The Most Popular Tanks and Healers for Mythic+ in Shadowlands Season 1 Week 9

Recommended Posts

55947-the-most-popular-tanks-and-healers

We're looking at the most popular tanks and healers for Mythic+ in the ninth week of Season 1!

We also looked at the most popular DPS for Mythic+, but we skipped tank/healer popularity last week, so this comparison will highlight the differences between Weeks 7 and 9.

Data Reliability

The data used in this article comes from benched.me. Reddit user OtherwiseUniversity7 plotted all keys available from the Blizzard API (excluding the CN region) on a single ridge plot. The data on the site is updated every hour.

This Week's Affixes

Total Runs Recorded

Here we have the total runs recorded for each tank and healer specialization after 9 weeks of Mythic Season 1. Based on the data, we filter out the most popular tanks and healers in Mythic+.

Most Popular Tanks for Mythic+

Vengeance Demon Hunters remain the most popular tank specialization in Shadowlands Season 1, thanks to their mobility. Protection Paladins and Brewmaster Monks follow them. Guardian Druids are up by 1 rank, and the spec swapped ranks with Blood Death Knights, who were previously on Rank 4. Protection Warriors remain the least popular tanks for Mythic+.

  • 1st: Vengeance Demon Hunter - 2,877,598 runs
  • 2nd: Protection Paladin - 2,372,534 runs
  • 3rd: Brewmaster Monk - 1,150,264 runs
  • 4th: Guardian Druid - 1,058,569 runs
  • 5th: Blood Death Knight - 1,042,972 runs
  • 6th: Protection Warrior - 633,431 runs

Detailed Look at Spec Performance

Here is a visual representation of the share of tanking specializations at each keystone level. The meta starts kicking in at Mythic+16, where most specializations begin losing their share of representation to the meta-classes.

Share of Tank Specializations in Weekly Top 500 Runs

To observe meta shifts throughout the season, we sample the top 500 runs for each dungeon (a total of 6K keys) for each week. We then count the number of times each specialization appears in the weekly top 500 sample.

Most Popular Healers for Mythic+

In the healer department, Restoration Druids continue to dominate and are still the most favorite pick. Restoration Shamans occupy Rank 2, and Holy Paladins are third. The least popular healing spec is Mistweaver Monk.

  • 1st: Restoration Druid - 2,604,484 runs
  • 2nd: Restoration Shaman - 2,505,752 runs
  • 3rd: Holy Paladin - 1,438,676 runs
  • 4th: Discipline Priest - 1,099,526 runs
  • 5th: Holy Priest - 871,263 runs
  • 6th: Mistweaver Monk - 610,582 runs

Share of Healer Specializations in Weekly Top 500 Runs

The meta is really stable within a single patch, and spec representation within the top 500 barely changes. The data has a zig-zag trend. Spec numbers, especially the top specs, go up and down each week due to the Tyrannical/Fortified split.

On Tyrannical weeks, top pushers bench their meta-class mains and play non-meta alts, or don't play at all. As a result, the share of meta specializations in the top 500 drops on Tyrannical weeks. Similarly, the share of meta specializations rises to its max during push weeks.

Is really sad and dishearthening to see BDK going down every week, Along with Guardian and ProtWar, they need some improvement, some love from Blizzard. Im a long time BDK, and not going to change my main, but is getting hard try to push everyweek or waiting for the less punishing affixes. Now is time to see some care for BDK.

We've all seen the giant Hallowfall crystal and just how great it looks, but as it turns out, the light emanating from it actually changes in a sort of strange day/night cycle, and we get a really awesome transition into Void light animation!
First off we can see a snippet of the change in Blizzard's official short preview of the zone:
And then there's this extended look at the switch, showcasing just how impressive the animations are, by PreachGaming's Chunkeyninja:
And here's a slightly better look at the Void to Light transition, courtesy of Kexman:
The exact timing on the cycle isn't 100% clear, but MrGM noted how it works on the Alpha right now, with a 3 hour cycle, as the Void part remains active for 30 minutes:

Hopefully we'll also get some lore to go with the transition, as the light into void thing is pretty thematically interesting, as well as being really visually impressive.

It's game over until next week for 9 players who've earned every available achievement that grants points! Congrats!
The ongoing Northrend Cup has introduced new achievements for players to complete, and as we all know, some players are incredibly dedicated when it comes to racking up achievement points.
The latest one is osatox, who proudly shared a screenshot showcasing 100% completion of all point-granting achievements!
Placeholder for tweet 1785906134521671737 According to Data of Azeroth, there are currently 9 players leading the pack, having 'beaten the game' so far by mastering every available achievement that gives points.

As you're likely aware, "beating WoW" is often short-lived. The next achievement points await with the arrival of Patch 10.2.7 next week! Keep an eye out for further updates!
