We have some good news for Unholy fans, as one of this week's beta changes has been reverted, with Dark Transformation returning to its previous standalone status in an upcoming build! Here's the blue post as well as the other changes from this week as well:

    Blizzard LogoClass Changes (source)

Thanks for feedback–in an upcoming build, we are reverting the recent change to Dark Transformation Dark Transformation. It will once again be its own ability.

    ...

We’ve continued to work from feedback that the Unholy opener can take too long to get going. Even with attempts to help alleviate this issue over the last few weeks, it’s still not where we would like it to be.

Unholy has quite a few iconic abilities and they aren’t easily removed. Thus, our goal with this week’s latest build is to reduce the number of cooldowns in the opener, help out Rune economy, and give access to a baseline AoE Runic Spender.

    Unholy

    • Summon Gargoyle Summon Gargoyle is moved back as a level 50 talent.
    • Unholy Pact Unholy Pact moved to the level 45 talent tier.
    • Epidemic Epidemic is baseline.
    • Dark Transformation Dark Transformation has been removed, and its functionality has been added to Apocalypse Apocalypse.
      • Developers’ notes: Legendaries and Conduits that interact with your ghoul while they have Dark Transformation still function as they did prior to this change.
    • Death Coil has updated to reduce the cooldown of Apocalypse by 1.5 seconds.
      • Developers’ notes: When you cast Apocalypse, your Dark Transformation is no longer delayed by a missile travel time.

    Blood

We have a small update for Blood to address the feedback about the Ossuary talent feeling mandatory.

Thanks for the continued feedback! Please keep it coming once you’ve had a chance to test the new build.

Well thats nice to read. :D Only after a few hours of me commenting. I guess I should have waited.
Now Mr. Blizzard just add Gargoyle back and give the Dark Arbiter talent for it to be strong. :)

    Well there's hoping.

    Suffer well, everyone.

Good call there, that change wasn't needed and took more away then the one gcd it added back in. Generally still ok with the gargoyle change, but I do see it as a real sticking point akin to BoS for frost. If it's powerful then it becomes mandatory and its a playstyle quite different than standard, if it's weak but mainly there for flavor, then its better off being baselined as no one will take it in that talent row if it isn't the clear best choice. It's more restrictive, and its niche of an additional CD may well be better answered by army of the damned potentially allowing a second army during a boss. It's tricky trying to add a 3 minute CD into a class that already feels relatively complete in its toolkit.

Honestly, I'd rather have it stay removed or reworked.

PvE-wise, it's just another button you press on CD with minimal player interaction. The only thoughtful usage is there for it being the Infected Claws/Bursting Sores build which turns it into a medium-strength AoE cooldown, but that's about it.

So, if anything, I'd rather have it as a talent replacing Infected Claws and ICs functionality being baked into it.

Blizzard for the love of God, remove the dark transformation from Dk unholy, and say that there were a lot of CDs? And if that was not enough, still remove the gagula again? Seriously, return the gargoyle, and do as it was in the legion as a Valkyria, improve the class don't destroy it

The Sprite Darter Wings transmog/shop item/gift with a 6-month subscription stirred up a very large debate, including the usual accusations of Blizzard selling out (for the 15th or so time), a slippery slope where more and more items go to the shop and similar, but we actually got something great out the controversy as well!
There's a new WoW meme format using the transmog set to perfection, mimicking the Putting on Clown Makeup classic. It uses the set nature of the transmog perfectly and localized the long-standing meme format to Azeroth. Here are some recent examples:

        Source.
The format is very wide and can handle any number of topics, like the now standard "Blizzard will fix it":

        Source.
        Or PvP:

        Source.
And finally, we come full-circle, as the format matches the content itself:

        Source.
This particular format doesn't seem to be going anywhere, and we're sure to see many more images use it, as the localized Azerothian memes grow in number!

We seem to finally have reached a point in the pre-patch where the hotfixes are getting smaller! This batch brings more Ny'alotha changes, in addition to... Wailing Caverns?

Ny’alotha, the Waking City Dark Inquisitor Xanesh Fixed an issue that prevented the encounter from starting after defeating the enemies in the Ritual Chamber on all difficulties. Wailing Caverns Lady Anacondra Thorns now deals appropriate damage.

Here come some ealy beta class changes for the week, as Paladins get a legendary redesign and more.
        October 27 (source)
Stopping in for two quick notes:
–Legendary “Shadowbreaker, Dawn of the Sun” redesigned in the next build. The new design will work with both Light of Dawn and Word of Glory—we wanted to avoid a situation where two Holy-specific legendaries only buffed Light of Dawn.
–Shining Light (Protection) duration extended. In general, “your next [ability]” buffs should be long enough that the time pressure to consume the buff isn’t too stressful.

Many expected the pre-patch event to start this week, but that didn't turn out to be the case, but we did get a very short glimpse instead! Everyone's least favorite minion, Nathanos Blightcaller, has shown up at his house in the Eastern Plaguelands where players were able to kill him! Unfortunately he isn't there anymore, as it was a temporary bug/bleed through from the pre-patch event, where he is in fact a world boss with a quest associated with him. Blizzard quickly fixed the issue, so he was up for only around 2 hours.
This didn't stop players from having their vengeance, either for the awful things he's done to the Alliance, or for the awful things he's said to Horde players! He didn't drop anything nor is he associated with any quests yet, so those of us that missed this short window will have to wait a bit more to wail on the annoying one.

Update: We've taken a look and talk about the relevance and accuracy of logs in general, so definitely make sure to check that out here.

Here we are at the start of week 3 of the Shadowlands pre-patch and we're taking another look at how the DPS specs are shaking out in Mythic Ny'alotha in this not-quite-BfA-or-Shadowlands period, with quite a few specs getting nerfs and hotfixes in the past week. Shadow and Affliction keep the top spots, as Arcane suffers some nerfs but sticks in there, and Fire Mages are coming back up as Frost also suffered some nerfs. As usual, we'll be taking a look at a few specs each week with our guide writers to see why they are where they are on the WarcraftLogs charts.
We're starting with the 95th percentile, as that's our main focus for the analysis:

And on to the 50th, just to get a better view of the playerbase:

The most important part of this look at the logs is our guide writers taking a look at the charts and giving us some insight into what's really happening, so let's start with Warlocks, who saw Demonology improve a lot over the past week and Affliction stay at the top.
Affliction and Demonology Warlock by Motoko:
Mages got hit with some changes last week and it has affected how the specs rank.
        All Mage specs by Dutchmagoz:
Elemental Shamans have been steady near the top since the pre-patch launched, so let's take a look at why.
        Elemental Shaman by Stormy:

That's it for this week, although we will be taking a bit of a deeper look at Feral Druids soon, as they've been near or at the bottom since the pre-patch arrived. For more information on each spec you can check out our pre-patch class guides as well.
