Talents

  • Level 13
    • Burning RageBurning Rage [Passive]
      • Removed.
    • New Talent: Burning Beetles [Passive]
      • Deal 21 damage every second to nearby enemies. Beetles deal 7 damage to nearby enemies.
Developer Comment: We saw some feedback that Anub’arak’s Burning Rage could be better themed for the hero, and we agreed. We present to you, Burning Beetles!

Arthas

Base

  • Howling BlastHowling Blast [W]
    • Range increased from 8 to 9.

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Frost PresenceFrost Presence [W]
      • Bonus range to Howling Blast reduced from 30% to 20%.
  • Level 20
    • Death's AdvanceDeath's Advance [Active]
      • Is now an E talent.
      • New functionality: Increase Movement Speed by 10%. Frozen Tempest’s maximum Slow and Attack Speed Slow increased from 40% to 60%.
Developer Comment: Howling Blast has been the same for a very long time, almost since the inception of our game. Many things have changed since then, and we believe a range increase is warranted due to how average ranges of various abilities and effects have changed since that time.

Blaze

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Endurance StimpackEndurance Stimpack [Active]
      • Shield amount increased from 480 to 530.
  • Level 4
    • Incinerator GauntletsIncinerator Gauntlets [Passive]
      • Bonus damage to Minons, Mercenaries, and Monsters reduced from 70% to 50%.
Developer Comment: While we achieved our previous goal of making Incinerator Gauntlets a powerful PvE option, we overshot a bit and are reducing its power to be more in line with what other Warriors can bring to the table in this area.

E.T.C.

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Guitar HeroGuitar Hero [E]
      • Duration bonus increased from .25 to .5 seconds.
      • Healing reduced from 60% to 50% damage dealt.
  • Level 4
    • Crowd SurferCrowd Surfer [Q]
      • Additional functionality: If Powerslide hits no enemies, then reduce its cooldown by 5 seconds and refund its Mana cost.
  • Level 7
    • Hammer-onHammer-on [Passive]
      • New functionality: While Guitar Solo is active, Basic Attacks deal 30% bonus damage.
  • Level 13
    • EncoreEncore [W]
      • Additional functionality: Enemy Heroes knocked back by Face Melt or the Amp reduce E.T.C.’s Heroic cooldown by 8%.
  • Level 20
    • Crowd PleaserCrowd Pleaser [R2]
      • No longer reduces the cooldown of Stage Dive.
      • Additional functionality: Increase the Slow amount of Stage Dive by 30%.
Developer Comment: We were a little hesitant to make talent changes to E.T.C. due to how well he has been performing, even though we felt he could use some help in that department. We don’t believe that holding off indefinitely on needed talent improvements just because a Hero is performing well serves our Heroes in the best way over the long term, so we’re making these improvements and will adjust accordingly once we see how they settle.

Mei

Talents

  • Level 4
    • Crystallize [Trait]
      • Armor amount reduced from 50 to 40.
    • Cold Front [E]
      • Cooldown reduction increased from 7 to 8 seconds.
      • Mana return increased from 50 to 70.
  • Level 10
    • Avalanche [R1]
      • Cooldown increased from 70 to 90 seconds.
      • Mana cost increased from 70 to 80.
  • Level 13
    • Flurry [W]
      • Cooldown refresh rate increased from 75% to 100%.
Developer Comment: We are super happy with where Mei is sitting overall, but wanted to continue tuning some talents to help even things out. While doing so, we also increased the cooldown of Avalanche substantially, as it feels like she has too much up-time on its availability in team fights.

Muradin

Base

  • Storm BoltStorm Bolt [Q]
    • Quest completion also causes Muradin’s Basic Attacks to grant him 3 Mana.
Developer Comment: It was not our intention that Muradin have more Mana tension when his baseline quest for Storm Bolt was completed. Since Muradin already has a decent amount of Mana tension, we felt it was appropriate that this was lessened once he completes his quest.

Bruiser

Chen

Base

  • Breath of FireBreath of Fire [W]
    • DoT damage increased from 55 to 57.

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Freshest IngredientsFreshest Ingredients [Trait]
      • Regeneration Globe duration increased from 100% to 150%.
  • Level 16
    • CelerityCelerity [E]
      • Cooldown reduction increased from 1.5 to 2 seconds.
Developer Comment: We’re giving Chen some small buffs that we believe are warranted to help out his ability to pressure enemies as well as beef up some underperforming talents. We don’t expect these changes to drastically change how he plays, but they should help him perform better in the laning phase and give him some extra power to look forward to in later parts of the game.

Deathwing

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Molten BloodMolten Blood [Trait]
      • Healing increased from .5% to .6% maximum Health.
Developer Comment: This talent change is meant to compensate for our earlier changes to Deathwing where we lowered his Health.

Healer

Deckard

Talents

  • Level 16
    • Safety in NumbersSafety in Numbers [Trait]
      • Required number of allied Heroes nearby to gain bonuses reduced from 3 to 2.
      • Armor bonus reduced from 15 to 10.
Developer Comment: We want Safety in Numbers to be a more consistent talent to get value out of, so we’re lowering the requirement for Deckard to be near only 2 friendly Heroes instead of 3, and slightly lowering its bonus to compensate.

Tyrande

Base

  • Light of EluneLight of Elune [Q]
    • Healing increased from 255 to 270.

Talents

  • Level 13
    • Harsh MoonlightHarsh Moonlight [W]
      • Now applies its Slow and damage reduction to all targets hit, as well as visually shrinking them.
      • Damage reduction reduced from 40% to 35%.
      • Slow amount reduced from 40% to 35%.
    • Ranger's MarkRanger's Mark [Trait]
      • Cooldown reduction of Lunar Flare increased from 1.5 to 3 seconds.
  • Level 16
    • EmpowerEmpower [W]
      • Now deals bonus damage to all targets hit.
Developer Comment: We’re giving Tyrande a baseline Healing buff as well as making her W build more synergistically powerful. To compensate, we’re slightly reducing Harsh Moonlight’s power, though we still believe it will still be an incredibly strong talent, particularly when paired with Ranger at Level 1.

Uther

Base

  • Health reduced from 2000 to 1975.
  • Health Regeneration reduced from 4.17 to 4.11.
  • Holy RadianceHoly Radiance [W]
    • Cooldown reduced from 12 to 10 seconds.
    • Mana cost reduced from 70 to 55.
    • Healing amount increased from 177 to 194.

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Wave of LightWave of Light [W]
      • Cooldown reduction reduced from 1 to .75 seconds.
  • Level 16
    • Beacon of LightBeacon of Light [Q]
      • Adjusted functionality: Uther receives 100% bonus self-healing when healing others with Holy Light. This bonus is increased to 200% while he is below 50% Health.
    • Tyr's DeliveranceTyr's Deliverance [W]
      • New functionality: Increase the damage and healing of Holy Radiance by 10%. Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes cause Uther’s next cast of Holy Radiance to have its damage and healing increased by an additional 10%, stacking up to 4 times.
Developer Comment: While Uther’s weakness to Poke and persistent AoE damage is intended, we feel he’s a little too sharp in this direction, which too often disincentivizes players from running him as a Healer on his team. We’re making him a bit better in this regard while also improving a couple of his Level 16 talents.

Melee Assassin

Illidan

Talents

  • Level 4
    • Rapid ChaseRapid Chase [Q]
      • Additional functionality: Reduce the cooldown of Dive by 1 second when it deals damage to an enemy Hero.
  • Level 7
    • Hunter's OnslaughtHunter's Onslaught [Trait]
      • Healing increased from 25% to 35% of damage dealt.
  • Level 16
    • Fiery BrandFiery Brand [Passive]
      • Attacks required to deal bonus damage reduced from 4 to 3.
      • Damage reduced from 9% to 7% maximum Health.
Developer Comment: We’re making some simple changes to underperforming talents that should make them more competitive.

Qhira

Talents

  • Level 7
    • The ThirstThe Thirst [Q]
      • Adjusted functionality: Carnage heals for 50% of the damage dealt to enemy Heroes. Anytime Carnage damages an enemy Hero, Qhira’s next Basic Attack within 4 seconds against an enemy Hero deals 15% additional damage, stacking up to 10 times.
    • Siphoning LinkSiphoning Link [E]
      • Additional functionality: Qhira heals for 20% of her damage dealt by Basic Attacks.
  • Level 16
    • Lingering AilmentLingering Ailment [E]
      • Additional functionality: Enemy Heroes hit by Grappling Hook have their Armor reduced by 15 for 3 seconds.
    • Swing Life AwaySwing Life Away [E]
      • Cooldown recharge rate increased from 200% to 250%.
Developer Comment: We’re making some simple talent changes that should help Qhira’s tiers be more competitive. Siphoning link in particular should be a lot more attractive now that it provides a bonus that is not reliant on hitting her Revolving Sweep, which is on a fairly long cooldown.

Zeratul

Talents

  • Level 20
    • Unwavering PressureUnwavering Pressure [W]
      • Adjusted functionality: Remove the Mana cost of Singularity Spike. Basic Attacks against non-Heroic targets reduce the cooldown of Singularity Spike by 1.25 second, and by 2.5 seconds against enemy Heroes.
    • Shadow StrideShadow Stride [Passive]
      • Additional functionality: Casting Vorpal Blade grants Zeratul a Shield that absorbs 260 damage over 3 seconds.
Developer Comment: We missed the mark on our initial changes to Zeratul’s Level 20 talents. We’re beefing them up to be more competitive.

Ranged Assassin

Cassia

Talents

  • Level 7
    • Surge of LightSurge of Light [Trait]
      • Damage reduced from 285 to 250.
  • Level 16
    • Power StrikePower Strike [Q]
      • Additional functionality: Heroes hit by Lightning Fury reduce its cooldown by 1 second.
Developer Comment: While more in-line after the past couple of balance changes, there were still a couple talents we wanted to address. Surge of Light is still slightly over-performing, while Power Strike needed something to give it a bit more punch. Lowering the damage of Surge of Light and giving a small cooldown reduction functionality to Power Strike should shift both talents into a better spot overall.

Chromie

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Deep BreathingDeep Breathing [W]
      • New functionality: Quest: Every time Dragon’s Breath hits an enemy Hero, increase its damage by 1.5%, up to 30%. Reward: After hitting 20 Heroes, reduce the cooldown of Dragon’s Breath by 5 seconds and its Mana cost from 65 to 30.
    • Timewalker's PursuitTimewalker's Pursuit [Active]
      • New functionality: Gain 15% Spell Power and reduce the arming time of Time Traps by .75 seconds. Activate to reveal the targeted area for 2 seconds. Enemies seen are revealed for 4 seconds. 25-second cooldown.
  • Level 5
    • Mobius LoopMobius Loop [W]
      • New functionality: Dragon’s Breath deals 50% bonus damage to enemies hit by its center. Enemy Heroes hit by its center are Slowed by 60% for 1 second.
  • Level 8
    • Slowing SandsSlowing Sands [R1]
      • Slow amount increased from 7% to 10% per every .25 seconds.
  • Level 11
    • Here and ThereHere and There [Active]
      • Teleport range increased from 11 to 20.
  • Level 18
    • UnravellingUnravelling [R1]
      • Spell Armor reduction increased from 5 to 7.
      • Spell Armor maximum stacks reduced from 6 to 5.
      • Additional functionality: Slowing Sands persists for 5 seconds after it is cancelled.
Developer Comment: Once Again the First Time is currently dominating Chromie’s Level 1 talents, which in turn greatly influences which talents Chromie players want to take on later tiers. The primary goal of these changes is to provide compelling, alternative ways to play her that can compete with what the talent currently offers.

Junkrat

Base

  • Basic Attack damage increased from 110 to 120.

Talents

  • Level 1
    • Extra-Wound TimersExtra-Wound Timers [Q]
      • Bonus damage on final grenade increased from 60% to 80%.
  • Level 13
    • Bombs AwayBombs Away [Q]
      • Bonus damage increased from 25% to 30%.
  • Level 20
    • I Hate Waiting!I Hate Waiting! [Z]
      • Mount cooldown reduced from 12 to 8 seconds.
Developer Comment: Junkrat has fallen out of the meta a bit, and these changes are intended to help him be more competitive. His Basic Attack buff in particular should help him clear waves more effectively in the early game as well as serve as an extra incentive for players to try taking Bombs Away at Level 13.

Zul'jin

Talents

  • Level 20
    • New Talent: A Surprise For Ya [Passive]
      • Basic Attacks bounce to a nearby enemy for 50% damage, prioritizing enemy Heroes.
Developer Comment: As the talent states, We’ve got a surprise for ya! We’ve added Level 20 Basic Attack talent for Zul’jin that we think will be a fun, compelling option for aggressive players.

Uther and Chromie changes are interesting. The W abilities are pretty underplayed.

This may make Uther suck even more in lower skill games though by tricking people into grabbing it, similar to Ana.

I usually use it to prep a target to then bonus heal, so it would be nice to experiment a bit.

Chromie looks like W + Teleport might be useful as a hit and run, maybe double soak?

No major changes, but I like some of the buffed alternative build options: AA ETC, Owl Tyrande, Armor/Radiance Uther, Q Cassia, W Chromie and AA Qhira.

chromie still need back last time range and auto time trap due to now more and more mobile enemy. If this game only 1-3 mobile heroes then  is still ok but now 1/3 of heroes are high mobile, Time stop should not affect on own side heroes.

That Deathwing change is a joke right? Like the time they added 12 HP onto Blaze's bunker? Seriously they have massively overnerfed that hero down to a single Fire-Breath Build being the only sorta-kinda viable way to play him now.

The Mei changes, especially to her Trait feel like they'll probably put her to where she should be in terms of power and tank so I'm glad to see that finally locked down. Nothing else got my attention other than some buffs to ETC to encourage the use of Powerslide as an escape and Illidan getting a mild buff to a lvl4 talent that might have interesting synergies later on down the line.

Oh, and some minor inconsequntial tinkering with Anuburak which only caught my eye because I like that sassy beetle.

Agree about Deathwing. he used to be strong when he came out, then in almost every patch he got nerfed. Now it's just too much and there isn't much reason to pick him, with %hp damage heroes still destroying him, while he doesn't have anything to offset this.

Senior Game Designer Adam Jackson, also known as AZJackson in the Heroes community, has left the Heroes of the Storm team for another project within Blizzard.
The Heroes of the Storm team has yet again lost a valuable asset. Senior Game Designer Adam Jackson announced he's leaving for another project within the company.
The important question is: How many developers remain on the Heroes of the Storm team right now?
Here's Adam's "Thank You and Farewell" message he left on the official forums.
      (Source)
      Hello friends,
I’ve always believed that strong communication and building trust is paramount to making the world a better place, so I wanted to have the chance to talk with all of you about a change to the team.
I’ve reached a point in my career where I’ve come to the difficult decision to move on to another project. I’ve been a part of the Heroes team for a very long time now, and in order to grow as a person and a designer, I believe it’s important to constantly challenge myself in new ways. I’m still going to be at Blizzard, and I’m very excited about the new challenges that I get to overcome and the awesome experiences that I’ll be able to help bring to you.
I know these kinds of things are never great to hear, however I wanted to reassure you that we did hire a replacement for my position, and that it was someone who I was able to personally vet because it was very important to both me and the team that the game had someone who we felt could do the job and do it well. They have been around since the beginning of the game’s life and are just as passionate as I am about making Heroes the best that it can be. I have total faith that they will do a good job.
Being able to work on the Heroes team was such a life-changing experience for me. I first started in QA on a team who, among many other things, got to play the very first versions of Heroes and give feedback to the developers on the many, many wacky ideas that were iterated on to make this game something special. This was the first Hero Brawler MOBA that I ever played, and once I started playing I couldn’t wait to come into work on the days where we got to playtest it. I knew we were creating something special, and I wanted so badly to be a part of it.
I still vividly remember getting the call that I got the job to be a designer on this team, and shedding tears of joy outside of one of our buildings when it happened. It was a surreal moment for me because, like so many others, I had dreamed for many, many years of being a designer at Blizzard Entertainment with low expectations of it actually happening. It was one of those things you think would be the best thing in the world – but of course life can be hard and actually achieving those crazy, long-shot dreams is rare. I’m lucky to have been given a chance to work on this great game with incredibly talented people.
Over the last couple of years I was also given the chance to oversee a lot of the content that went into the game. Being able to create and execute on my own balance philosophies for such a large IP was an incredible experience that I’m very grateful to have had. I want to say thank you to Blizzard and to the leaders on the team who had enough faith in me to take on such a monumental task. I also want to thank those who are currently or have worked on Heroes in the past. You know who you are and how special this project was and is, and I have nothing but the highest respect for you all.
I want to say thank you to those who are reading this for continuing to support us. As someone on the inside, I can tell you that the people who work on Heroes care deeply about giving you the best experience that they can. Even if we don’t always respond, I can assure you that your posts, your views, and your passion for our game do not go unnoticed. I’ve read almost every post on our forums, on Reddit, and have spent countless hours watching various streamers and live events. We’re watching and enjoying this ride just as much as you are.
I want to leave with a quote that has stuck with me that I blatantly stole from a good friend.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” – Winnie the Pooh
I’ll see you all… In the Nexus.

New Hero: Hogger Nexus Anomaly Collection Storm League Heroes Bug Fixes New Hero: Hogger, Scourge of Elwynn
Hogger, a chaotic, mobile, bruiser who creates terrain and deals heavy area damage, now joins the battle in the Nexus!
      Trait [D]
Loot Hoard Throw a pile of junk that deals 102 damage in a small area and acts as terrain for 5 seconds. Upon expiration, a scrap of Meat is dislodged from the Hoard that Hogger can collect to restore 3% of his maximum Health every second for 5 seconds. Cooldown: 20 seconds. Trait [Passive]
Rage Rage is gained by taking damage or dealing Basic Attack damage. Hogger’s Basic Ability cooldowns refresh 1% faster for every 2 points of Rage. After 3 seconds of not gaining Rage, it begins to quickly decay. Basic Abilities
Staggering Blow [Q] Swing your chain in a wide arc, dealing 140 damage to enemies hit and knocking them away. If an enemy collides with terrain, they are dealt an additional 150 damage, Stunned for .75 seconds, and grant Hogger 10 Rage. Cooldown: 12 seconds. Ez-Thro Dynamite [W] Toss a boot full of Dynamite with a 1.5 second fuse. Upon detonation, enemies take 180 damage and are Slowed by 30% for 2 seconds. The Dynamite instantly detonates when landing directly on an enemy Hero and grants Hogger 10 Rage. Cooldown: 8 seconds. Hogg Wild [E] After .25 seconds, become Unstoppable and uncontrollably spin towards the targeted direction, ricocheting off any terrain encountered. Every .25 seconds, deal 36 damage to nearby enemies, increased by 1% for each current point of Rage. Ricocheting off terrain refreshes the duration of the spin. Cooldown: 14 seconds. No longer deals damage to Structures. Heroic Abilities
Hoardapult [R1] Launch an empowered Loot Hoard with Hogger attached, dealing 140 damage and Slowing enemies by 50% for 2 seconds. Hoardapult’s Loot Hoard lasts for up to 20 seconds, but decays rapidly while Hogger isn’t nearby. Every 10 seconds Hogger can take a chunk of Meat from the Loot Hoard. Cooldown: 50 seconds. Shockwave [R2] After .5 seconds, slam the ground, sending out a shockwave that travels in a long line. Enemies hit by the initial slam take 306 damage and are Stunned for 1.25 seconds. Enemies only hit by the shockwave take 210 damage and are Stunned for .75 seconds. Cooldown: 70 seconds. Talent
Level 1 Journeyman Cooking [W] Quest: Hitting an enemy Hero with Ez-Thro Dynamite restores 6% of Hogger’s maximum Health and permanently increases Hogger’s Health by 10, to a maximum of 750 bonus Health. Bones to Gnaw [Trait] Loot Hoard creates Meat on ground impact. While Meat is active, gain 10 armor. On The Prowl [Active] Activate to gain 30 Rage over 8 seconds. Passive: Hogger heals for 6 Health every second, increased by 2% for each point of Rage he has. Cooldown: 45 seconds. Level 4 Brute Strength [Q] Increase the range of Loot Hoard by 15%. Each Hero hit by Staggering Blow will permanently increase Hogger’s Basic Attack damage by 1, up to 100 bonus damage. Terrain collision impacts grant 2 stacks of this effect. Aggro Range [E] Increase Hogg Wild’s area by 25% and generate 1 Rage per enemy hit, increased to 3 against Heroes. Hogger’s Joggers [Passive] While at or above 30 Rage, Hogger gains 10% increased Movement Speed and healing received. When above 50 Rage, increase these bonuses to 15%. Level 7 Seeing Red [Q/E] While above 50 Rage, Staggering Blow and Hogg Wild’s cooldowns refresh 30% faster and Hogger gains 25% increased Attack Speed. Dense Blasting Powder [W] Direct hits launch an additional stack of dynamite beyond the target. Hitting an Ez-Thro Dynamite with Staggering Blow launches 3 sticks of Dynamite. Garbage Fire [W/Trait] Reduce the cooldown of Loot Hoard by 4 seconds. Loot Hoard deals 22 damage every .5 seconds and Slows nearby enemies by 20% in a large area. Level 13 Dust Devil [E] Hogg Wild grants 40 30 Armor while active and for 3 seconds after it ends. Increase this Armor value to 60 50 if Hogger has 50 or more Rage. Pummel [E] Enemies hit by Hogg Wild are Slowed by 10% for 1.5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. Heroes hit also have their Spell Power reduced by 50% for 3 seconds. Bloodthirst [Passive] Hogger is healed for 33% of the damage dealt to Heroes by Basic Attacks, Hogg Wild, and Staggering Blow. Level 16 Headbanger [Q] Heroes that collide with terrain from Staggering Blow take an additional 8% of maximum health as damage and are stunned for an additional .5 seconds. Kablooie! [W] Direct Hits with Ez-Thro Dynamite deal 40% more damage, reduce its cooldown by 1.5 seconds and increase its Slow amount to 50%. [Passive] Ez-Thro Dynamite’s range is increased by 25%. Furzerker [Passive] Hitting Heroes with Staggering Blow or Ez-Thro Dynamite increases the damage of Hogger’s next Basic Attack by 50%. Stacking up to 2 Basic Attacks. When Hogg Wild ends, Hogger gains 30% Movement Speed for 2 seconds. Level 20 Secret Stash [R1] Every 2 seconds, Hoardapult’s Loot Hoard launches Ez-Thro Dynamite towards a random nearby enemy Hero. Every 5 seconds, a chunk or Meat is also launched towards Hogger. Power Spike [R2] Each Hero hit by Shockwave has their Armor reduced by 15 for 4 seconds and grants Hogger 20 Rage. [Passive] Shockwave’s cooldown is affected by Rage. No Control [E] [Active] Activate to cast an untalented Hogg Wild and chase an enemy Hero. After reaching the Hero, Hogger will switch to chasing another nearby enemy Hero. If no other enemy Heroes are within range of a chase target, this abilities’ duration will begin to rapidly decay. Lasts for up to 6 5 seconds. Cannot be canceled. 60 second cooldown. Anger Management [Passive] Increase Hogger’s maximum Rage by 50. Basic Attacks generate 5 additional Rage. Return to Top
