Player Pays Blizzard France a Visit After Being Banned for Excessive Linen Cloth Farming

Recommended Posts

With WoW Classic Phase 5 and the War Effort, players have been farming Linen ClothLinen Cloth for extensive periods to complete it. Surprisingly, some have even been suspended and have visited the Blizzard HQ in France to find out what happened.

UPDATE: The suspended player explains they have the Scepter in their bag and that three out of the five suspensions have been overturned.

Quote

"For more explanations, i had just farmed a lot of linen with my guild and other player of my server to finish the Amnennar(Eu) war effort and open the AQ's Gate.
We farmed at Westfall on dynamic respawn spot, so the amount of linen was totally crazy !
The Aq's gate open yesterday and i was scarab lord so my scepter is totally lost and will stay in my bag because of this incredible mistake of Blizzard.
We were 5 people banned for this, and 3 of them are now overtunned but i'm still waiting..........

My guild lost his MT1, officer, scarab lord, guild bank ! Thanks to Blizzard !

If you could up my Reddit post in the article, maybe this story could finish faster ! And i hope Blizzard will give me the scarab in compensation for this error 'cause the scepter is in my bag."

The story comes from Reddit user kalafty, who was farming Linen ClothLinen Cloth to complete the War Effort on Amnennar (EU). The player and another guildie were suspended for using third-party software while farming cloth, so they appealed the suspensions, and here are some responses they got from the Game Masters (in French).

The first response says their accounts were suspended for using third-party software.

In the second appeal, they explained how they farmed cloth with dynamic respawns and received another response from the Game Masters.

The second response says other players reported them for cheating and exploiting game mechanics, and the suspension will last until February 19, 2021.

The second and final appeal didn't bring any luck either as Blizzard decided not to revert the bans.

Blizzard did not revert their suspensions even after the final appeal has been made.

After their unsuccessful appeals, they contacted the French site JudgeHype who also posted about their case to bring more attention to the matter.

Finally, Reddit user kalafty went to the Blizzard HQ in Versailles in person, but the security guard told them nobody was there since everyone's working from home due to COVID-19.

We do not condone cheating, but we also can't confirm or deny if the players used any bots, but rest assured the case at least deserves to be reviewed again, as we've seen many players wrongfully suspended in the past, and their suspensions reverted.

Long story short.

I previously worked for an MMO and was involved in the detection of third party software usage.
We had players turn up to the office to appeal their bans from time to time.
Management had to tell us not to go outside and giggle at them, because the poor souls obviously didn't know how these things worked.

Sad thing is that people think that going directly to their offices are really going to change anything, but the reality is that places like Google, Youtube, Apple, and even Blizzard have to raise alarms to their employees inside when they catch wind that a possible customer is outside that might be trying to find their way inside the building or maybe just lingering outside because they don't know what this person may attempt though the person may have no intentions to do any harm.

So long story short.. Never decide to go to the offices because 1. You aren't going to get anywhere by doing it. 2. You are just wasting your time and theirs . and 3.  You are causing a scene which could effect those that don't even have control over what actions were taken to the account.

War Within Alpha should be just around the corner! When do we expect the latest expansion testing to start?
If you've been keeping an eye on the World of Warcraft 2024 roadmap, you're likely excited about what's coming up! According to the roadmap, the War Within Alpha is expected to kick off sometime after Patch 10.2.6, which was released two weeks ago, and before the beginning of Season 4.

Typically, a season lasts 22 weeks. Right now, we're in the 20th week of Season 3, with just about two weeks left. Let's break down the hypothetical timeline:
Season 3 Week 20: Week of March 26 Season 3 Week 21: Week of April 2 Season 3 Week 22: Week of April 9 Season 4 Week 1: Week of April 15 This schedule suggests that the War Within Alpha could potentially launch as early as next week or during the week of April 9.
The most recent news from the War Within camp came on March 27, when Blizzard rolled out a fresh encrypted internal build on the WoW Dev CDN. The internal builds are becoming more and more frequent which indicates Blizzard's ramping up to start testing in the very near future.
Placeholder for tweet 1772901807448052151 In the meantime, we encourage you to check out everything coming in the War Within pre-patch that will release 1 month before the actual expansion.

Executive Producer Holly Longdale teased some upcoming experimental PvE-focused content that Blizzard will soon reveal to the community.
It appears that Plunderstorm isn't the only new mode Blizzard plans to add to WoW this year.
Holly Longdale today teased an upcoming PvE-oriented event that will soon be revealed to us. Holly might be talking about the "Timerunning Pandamonium," expected in Patch 10.2.7.

      Greetings Citizens of Azeroth,
It’s been great seeing so many players taking the plunge into Plunderstorm and we’ve loved seeing all of the stories and feedback as this experimental event evolves. It will be exciting to see some of the community content creators going head-to-head as duos during the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on March 30!  This isn’t the end of the things we want to try in World of Warcraft, however, and we have more in store we can’t wait to show you.
Dragonflight Season 4 is in route as testing begins on the PTR and we’ll have more news to share soon™ on the next experiment we have up our sleeves. We hope those of you who are looking for PvE focused content will enjoy what we’re planning, all while we continue to press forward on development of our next expansion for World of Warcraft— The War Within.
We can’t wait to share with you all the many things the team has been hard at work on.
With gratitude and excitement for what we’ll do together next,
      Holly Longdale
