Demon Hunter LOW DPS (High Gear) 8.3

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

So i play a Demon Hunter Lvl 120 with iLVL 464.

My DPS in dungeons is just so low compared to everyone else and i dont know why. I was in a M8+ earlier and the ilvl 450 Tank was doing more DPS than I was.

Any tips? Check out my gear/character, i think its all setup right. I went through the Icy Veins Demon Hunter guide and stat priority etc... Got a rotation, but something isnt right. Im always last on DPS even with 440 ilvl players in the group.

Thanks for reading!

I'm no expert, but here's my 2 copper.

Did the tank have a Tier 3 Twilight Devastation? That gives tanks insane aoe dps because the damage is based on HP. You have very little corruption gear. Work on that cloak.

Other things: Try Blind Fury instead of Demonic Appetite. The fury gain is consistent and predictable plus you get added damage from the longer eye beam.

Weapons are a big thing for us DHs. Yours are on the low side for your gear level. I know the pain of not getting the weapon drops you need.

Try shifting your stats to more crit. I'm at about 30% crit and 22% haste at a similar ilevel (I'm at 467).

The Icy Veins guides are good, but things shift a lot at higher gear levels. If you aren't simming (Simcraft + raid bots) give that a try. My stat weights changed quite a bit over time.

So just now came across your post and I looked you up on Raider IO,  I hope this will be of some assistance and I can not tell what is accurate from the three sites that I saw you from and what you have already changed.  You have one too many stacks of the Azerite Trait Eyes of Rage (Raider IO).  We generally just need one of those traits since they do not stack like the Azerite Trait Furious Gaze for additional Haste.  I also recommend switching your minor Essence trait of Purification Protocol with Crucible of Flame till you get Rank 3 of Purification Protocol unless you plan on using the Essence for Horrific Vision farming.  Keep doing your Uldum dailies to get the Rank 3 of Breath of the Dying too this will increase your dps.

Far as general Havoc Traits I would switch Trail of Ruin for Fel Barrage.  Use Fel Barrage while under Meta during your rotation.  This really helps during Fortified Key weeks when it's the dps priority to kill the trash in dungeons quickly before Tank and Healer become overwhelmed.  I generally use Trail of Ruin for Tyrannical week for the dot effect on Bosses and it does a decent amount of dmg on trash.  I would also switch Nemesis with Demonic for the simple reason for the short duration of being in Meta to do additional dmg on all given targets while the buff up time for Nemesis isn't as reliable on the pace of keystones and it's long cool down before reactivating it .

Corruption gear if you have or can get lucky to obtain it I would look for pieces that give Twilight Devastation or Echoing Void that is great for Multi target setups.  And if you can Infinite Stars for Single target builds like Tyrannical and 11/12 Bosses for NtWC Raid.  For when these start proc while doing your rotation it's basically free dmg.  Only downside is balancing the Corruption where it doesn't overwhelm you during the encounter where you can't successfully navigate or perform mechanics accordingly per affixes on keystones weekly.

As far as gear goes I would aim at saving bonus rolls for Ra-den on Heroic in NtWC just because the proc rate on the claws and it's considered as BiS overall from getting either +10-15 Warglaive of the Sandqueen (TD), Bile Tusks (URR), or the Axe from Mechagon.

Here is My setup. I usually do top 3 DPS. I prefer doing more AOE damage. Yours looks like its set up for more Single target. But if you like AOE, I would use Fel Barrage. Does massive damage in a short 3 sec span. I also use Haste and Versatility ( I think) on My weapons. I'm not as high of iLvl as you, but its fairly close. Maybe something I do different will help you out as well.

Raid/Class Spots Are Open To Any Applicant If The Player Is The Right Fit
A guild formed with an ambition for progression and a love for M+ we decided to make the move from Silvermoon Alliance and form a guild to take our focus to the next level, Cutting Edge in 10.1 being the next step.
We believe in building a guild by recruit players of a similar goal and mentality whether it be for raiding or for push score in Mythic plus. We value loyalty, honesty and a positive attitude towards setbacks. Communication skills are an absolute must.
      Raid Schedule
      Wednesday 20:30-23:00 Sunday 20:30-23:00
      Current Progression
      9/9HC 5/9M
What are we looking for recruitment wise?
We're currently open to recruiting DPS classes listed above, as we aim to solidify a stable 25-player roster. We're looking to provide competition to existing members and choose the best 25 players to proceed with for next tier.
      Contact Information:
      Discord; tomsen and lora1506
Think you'd be a good fit?
If you believe that you are a player that is looking to achieve the same goals as us then why not contact us and see if we can achieve our goals together!

<Fun is for Casuals> is a serious but casual horde guild on US-Hyjal. We are serious about raiding without the intense hours. Even when recruitment status is none, we will accept exceptional applications for all classes.
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30PM to 8:30PM server (PST) with raid invitations sent out a few minutes prior to that.
We're interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
Raid attendance is essential. We don't want people sitting on the bench but we also want to make sure we're raiding 6 hours per week. We expect you to be available for at least 90% of our raids. Be on time and prepared for raids. This includes flasks and other consumables. Discord is mandatory and a working mic is desired. You're appropriately geared for our current content. Effort and thought have been put into your gear/gem/enchant choices. You wouldn't show up for a job interview looking like a *filtered*, why would you apply to a guild with improper gems or some insane spec? You're up to date with your class. We expect our raiders to perform to the best of their abilities. You have a computer that's not run with hamster power or requires a hand crank. Some encounters are taxing on a computer's resources so if your toon can't even handle Orgrimmar it's not likely to do well with 20+ whelps that need AOE'ing. You may be interested in us because:
<Fun is for Casuals> uses the personal loot system. There is no loot council, or DKP. We won't eat your babies the first time you stand in something you have no business being in. Repeatedly do it and we'll break out the bibs and BBQ sauce. We provide a limited amount of consumables and flasks on hard mode raid nights.  Discord isn't a circus during raids. We're focused on the job at hand and you should be too. We don't want someone to miss a an interrupt because they were distracted by fart jokes. We are not interested in you if you fit the following criteria:
You roll on BoE items then sell them. Unwilling/unable to spend an entire evening on one boss during progression. While this is rare, it can happen. Drama queens. If you have a problem bring it up to E. This is his job. Don't announce it in guild chat or during a raid. Your issue will have nothing to do with 99% of the guild. You are 17 or younger. We try to keep guild and discord chat PG-13 but occasionally a few four letter words appear out of nowhere. Additionally, we don't want someone's mom interrupting their raiding to get homework or the dishes done. Follow the instructions at https://gow.gg/fun-is-for-casuals under the Recruitment tab if you would like to apply.

Welcome Adventurers! The time has come upon us, FINALLY! The moment in Classic WoW history us diehard, loyal WoW nerds have all been waiting for. WRATH CLASSIC! Arthas Did Nothing Wrong (ADNW) has just begun recruiting (For WotLK Classic) hard-core, casual, rp, pvp, pve, raiders, anything you can think of, you are welcomed here. Although our main focus in ADNW will be progressive raiding, 10 and 25 man and pvp content, we look to have someone for just about anything. Currently we are recruiting for our CORE 10M team composed entirely of irl / internet homies. We are in need of just 1 HEALER (Highly prefer a disc priest with a shadow off spec) and another DPS. Preferably lock or Shadow priest. We are looking to fill our B 10m team entirely, so we can pool together for 25 man’s when it comes time to crush 25m. This guild was founded by a group of tight nit friends recently, who have been around since TBC. WOTLK was our turning point in WoW, and we CANNOT wait to get another crack at this and MAKE IT RIGHT. Come join the adventure of a chill environment full of helpful hands and knowledge. Feel free to reach out to me Via Discord: Daevilmonkiexp#9239 OR Bnet: Daevilmonkie#1280 just let me know you are interested in the guild and we can have a convo! ARTHAS DID NOTHING WRONG!

      Hi Team
I am recently returning from a few years away from the game and I have decided to go back to my much loved main throughout wrath, the feral druid. I have always been a cut above the rest and managed to be top dps all through wrath.
I was reading your guide and noticed in the talents you don't take savage roar. Can you explain the match behind this as to me it seems like the more viable option.
