Oribos Skybox Explained

Recommended Posts

We're exploring the Oribos skybox and explain what you can see there. Slight spoilers ahead.

Anima is the life force of Shadowlands, but the main problem is that currently, it is all flowing straight into the Maw, as seen in the Oribos skybox, causing Anima drought, which is the primary concern of Shadowlands and its inhabitants.

First, it's important to look at the map of Shadowlands. Oribos is the main hub located in the center, and the city's outer ring has four spots with great views on each of the corresponding zones: Ardenweald, Bastion, Maldraxxus, and Revendreth.

From these locations, we see Anima flowing from each of the zones.

Here's Anima flowing from Ardendweald.

Where does all this Anima end up? In the Maw! There, you have Gorgoa (River of Souls), which flows directly into Torghast, Tower of the Damned. While this area has not been enabled for testing on Alpha yet, we assume there will be some shenanigans going on between the Arbiter or Jailer and Sylvanas that we will help uncover as the expansion unfolds.

Do you think the souls are somehow fueling Torghast? Let us know your theories in the comments down below!

3D Artist Dronmo has created a jungle in Unreal Engine 4 inspired by Stranglethorn Vale.
Here's a comparison of the Stranglethorn Vale in World of Warcraft and the recreated version of the zone in Unreal Engine 4 taken from ArtStation.

Here's another comparison of the zone.

The artist teamed up with his friend, a guitar virtuoso, who produced ambient relaxing music for the video.

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas tweeted about why Blizzard ended up allowing Blood/Void Elves to have blue eyes, even though he said they were only intended for NPCs in the Zoltan Interview a while back.
Earlier this week, we looked at new Blood Elf/Void Elf customization options coming in the Shadowlands expansion, and much to our surprise, they included new blue eye color options, allowing players to technically become High Elves in the game.

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas replied in a tweet that they had a conversation with the team about new customization options and the recent blog is what they ended up with.
      (Source)
I think @WatcherDev honestly knew for a while about the eye change options coming and still said it was NPCs only just to get a bit more of a laugh about it. I can say Id for sure do the same thing. Good that player agency is a priority again though.
Honestly that was the plan at the time, but the game is vast, so specific questions often go unexamined while attention is elsewhere. After that interview, the team spun up a fresh conversation about BElf/VElf customization options, and the recent blog lays out where we ended up.
