wow Afterlives: Revendreth Animated Short Arrives Today!

The final (or is it?) Afterlives animated short arrives today at 7PM CEST, 10AM PDT, featuring possibly one of the most relevant zones and Covenants for the Shadowlands story, Revendreth and the Venthyr. We already know that Castle Nathria is the first raid of the expansion and its final boss is well, you know who (and if you don't we won't spoil it) but we might find out more details on what's happening in today's short.

We've also spotted a particularly interesting character that might even be the focus of the short, as the preview trailer had a brief glimpse of what seems to be Garrosh himself!

Now we don't have any confirmation that it is indeed him, but his voice actor is listed in the Afterlives roster and those screams sound familiar. Since Garrosh was the focus of quite a lot of WoW lore, it might be a bit overkill to have him be the focal point of the short, and he's not the only one hanging out with vampires in Revendreth. But the next cameo/feature role candidate is a bit more of a secret (if you haven't been following the datamining etc):

Kael'thas is back once more and will be a boss in Castle Nathria, so we might actually get to see him in animated form as well, as he's clearly working with Sire Denathrius:

As for Revendreth itself, it's where flawed and prideful people go, those that can't serve a purpose in other realms of the Shadowlands. There they can try to atone for their sins and perhaps be redeemed - through lots and lots of torture by the vampires, known as the harvesters of sin.

Now about that "or is it" from the first sentence, there's been a lot of rumblings about a potential 5th short or even a full-fledged cinematic, featuring the Maw and, more importantly, the Jailer. We've seen a seemingly cinematic render from the latest issue of PCGamer, and it's looking like we have another empty week before the pre-patch (which is presumably still coming on September 29th, but could be even further away). It would also make sense to see the Maw, as we've now covered all the other zones of the Shadowlands (Oribos excluded, but it's just the hub city). But considering the entire storyline revolves around what's happening in the Maw and with the Jailer, it may be a bit too much to hope for before the release.

In any case, today's Revendreth edition of Afterlives is set to be something really good, as it will offer up perhaps the biggest chunk of actual story progression since these started, so here's hoping!

Dying to hear Garrosh's thoughts on Sylvanas handling the Horde. I mean, twisted as he was, he still wanted a prosperous future for his people, unlike Sylvanas.

Only for orcs, rest would have to die or submit. Sylvanas on the other hand didn't care about any race, she only wanted to further her own goals.

Well, I did say "his people" didn't I?) Garrosh is just too young, too much of an orc and Blizzard too in need of a last second "final" villian.
