Endwalker is here, which means we can finally explore the new dungeons this expansion has to offer! In this post, we'll be taking a quick look at the first dungeon adventurers will encounter in Endwalker - the Tower of Zot!

The Tower of Zot

ffxiv_03122021_144002_407.png

Vrtra, great wyrm of the first brood and the hidden satrap of Radz-at-Han, has bid the Scions cross to Narunnair and mount a foray into the tiny island's unnatural spire - a Telophoroi structure known by the locals as the Tower of Zot.

Your companions join you on the journey, protective talismans in hand, prepared to face whatever unnamed horrors await you within. Come what may, you cannot allow Nidhana and her kin to perish in the grip of dark magicks and darker designs...

Location

The Tower of Zot is a level 81 dungeon located in Thavnair, a colorful zone established across the Jade Sea in Ilsabard. Upon visiting this area for the first time, I was surprised to see such a structure looming in the background!

As seen in the map below, the Tower of Zot can be found in the upper-left corner of Thavnair.

Environment

One of my favorite parts about going through a new dungeon is experiencing its environment for the first time! The below screenshots provide a look inside the Tower of Zot, which is very atmospherically eerie on the inside.

Boss Encounters

As teased in the media tour, the Tower of Zot features the iconic Magus Sisters as its three boss encounters!

sisters.png

A trinity of gods long revered by the people of Thavnair. Cinduruva, the eldest, is said to be bearer of wisdom, Sanduruva that of prosperity, and Minduruva, the youngest, ingenuity.

Comprised of Cindy, Sandy, and Mindy, this trio first appeared in Final Fantasy IV as villains in the Tower of Zot. The sisters are known for their infamous Delta Attack, in which Sandy casts Reflect on Cindy before Mindy uses an elemental ability on Cindy to damage the main party.

The trio appears in Eorzea as Lunar primals that the Warrior of Light must defeat throughout the Tower of Zot encounter. Please note that the sisters' names have been slightly altered to fit their Thavnairian roots. In FFXIV, the trio is referred to as Cinduruva, Sanduruva, and Minduruva.

Players will first encounter Minduruva, the youngest sister who harnesses various elemental spells and poison in battle. Players should expect to stay on their feet throughout this fight, as there are continuous AoEs to avoid once Minduruva starts transmuting her elemental abilities!

Next, the Warrior of Light must defeat Sanduruva, who utilizes Berserk, Stop, and Confuse against foes in battle!

Upon reaching the end of the dungeon, players will meet Cinduruva, who will be joined by her younger sisters for the final battle.

While battling the Magus Sisters, players must dodge Delta Attack, which presents a more intense version of the elemental spells Minduruva used earlier in the dungeon. By avoiding mechanics used in the dungeon's previous boss encounters and focusing on defeating Cinduruva first, players can easily defeat the trio!

Final Thoughts

For the first dungeon encounter of the expansion, the Tower of Zot was pretty great. I specifically loved the Minduruva encounter, as the transmute mechanic was unique and enjoyable to figure out!

Personally, I adore seeing characters from previous Final Fantasy installments in FFXIV. I first met the Magus Sisters in FFX, where they appear as a special endgame summon, so it was neat being able to face them again in this encounter.

If the Tower of Zot is any indicator of what the remaining Endwalker dungeons will be like, I believe I'll be satisfied throughout the rest of my leveling experience in 6.0!

What did you think of the Tower of Zot?

With the return of the Yo-Kai event, it is once again time to catch them all and get your hands on original weapons, mounts, and minions, as well as a brand new framer’s kit!
The beloved Yo-Kai Watch Event is coming back to Eorzea from April 24, 2024, at 8:00 AM GMT (6:00 PM AEST) until the release of Patch 7.0.
This event will be identical to the previous ones, but with one additional reward: a framer's kit. The quest cannot be taken again if you have already completed it, but you can still earn Yo-Kai medals while equipped with the Yo-Kai Watch! And if you have lost your watch, it can be repurchased from the recompense officers in major cities.
For this event, start by picking up the quest from the NPC "Poor-heeled Youth" in Ul'dah!

Once the quest is completed, you will receive your first Yo-Kai watch. With this watch, you will be able to earn Yo-Kai medals from various content:
Fates in La Noscea, The Black Shroud and Thanalan Fates in All regions of Heavensward Fates in All regions of Stormblood You will need to complete the FATES with either a silver or gold rating to receive medals at the end, and we suggest you team up with other players to make farming more enjoyable.
Once you have collected enough medals, you can then exchange them for Yo-Kai minions at the Gold Saucer's wandering executive.

There are a total of 17 different minions to collect, all of which are listed on this page: Yo-kai Watch: Gather One, Gather All!
After exchanging 13 minions, you will receive the Whisper-go mount!

Once you befriend all 17 minions, you can speak with Nohi at the Gold Saucer (X:5.2 Y:6.9) and purchase a brand new Yo-Kai watch framer's kit with MGP.
Additionally, once all minions have been collected, you will be able to gather legendary Yo-Kai medals. These medals allow you to acquire different weapons; one weapon corresponds to each minion. Participating and completing the same Fates with the corresponding minion summoned will reward special Yo-Kai medals, which you can then exchange for the desired weapon.

For example, if you want the Paw of the Crimson Cat weapon, you will need to complete Fates while equipped with Jibanyan. Occasionally, the Fate will reward you with legendary Jibanyan medals, which can then be exchanged for the weapon at the Gold Saucer's wandering executive. There are a total of 17 weapons to collect, one for each minion.
After collecting 13 weapons, you will receive the Whisper-a-go-go mount, and after obtaining all 17 weapons, you will receive the Jibanyan Couch mount!

As collecting medals can be quite challenging, Kaiyoko on Twitter/X has shared a personal guide that can help you identify which Fates to complete to get all the weapons you need:

With the Benchmark now available, players have been busy testing their PCs, and some have already discovered an interesting new detail within the Benchmark!
Many players have gone over the Dawntrail Benchmark cutscenes, particularly the gear and weapons that can be equipped on the character featured in the cutscene.
In doing so, some have noticed that certain Viper weapons bear a resemblance to older weapons. For instance, as mentioned by Eksu Plosion on Twitter/X, different weapons for the Dreadwyrm and Omega sets can be seen in the Benchmark.
The pressing question is: does this mean we will be able to obtain weapons from old ultimate fights or other older raids for the new Jobs?

Yoshi-P did mention a desire to re-evaluate the rewards from various content, suggesting this could be a possibility. It would be a welcome addition to acquire new job weapons, even if it is just for the purpose of using them as weapon glams, as some of them look really nice.
It is of course possible that these are merely new leveling weapons, but for now, the question remains unanswered! As the community speculates, only time will reveal the true nature of these newly found details.
