Ret - Question about trinkets and CD's

24 posts in this topic

Hi

I have a question that I didn't really find anywher else.

I recently got the heroic version of galakras's trinket. FINALLY. Was still going with a flex trinket when I had around 570 ilvl sad.png And I got thok's trinket on the first kill. That was all in the same week I had new trinkets so I'm very happy about that lol.

I've made weakauras for tracking when the trinkets proc and the internal cooldown.

So my question is now, with the amazing reduced CD on GoAK and AW. Should I try to time them with the trinket procs? Because GoAK is now 2 min CD and AW is 1.32 minutes. The trinket procs are 55 and 115 seconds. Comparing to GoAK and AW that is 120 and 92 seconds. All these times are very close (55x2=110). So should I go with aligning them or just spam the hell out of them when they are on CD and I can use them ofcourse.

I can't find answers because every guide I come across are for "new" retripaladins with not that high of an iLvl.

Then some other small question while I'm at it. The divine storm proc. Do you guys use it instantly? If not have you planned it somewhere in your rotation? And for the rotation, what skill does more dmg actually? Judgement or Exorcism? I have near 66% mastery. And lastly: why 40% haste cap and not more? I've read that somewhere including the answer but I forgot sad.png

If you need any more info or something just ask.

Thx in advance!

Btw, if anyone has decent weakauras for trinkets.. because mine tend to bug out sad.png

Holding GoAK for your 115sec trinket probably isn't a bad idea (since it should be procced already), but I wouldn't hold AW, because it's unreliable for trinkets to line up with it.

1.32 minutes is 79.2 seconds. You're looking for 1:32 min/sec, or 1.51 minutes, which equals 92 seconds.

Besides, 4/4 upgraded Heroic reduces AW to 87.64 sec CD.

The DS proc is very important to use before your next spender, so you don't refresh the buff. It'll also hit harder than any other ability, so I'd use it first in 99% of scenarios. Remember that it's damage bonus ALSO translates to a higher Hand hit afterwards!

As for Judge vs Exo:

Judge: 623 + 60% of AP

Exo: 7342 + 67.7% of AP

Exo easily wins, as Mastery: Hand of Light doesn't affect them!

What are you looking for in a WeakAura? I can make a couple that look just right, if you'd like.

Thx for the extensive answer! Really appreciate it!

As for the WA, I currently have an icon dat depicts the buff a trinket gives with the text Ready! on it. If the trinket procs then another WA with the same icon but with a CD text and animation on it pops over the Ready! one. And if the proc is done, a new WA over the others will show with a gray icon and a CD text with animation to know what the internal CD is left. And if that's done, the Ready! one comes back on top.

It works, but sometimes the Ready! one will not show or something. That's what my idea was of tracking the procs, but If you have something better.. :p

My WAs are just bars that countdown when it's an active buff, and count up with the icd. I also have ones for GoAK (along with an icon for GoAK stacks), T16_4pc proc,  AW, and a few others that are for pvp

Lol Auriel, that's what I eventually want. But I just can't make myself to make them sad.png

Then why didn't you say that?  I'm a master craftsman. >=D

If you do this, I'll actually use it as my new trinket proc alert.

I'm more of an audio person. Go ahead and add a cat purr'ing while you're at it.. yeah.. that would be great.

Hybrys I tried the icons out and they work really well thank you! I'm gonna try out the bars tonight also thank you for them.

Auriel that looks like a really good WA :o trying it out tonight as well.

I just got an idea, wouldn't it be cool if you could display the cooldown of AW and GoAK along with the ICD of evil eye and galakras's trinket on a single bar? Then you would see when they are aligning or close to aligning and stuff.

Thx for the rest you guys!

Might just be best to have individual WA's sitting on top of each other in transparency?

Our Ret does that, where as I prefer to have a grid system for my cooldowns, along with a larger area icon for my specific procs.

(Mind you, Ele doesn't care at all about trinket procs, so I don't track them.)

Your entire UI and WA's sound like you're at Duncan's Toy Chest.

That's a Home Alone 2 reference fyi.

      New to Weakauras ?
You can download it here :

Copy - paste the code of which you can find down below  (Import string) On the wago.io webpage links you can find a copy string button on the right, colored red.
Like this :  When ingame type /wa to open the control panel of weakaura. Select "import" Paste the string from the wago webpage into this. A screen will pop-up and select the import button on it. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________

      About Us
Skunkworks is a guild for players who can not or do not want to commit to the time-intensive raid schedules of traditional "hardcore" guilds.
However, we still maintain a high caliber player environment and make an efficient use of our raiding time.
We raid Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 - 11:00 PST, just 8 hours a week and never more.

We are very protective of our guild environment and selective in recruitment. We are looking for solid players mechanically as well as intellectually.
We all get paid to deal with idiots, why should we pay to spend our leisure time with them as well?

Skunkworks has been around for multiple expansions and has historically always been at the top of the 2-night raiding guild scene.

      Hi
I have one few questions concerning fury rotation:
      1. Should I use bloodbath only with Battle Cry?
      2. Should I use Rampage immediately after it is available or should I always wait for Frothing Berserker?
      3. During Enrage time, should I spam raging blow or prioritize bloodthirst then raging blow?
      4. Is CoF ilvl860 better then nightmare egg ilvl940?
      Best regards
      Susza

As a retribution Pally should I equip the Insignia of the Grand Army instead of either Soul of the Highlord or Chain of Thrayn.  Could not find in the icy-veins guide about this ring.
      Thanks

      Hi everyone,
I, like many others, are trying to maximize DPS for their respective classes, mine in particular being ret paladin.
In general, it seems like there are several sources of information for dps for each class.
Icy Veins Mr Robot Raidbots (Simulation Craft) Warcraft Logs Each with its own set of criteria as to what determines high dps. And I find inconsistency when bouncing between the different sources. I want to understand what am I missing when it comes to each. I will lay out what I currently understand, and would like some feedback as to what I may not be considering in each as well as some advice as to what other options I could be exploring (resources) to further the insight into whats applicable for my current state.
      Icy Veins
For Icy Veins, in particular, the stat weights, are mostly vaguely determined. From the ret guide:

If I am reading this right, its Mastery >= Haste > Ver >= Crit = Str
      Mr Robot
I use the addOn and I subscribe for the Best In Bags function. When I plug in my information in, the site recommends that I go with my 2pce t20 and balance around my legendaries with a focus on haste pieces (haste gems are emphasized).
      https://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/simulator/report/a42136294c7f40b2b7ee78023306d786
Stat weights as listed in MrRobot:
      MrRobot Stat Weights
From what I am seeing, Crit is most emphasized, and the one crit gem + ring crit enchants were originally recommended by MrRobot here. Also another notable thing here is haste being way behind crit's potential.
      RaidBots (Simc)
For RaidBots, I use the addOn, and play around with various items I hoard, and use the stat weights functions. Generally the feedback I get here are to stick with the current gem setup and with regards to stat weights, emphasize at my current setup with crit. It also says I should drop some of my high ilvl pieces (935 head, and 960 chest) for 4pce (915 head, lfr 890 chest)

I mostly use Warcraft Logs to check what the top dps players (ret pallys) are hitting and what setups are they running. I don't want to specifically link player armories in here, but upon some investigation, you'll find most are just stacking haste

I understand stat weights are relative, however it seems like everyone has different priorities, one says mastery, another vers, another crit, another haste?
      Help me understand.
      Thanks,
