Wrathion Using Sanctum of Domination Boss Ability

Recommended Posts

They're back! The future-ability stealing shenanigans have returned after the Shadowlands pre-patch, where a Plaguefall boss was nuking players in Ny'alotha with an ability, and now we have the Sanctum mortaring in some ice into the old raid as well!

This time it's Wrathion who received a power upgrade, straight from Kel'thuzad himself, the penultimate boss of the Sanctum of Domination! It's also a pretty ironic ability mixup, as the black dragon goes into his little speech about seeing everything burn... and then plops down a whole lot of ice!

Icemagicianhd and a friend were clearing Ny'alotha Normal when irony went into overdrive and Torghast/the Sanctum/Kel'thuzad decided to mess with N'Zoths playground and help Wrathion out. This is a pretty funny dev mess, as either the Wrathion encounter was used for some internal testing on the PTR or the spells somehow got mixed up (especially if Wrathion's ID is similar to Kel'thuzad's or something like that).

It's probably not a coincidence that the ice patches came in where the giant fire patches Wrathion normally puts there, so our bet is on some internal testing of the spread or something similar. Whatever it is, it's pretty fun and didn't affect anyone negatively, so win-win, as icemagicianhd and friend now have a really cool story to tell!

How does this even happen when the two bosses are completely separate objects in a programmatic sense?  If they are hardcoding spell Ids then that's jacked up.  Everything should be database driven and stored there that way they can be pulled dynamically so fat fingering does not occur.

Dragonflight does not include Threads of Fate, but we've got some details on how alt leveling works in the new expansion.
      Leveling Your Main Character
Leveling up the first character is linear, and you must complete the zones in the following order:
The Waking Shores > Ohn'ahran Plains > The Azure Span > Thaldraszus.
      Leveling Your Alts
When you complete the Dragonflight campaign on your main character, you can pick any of the four Dragon Isles zones for leveling and you will have World Quests and Side Quests unlocked on your alts.
Thanks to MrGM for the screenshots.
