Leveling Up Can Now Lead to Your Immediate Death!

Recommended Posts

The pre-patch has had many issues causing strange things to happen, and this actually isn't one of them! Heirlooms relatively recently lost their XP bonus and gained new set bonuses and one of them is... dangerous. As noticed by redditor peppita-pelila, when you level up the 5-piece set bonus will cause you to explode in a Burst of Knowledge Burst of Knowledge, which can be problematic in some areas:

Source.

In case you haven't figured it out, if you level up near a neutral NPC, usually a guard, you'll damage them with the burst AoE effect and aggro them, usually leading to your death. Hopefully this isn't considered a bug and fixed, as it adds a new level of caution, awareness of your surroundings and experience management, as you look around each corner to check if a crazy high level neutral NPC will come running at you as you scratch them with your leveling explosion.

So all you intrepid new players, returning ones, and everyone leveling alts: be careful where you ding!

And, in closing also enjoy this:

hahahhaahaha

I seriously would have preferred stat bonuses, like 10% primary and Secondary......instead of the stupid set bonuses they gave the heirlooms.

I'm surprised they didn't just turn some of the Azerite traits into the set bonus of heirlooms

Something like:

Killing an enemy that grants experience gives:

(2) Healed for x amount

(4) A small increase to movement speed for X seconds  [Vampiric Speed trait split in two]

(6) Stacking secondary stat buff [Champion of Azeroth trait]

It's not perfect but at least it's more useful than rested xp consumption speed and can't blow up in your own face

One of the more popular recent meme formats has arrived in Azeroth and comes from a very appropriately named animated show, Invincible. There are spoilers for the finale of the show ahead, so if you were thinking of watching it, maybe skip this one!
The meme itself is based around a confrontation at the end of the show, where one character explains something "obvious" to the other in a very... let's say specific way. If you're not familiar with it you should check out the Know Your Meme post about it first, but meanwhile here are some really great Wow-themed entries!
We start of with a classic, which is also still very relevant to the story today, as Arthas has a little chat with Uther:

      Source: Zestyclose-Tune-9174.
Then it's on to the other big story thread of WoW, as Velen explains things to Kil'jaeden:

      Source: shirsalino.
Then there's a very meta-one, using the original template, and since you could still enjoy the show from the above and below memes, this particular one is taken directly from it and is a major spoiler, so I'll just spoiler tag it:
And then a couple of textless ones, with the message being generally pretty clear:
But this isn't even all of it, as the meme (or the show in general) even produced a "cursed" transmog (and you can check out the pieces over in the r/transmogrification thread)!

      Source: TheLoneWolf1407.
And finally, here's a general rundown of the many, many places the meme has been used (also spoilered since it has an actual clip of the scene from the finale of the show):

South Park's iconic "Sword of a Thousand Truths" is getting an HD model in Chains of Domination!
The Hungering Cold's appearance was used in South Park's iconic "Make Love Not Warcraft" episode, where Randy handed it to his son Stan  to kill that which has no life.

Image credit goes to Wowpedia / Comedy Central.
In Patch 9.1, Blizzard added a new cosmetic sword called The Devouring Cold that is basically an HD version of The Hungering Cold, and here is how it looks in-game.

Some very sad news today, as one of the oldest top raiding guilds will be effectively leaving the Race to World First come 9.1!
Russian No.1 raid team Exorsus has announced that they will be drastically reducing their raiding time in Sanctum of Domination and beyond, going down to 2 raid days and evenings only. This comes after a long and storied history which includes two endboss World Firsts, with Legion's Xavius and Gul'dan, as well as two World second and four World 3rd race finishes starting way back in Mists of Pandaria, with their actual hardcore raiding stretching back even further to Ulduar. They most recently finished in a still very impressive 8th spot in Castle Nathria, but it seems WoW isn't quite offering much to them these days aside from the race itself, so a change was made. Here's their biggest accomplishment in terms of boss kills, the World 1st Gul'dan:
The guild's GM Alveona explained it all in detail in this TwitLonger:
You can also check out a more detailed overview of the guild's history over on Raider.IO, but here are some of their more prominent raid triumphs:
World First: Xavius (Emerald Nightmare), Gul'dan (Nighthold)
World 2nd:  Kil'jaeden (Tomb of Sargeras), Argus (Antorus, the Burning Throne)
World 3rd: Lei Shen and Ra-den (Throne of Thunder), Garrosh Hellscream (Siege of Orgrimmar), Archimonde (Hellfire Citadel), G'huun (Uldir)
Top 10 in 8 more raids, including Castle Nathria.

Hopefully this isn't the last we see of Exorsus in the RWF, as there have been guilds that returned after a move like this (most notably Paragon), and we might still see them in the top 20/50 even with their reduced raid times. But even if we don't see them at the top again it's been a great journey for the No.1 Russian guild, who have provided us with many awesome videos and boss kills!

Control of Lava has been redesigned and we've datamined two new Shaman Legendary Powers in Patch 9.1 Build 38627.
      Shaman
      PvP Talents
Control of Lava has been redesigned - Flame Shock damage increased by 30%. Your Flame Shock damage over time has a 10% chance to reset the remaining cooldown on Lava Burst, and increase its damage by 15%, stacking up to 3 times. Flame Shock's damage occurs 15% more often. If Flame Shock is dispelled, a volcanic eruption wells up beneath the dispeller, exploding for [ 300% of Spell Power ] Fire damage and knocking them into the air. Seasoned Winds - Interrupting a spell with Wind Shear decreases your damage taken from that spell school by 20% 15% for 12 sec. Legendary Powers
Elemental Conduit - Each friendly target healed by Chain Harvest automatically has Riptide applied to them. Each enemy target damaged by Chain Harvest automatically has Flame Shock applied to them. Seeds of Rampant Growth - Each pulse of Fae Transfusion's damage effect reduces the cooldown of Feral Spirit by 7.0 sec.
