According to Bloomberg, Activision Blizzard informed employees Tuesday morning that they will be closing their second-largest office in France.

Activision Blizzard has many offices worldwide, and the French office located in Versailles employs at least 400 people, most of which provide Customer Service for EU players.

Originally, the company planned to relocate half of its employees to London. However, due to Brexit and the ongoing health crisis, Bloomberg reports they have completely decided to scrap that idea and close the Versailles office.

It's not clear how many people will lose their jobs and how many will be allowed to relocate to different offices, but French labor laws force companies to negotiate significant compensation packages for employees caught in mass layoffs, according to Bloomberg.

Apparently, the French employees were told they would learn more information next week, and an Activision Blizzard spokesperson did not make an official statement just yet.

On one hand the French office always had a bad reputation for it's Vivendi past and a huge part of it was focused only on the French localized content.

On the other, it's somewhat of a slap in the face for European players - centralizing everything from development to customer support is not the most promising signal, especially considering that the EU community is by far the most active of all.
