The Most Popular Tanks and Healers for Mythic+ in Shadowlands Season 1 Week 7

Recommended Posts

55947-the-most-popular-tanks-and-healers

It's time to look at the most popular tanks and healers for Mythic+ in the seventh week of Season 1.

We also looked at the most popular DPS for Mythic+ and Spec Tier Lists recently.

Data Reliability

The data used in this article comes from benched.me. Reddit user OtherwiseUniversity7 plotted all keys available from the Blizzard API (excluding the CN region) on a single ridge plot to make this happen.

This Week's Affixes

We've seen multiple successful Mythic+23 clears this week. You can find more details here.

Total Runs Recorded

Here we have the total runs recorded for each tank and healer specialization after 7 weeks of Mythic Season 1. Based on the data, we filter out the most popular tanks and healers in Mythic+.

Most Popular Tanks for Mythic+

Vengeance Demon Hunters have surpassed 2 million runs in Season 1, and they are the most popular tanks for Mythic+, followed by Protection Paladins and Brewmaster Monks. The least popular tank specialization is Protection Warrior.

  • 1st: Vengeance Demon Hunter - 2,226,655 runs
  • 2nd: Protection Paladin - 1,952,672 runs
  • 3rd: Brewmaster Monk - 946,656 runs
  • 4th: Blood Death Knight - 882,034 runs
  • 5th: Guardian Druid - 848,362 runs
  • 6th: Protection Warrior: 528,703 runs

Detailed Look at Spec Performance

Here is a visual representation of the share of tanking specializations at each keystone level. The meta starts kicking in at Mythic+16, where most specializations begin losing their share of representation to the meta-classes.

Share of Tank Specializations in Weekly Top 500 Runs

To observe meta shifts throughout the season, we sample the top 500 runs for each dungeon (a total of 6K keys) for each week. We then count the number of times each specialization appears in the weekly top 500 sample.

Most Popular Healers for Mythic+

Restoration Druids gained +244K runs this week and remain the most popular healing spec for Mythic+. In 2nd place, we've got Restoration Shamans with +286K runs compared to last week. Third are Holy Paladins. The least popular healers are Mistweaver Monks.

  • 1st: Restoration Druid - 2,170,770 runs
  • 2nd: Restoration Shaman - 1,971,637 runs
  • 3rd: Holy Paladin - 1,127,340 runs
  • 4th: Discipline Priest - 891,207 runs
  • 5th: Holy Priest - 708,944 runs
  • 6th: Mistweaver Monk - 509,956 runs

Detailed Look at Spec Performance

Here's a visual representation of the share of healer specializations at each keystone level.

Share of Healer Specializations in Weekly Top 500 Runs

The meta is really stable within a single patch, and spec representation within the top 500 barely changes. The data has a zig-zag trend. Spec numbers, especially the top specs, go up and down each week due to the Tyrannical/Fortified split.

On Tyrannical weeks, top pushers bench their meta-class mains and play non-meta alts, or don't play at all. As a result, the share of meta specializations in the top 500 drops on Tyrannical weeks. Similarly, the share of meta specializations rises to its max during push weeks.

It's really cool to see that despite a lot of “spitting comments on” Holy Priests, a lot of players just don't pay attention and play what they like.

I think it's the most important thing in a game, play what you like ! What's good one day can become awful later (RIP war protection) so just enjoy the game and play a spec you really enjoy.

And sadly a lot of people forgot that it's just a game...

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has confirmed that the Dracthyr race will have more class options in The War Within. However, this feature may not be ready in time for the expansion's launch.
This update was highlighted in a tweet by MrGM, who shared insights from a London content creator interview about the Dracthyr.
The plan is to introduce the ability for Dracthyr to play as other classes in War Within. Emphasis on playing in Visage form. Required animations for other classes are actively being worked on. The implementation is unlikely to happen at launch, but targeted for early in the expansion cycle. Placeholder for tweet 1780748422066188399
