rough patch in 2022, leading to failed negotiations. Consequently, when the licensing agreement concluded on January 23, 2023, Blizzard's game services were suspended across mainland China.
For more details, you can check out the article in Chinese or find an English translation by Amy Chen on esports.gg.

According to WSJ, Bobby Kotick, former CEO of Activision Blizzard, has floated the idea of buying TikTok to potential partners.
Former Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has reportedly shown interest in purchasing TikTok, as legislation in the U.S. threatens to ban or force the sale of the popular app over national security concerns.
Kotick is said to be seeking partners for the potential acquisition, discussing the opportunity with notable figures including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The move comes amid growing scrutiny over TikTok's data privacy practices and its ties to China, with U.S. lawmakers pushing for decisive action.
