Corruption System Will Be Removed in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch

Blizzard plans to disable the Corruption System in the Shadowlands pre-patch.

Another interesting bit from the PandaTV interview deals with Corruption that will cease to work in the Shadowlands pre-patch that should go live four to six weeks prior to the expansion.

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas said the game is broken right now and there's nothing they can do with someone who has 100% Critical Chance, that's why they are disabling the whole system in the first place, they will preserve a legacy tooltip on Preserved Contaminants that will turn into Spoiled Contaminants, e.g. Spoiled Contaminant Spoiled Contaminant.

Azerite gear and Essences won't stop working in the pre-patch.

Quote

"Corruption is completely going away in the 9.0 pre-patch, so as soon as 9.0 drops, canonically, N'Zoth is dead. We have destroyed the Old God, his corruption has been cleansed from Azeroth, and we may preserve a legacy tooltip on the gear, but it's a mix of moving the story line forward, and frankly, the game is pretty broken right now. Part of why that's been okay is that we know it's for a short period of time. There's really no way to deal with somebody who has 100% crit rates and all that stuff going into new content. Enjoy this silly season, but post-squish, we'll get back to a normalized space and re-tune all the contents so that people can everything they were accustomed to doing with all your Corruption, so if you were able to do it before 9.0, you will be able to do it at max level in 9.0. We don't want to change any of that. Essences and Azerite Armor will continue to work."

Ion Hazzikostas <Game Director>

Shadowlands will have no Warforging, Titanforging, or any similar system.

You can watch the part where Ion discusses Essences in the VoD below.

I'm surprised this needed to be said. Shutting artifact weapons down at the end of Legion wasn't just a story line, those weapons fully upgraded were around 225-230 ilvl -and- had game altering traits that would have made them competitive against max level weapons when BfA launched. BfA to Shadowlands would be no different, even factoring in stat loss from leveling.

This needed to be said for clarification, at least players wouldn't be shocked when they logged into pre-patch.
I am more surprised by the fact that he admitted the game is broken, perhaps even they could not stomach the insanity of the corruption system. 🤣

Aw, I was really hoping to play with corruption while leveling 10-50 in the shadowlands rework. I wanted to deal with Thing From Beyond and so on while leveling...

I definitely think this is better for pre-patch and leveling 50-60 though, of course.

Covenant abilities, soulbinds, legendaries, conduits, they say they can balance all of these, but they couldn't balance a handful of corruptions with simple number scaling?

Corruptions were an awful addition, it essentially took pvp into an unbalanced situation and allowed players to dish out free proc damage without any attention to their skill.

Honestly, corruptions could have been a good system, which I would have liked to see extended into shadowlands...

...if Blizzard had actually balanced them worth a damn.    Obviously the system is a consequence of 8.3 being one of their biggest rushjobs ever 😕

On top of that, we don't know what they are going to add in later patches. Essences only came out later in BfA, so these systems in Shadowlands might not be all we are going to see for the rest of that expansion, which is already somewhat bloated in this aspect.

I can't wait for corruption to end! There are many altaholics - like me - who cry when you get a weapon at long last...and it has 66 corruption! They should have put corruption on as an OPTION only!

Uhm...you can cleanse it almost for free 😄

Sinrunner Reins is a new and probably secret mount that you can obtain in Shadowlands.
We currently do not know what happened to good Old Blanchy after it died back in Westfall, but the mount has a Venthyr hue to it, so we speculate that its soul ended up in Revendreth for some reason.
Sinrunner Reins teaches you Sinrunner Blanchy, so we know for sure it is the same horse we previously encoutered, but what sins did Blanchy commit remains to be seen.
Other datamined spells and items tied to the mount and the NPC that you need to interact with to get it are:
Blanket for Blanchy (DNT) requires Comfortable Saddle Blanket "A soft and comfortable blanket for regulating body temperature." Blanchy Horseshoes (DNT) > Requires 4 Sturdy Horseshoes "Protective footwear for horse-like creatures." Groomed Blanchy (DNT) > Requires Grooming Brush "A circular motion with the stiff bristled brush removes and soothes itches." Watered Blanchy (DNT) > Requires Bucket of Clean Water "Guaranteed to quench the greatest thirst." Apples for Blanchy (DNT) indicates that you will need three Dredhollow Apple to create Sinrunner Reins, which seems to be the final step in getting the mount.
Based on the number of items you must acquire, we think the mount will be tied to some secret, where you must brush the horse, provide it with a blanket, clean water, and so on.
Here's how the mount looks like in the game.

Some rumors were circulating about the removal of Herald of the Titans in Shadowlands after the level squish. Luckily, we're able to confirm the achievement is there, but the requirements were squished down too.
If you want to get the Herald of Titans achievement in Shadowlands before the squish on live servers, you must be at level 80 and have nobody in the raid wear items higher than item level 100. With the Shadowlands level squish, you will need to defeat Algalon at level 30 wearing items no higher than item level 35.
Herald of the Titans in Visions of N'Zoth Herald of the Titans in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch Herald of the Titans - Defeat Algalon the Observer at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing items higher than Item Level 100. Herald of the Titans - Defeat Algalon the Observer at level 30 without anyone in the raid wearing items higher than Item Level 35.

Niya, one of the Soulbinds available to members of the Night Fae Covenant, comes with an interesting Soulbind trait that mimics the Shadowmeld Night Elf racial.
If you decide to join the Night Fae Covenant, you will gain access to the Soulshape Signature Ability, which increases your Movement Speed by 50% and teleports you 15 yards forward on a short cooldown.
Niya, one of the Night Fae Soulbinds, comes with the Sylvari Mantle that conceals you when Soulshape ends until you move, so it acts pretty much like the Shadowmeld, the Night Elf racial.
Other Soulbind traits that you can get through Niya include:
Row 1: Stay on the Move (on the same row with Sylvari Mantle) Row 4: Niya's Tools: Burrs // Niya's Tools: Poison // Niya's Tools: Herbs Row 7: Care Package // Swift Patrol Row 8: Grove Invigoration Note that you can only pick one Soulbind trait per row.
      Here's Niya's full Soulbind Path.
