When Will We Hear More About Patch 9.1?

Recommended Posts

Shadowlands launched 47 days ago, and the attention turns to the first content patch of the expansion that comes with flying! When will Patch 9.1 hit test servers?

Blizzard is probably saving the Patch 9.1 announcement for BlizzConline on February 19-20, which is still more than a month away. If that's the case, 9.1 will be released rather late.

Battle for Azeroth went live on August 14, 2018. Tides of Vengeance, the first content patch (8.1) of the expansion, hit Public Test Servers on September 21, 2018, which is just 38 days after the expansion was released.

We do not currently know much about the patch. The only thing we know right now is that Blizzard intends to add flying in the first major content patch of the expansion, instead of .2 patches, as they did before.

What do you think we'll see in Patch 9.1? Do you think it will be unveiled at BlizzConline?

i hope they will wait with releasing 9.1. it feels like every day a new bug appears in shadowlands or old content which doesnt scale properly or has other problems caused by the squish. they should take their time and fix those things before thinking of releasing 9.1. and then they should take their time to test 9.1

for what it is worth, I agree 110% with ya.  Of course, my agreement with you and $50 will get you a cup of coffee, pretty much any place in the world.  I don't even have SL, but the amount of old world that I am seeing that has become buggy is horrible.  And things have changed, but no notice of the quests changing has been posted.

One item I would like to see address is remove some of the spell buttons!  I have more spell buttons for a BM hunter than I have places on my action bars.

Shoot, the last 2 wings of LFR aren't even open yet! Too early to start talking about expansions. Let the casuals catch up with the game first.

Likely they are holding any info for their event in February. Anyway they still have a lot of bugs to fix, so hopefully any new content will not be rushed.

What ARE the requirements for flying(if any)?

At least with flying tied to pathfinder achievements I had a goal to work towards.

No idea on the exact requirement but it will be tied to your Renown not reputation as in other expansions.

My guess would be mid to end of march 2021 at best. With BlizzConline and the final LFR Chapter being somewhere in feburary I cannot see them releasing new content that early. A lot of people are still working on AOTC and Cutting Edge as well.

LFR isn't completly released yet and there still alot of guilds for the hall of fame which has to be full in order to open mythic for crossrealm raiding

so i guess it'll take awhile and if we take into account that there are still bugs especially with torghast i think its a good thing if they slow down the pace and take their time to get things right

so far SL is alot better state then BFA was and i don't want them to rush things tbh.
i share the guess that they will announce the patch and what's to come in feb at the online blizzcon and so far its not that there is nothing to do for ppl at least atm.

It's about the PTR and announcement of what to come, not the actual content. Once it gets announced it'll take a couple of months before the content is actually released. Mid to end March would be waaaaaaay too late for the announcement, they definitely didn't wait that long with the last expansions.

I feel that a culture ( or Cultures as the case may be) would have eliminated the labyrinthian layouts of their zones ages ago. Blizz goes deliberately out of their way to make us relive Theseus with every expansion. They say they want up to explore. Fine. I love to explore. I disagree with having to run around 5 mountains to get onto the other side of the first one. This is not exploration, that is cultural infrastructural stagnation. If you want to decrease reliance on flight, allow us to chart our own flight points so we don't have to go through 2-5 unnecessary flight points to again, get to the other side of the mountain.

And for those who are certainly eager to start flaming about flight ruining the game. You play your way, I play mine. I like flight. I am tired of zones being obstructionist for it's own sake rather then just allowing flight.  That was the ONLY good thing about Cataclysm. Those who disagree, I welcome you to walk wherever you want.

Dude, relax or you will give yourself a stroke.... I agree pretty much with what you are saying except, what do you mean by "cultural infrastructural"?  Garden Gnomes would like to know!  😁

They just added a bunch of abilities back for every class in this expansion after having trimmed back the spell book for the past two expansions. Do a search on "the unpruning".

We've all seen the giant Hallowfall crystal and just how great it looks, but as it turns out, the light emanating from it actually changes in a sort of strange day/night cycle, and we get a really awesome transition into Void light animation!
First off we can see a snippet of the change in Blizzard's official short preview of the zone:
And then there's this extended look at the switch, showcasing just how impressive the animations are, by PreachGaming's Chunkeyninja:
And here's a slightly better look at the Void to Light transition, courtesy of Kexman:
The exact timing on the cycle isn't 100% clear, but MrGM noted how it works on the Alpha right now, with a 3 hour cycle, as the Void part remains active for 30 minutes:

Hopefully we'll also get some lore to go with the transition, as the light into void thing is pretty thematically interesting, as well as being really visually impressive.
