Unbridled Darkness is a Demon Hunter simulator that turns your screen pitch black while in Torghast, Tower of the Damned, in Shadowlands.

Blizzard has been testing three special Torghast events on the Beta lately. In the game files, they are also referred to as holidays, meaning they will likely rotate regularly when the game is out.

These include Beasts of the Prodigum, Chorus of Dead Souls, and Unbridled Darkness. Here is a blue post that discusses all three in more detail.

With this week’s update to the Shadowlands Beta, we’re kicking off a test of some special events for Torghast, and we have them set on a daily rotation. The first Anima Hoard you discover on a run will have unique choices that help define the rest of your run.

The events include:

  • Beasts of Prodigum: Your first Maw power chest allows you to gain control of a powerful Maw beast that fights alongside you during your run. Subsequent Maw powers you receive in this run have a chance to modify the beast and grant it special abilities.
  • Chorus of Dead Souls: Your first Maw power chest allows you to assume the form of a Deadsoul Chorus, granting you special abilities. While in this form, your party members can right-click you to join your form and cast on the move. Subsequent Maw powers enhance your Deadsoul Chorus form in a variety of ways.
  • Unbridled Darkness: Your first Maw power chest can grant you a vial of darkness that you can activate. Using it turns your screen completely dark and you are unable to see your surroundings. While under this effect, you gain large combat bonuses. Subsequent Maw powers enhance your combat bonuses or modify the darkness.

Please let us know what you think of these as they come around in the Beta!

Unbridled Darkness turns your screen pitch black, and you won't see anything so long as it's active. You cannot manually enter or leave the darkness, but when active, your damage, healing, and movement speed will be increased.

The Unbridled Darkness mechanic requires coordination and is fun when you're playing with more players in the party, but it can quickly get frustrating when you're clearing the tower alone and have no clue what you're doing.

Shadowlands PvP vendors have been temporarily disabled at launch, but Blizzard confirmed they are back now!
Something wasn't quite right with PvP vendors when the new expansion launched, so Blizzard temporarily despawned them. They should be back now, though.

Your alt can ignore the Shadowlands' main narrative linear arc and level up by completing bonus objectives like world quests and killing rares.
Leveling on your first character in Shadowlands will be linear, so you must complete the new zones in a fixed order: Bastion > Maldraxxus > Ardenweald > Revendreth.
After completing the Shadowlands Intro Questline on your second character (alt), you will be able to choose from two leveling options when you arrive at Oribos. An NPC appears and freezes you in place.

Fatescribe Roh-Tahl gives you the "Threads of Fate" quest, and you can choose whether you'd like to level up your character through world quests, side quests, and bonus objectives, skipping the main narrative, or moving from one zone to another through the main narrative arc, just like you did on your first character. If you pick The Threads of Fate, your choice cannot be undone.
The Threads of Fate - Level up by doing world quests, side quests, bonus objectives, and dungeons. Main storyline quests will be skipped, and you will choose your covenant immediately. You will have access to all Shadowlands zones except the Maw. This choice is final and cannot be undone. Replay Storyline - Level up by playing through the main Shadowlands storyline, just as you did on your first character. You will move zone by zone through the narrative arc before reaching level 60 and selecting a covenant. If you change your mind, you can return to the Fatescribe at any time and choose to follow the Threads of Fate.

Choosing the Threads of Fate makes you immediately pick a Covenant, and you can also select a zone where you'd like to start your journey.

Here's an example of the quest from Bastion, and the main quest of the zone revolves around aiding the Kyrians by completing side quests, bonus objectives, world quests, and slaying rare creatures, including dungeon bosses.

The new feature is fantastic because you have more flexibility and won't be forced to complete the same story repeatedly!

The first reset is over in the US region, bringing Mythic dungeons, Torghast, and Renown.
What to Do Before Level 60?
If you are still leveling your character, make sure to check out our to-do list to figure out your goals and level your character to max level.
What to Do at Max Level Today?
If you reached level 60, you should know that Mythic+0 dungeons, Torghast, and Renown are now available in the US region. The same will apply to the EU region tomorrow.
You can clear them for Item level 184 loot and Soulbind Conduits!  You can gather up to 610 Soul Ash this week from both wings! Remember to complete the intro questline first. The list of available wings can be seen on the Maw map. Renown weekly quests are now available at your Covenant Sanctum. For the first quest, you must deposit 1 Anima into the Anima Reservoir. For the second quest, you must rescue 15 Souls from the Maw. You will also get one Renown level each time you complete a Covenant Campaign chapter. Content Not Available Yet
Mythic Season 1 starts December 8, so here's the content currently unavailable until then.

It wouldn't be a proper expansion launch without queues!
After Blizzard fixed the black login screen that came with the Shadowlands launch, many players are now reporting long queue times when trying to log into the game today.
Queue times are almost exclusive to "Full" realms. Is your server affected?

It's day 1 of the Shadowlands and launch day/night didn't go completely smoothly, but it sure did produce some quality content! Each time a major event in WoW happens the reddit community gets inspired and produce a whole lot of memes, and we dig through them all and pick the best ones/our favorites.
Starting with the best one, if you were/are having trouble with the "Character not found" error, reddit has found the perfect man to find them for you:
And another callback to the recent apartment-saving Shadowlands launch post:
Then it's back to BfA for a bit, with some classics everyone will understand:

      Source.

      Source.
      "Good riddance!"

      Source.
Then there's the eternal Maw struggle, as some are... less affected:

      Source.
"My reaction when I tried to mount up in the maw."

      Source.
And then there's the eternal Covenant choice/freedom/RPG aspects ones:
Really looking forward to Shadowlands. Here is a picture of my new warlock main :)

      Source.
The loading screen also got its own:
      "She was right!"

      Source.
And finally, a tribute to all the memes themselves!
      "The unsung heroes of launch"

      Source.
And if all that wasn't enough, you can also check out the pre-launch ones as well!
