FFXIV Jumping Puzzles and Where to Find Them

Recommended Posts

This post is for those who need to make it to the top. Literally.

If you’re anything like me, sometimes sitting and waiting in a queue for a dungeon or trial can get dull. Maybe you’ve already checked the market board via your retainer, you’ve adjusted your glamour yet again, and you’ve finally made your 983rd lap around the markets in Limsa Lominsa. Perhaps you’re a completionist, trying to fill out every menu and checklist in the game.

For those looking for something a little more engaging during the downtime, or those looking to complete their Sightseeing Log, there are actually a number of jumping puzzles hidden throughout the game! Here’s a list of them below and pictures of where to find their starting points. Coordinates included!

SHIOKAZE HOSTELRY (KUGANE - 10.3, 10.5)
2022-01-23-13-44-11-677-Witch-s-Moon-For

The easiest jumping puzzle to find - and arguably the longest and most difficult in the game - the tower of the Shiokaze Hostelry lets you ascend to the highest point in the Stormblood city and take all kinds of fun screenshots. Simply go up the stairs to the second level of the Shiokaze Hostelry, walk out onto the red bridge, and look for the wooden peg pictured above. The first of many. Make it to the top, and you’ll certainly have earned bragging rights.

BOKAIRO INN (KUGANE - 9.8, 7.9)2022-01-23-12-50-59-487-Johto-s-Studio4.

Another platforming path in Kugane, this one is considerably shorter and easier than the first. Perhaps the most fun thing about this jumping puzzle is how many ways there are to solve it! Run across rooftops, sprint over hanging ropes, you’ll definitely feel like a Ninja climbing this one.

The easiest way I’ve found to start this one is to travel to the Bokairo Inn in Kugane. Before entering the building, hop on the stone fence to the right and the rooftop behind it, pictured above. Make it to the top of this jumping puzzle to find some hidden hot springs!

BEACH LIGHTHOUSE (SHIROGANE - 6.1, 12.4)
2022-01-23-12-55-45-531-Johto-s-Studio4.

Yet another Far Eastern peak to conquer, the lighthouse in the player-housing district of Shirogane is just begging to be climbed. Shirogane is full of fun nooks and crannies to explore, but this one by far takes the cake.

When you enter the housing district from Kugane, simply look to the left to see the Lighthouse in the distance. Swim around to the far end of the stone island it’s on, and you’ll see a tiny little ramp you can run up until you find more wooden pegs to leap across.

CHAKRA FALLS (RHALGR'S REACH - 10.2, 9.3)
2022-01-23-13-05-39-983-Witch-s-Moon-For

Stormblood got a lot of love when it came to platforming! This puzzle is pretty tiny compared to the others but is no less challenging or rewarding.

Simply run to the back-end of the lake in Rhalgr’s Reach for the archways and pillars reaching into the water. On the back of the pillar on land, you’ll see several small stone platforms for you to ascend. Make it to the end of the archways, and wave hello to Rhalgr himself!

OUTER TOWERS (THE FIRMAMENT - 16.4, 8.6)
2022-01-23-13-02-25-702-Witch-s-Moon-For

When the development team added The Firmament in Shadowbringers, they added an immense amount of content tuned specifically for crafters and gatherers alike, giving players the opportunity to make progress toward the Ishgard housing zone. Even an expansion later, folks are still laboring away at their chosen jobs for scrip rewards or a bit of extra gil.

But as the Firmament progressed, that’s not all they added.

On the eastern edge of the Firmament, you’ll find three towers. Each tower’s jumping puzzle is identical, so conquer one and you’ve conquered them all. Simply run to the edge, hop up on the bricks at the base, and you’ll find - you guessed it - more wooden pegs.

PAKSA'S PATH (RADZ-AT-HAN - 9.3, 14.1)
2022-01-23-13-08-11-407-Witch-s-Moon-For

The development team couldn’t leave out the most colorful city in Endwalker from the list of locations to jump around in. Jumping puzzles can give a thrilling sense of the player being somewhere you’re not supposed to be, and that feels the case in Radz-at-Han!

At the city’s entrance is a fountain. Behind that fountain is a set of stairs. Go up the stairs and keep to the left as you run straight, and eventually you’ll come upon a stack of crates and some bright pink platforms that will lead you upward! Make it to the top, and you’ll be above Ruveydah Fibers in some pretty neat gardens!

For those of you itching for more, Square Enix occasionally adds a pretty substantial jumping puzzle for their summer Moonfire Festival event. It isn’t an annual thing, but it’s something to look out for.

Just as well, the Gold Saucer hosts a “Leap of Faith” event multiple times a day that offers two different locales to leap about in; and the puzzle is different each time!

How many of these puzzles have you conquered? Are there any you didn’t even know were in the game? Are there any you’ve found that I missed? If so, be sure to share them!

Good luck, and happy hopping!

Yoshi-P revealed plans at Gamescom 2024 for more challenging content in FFXIV, including a new raid in the upcoming Dawntrail patch and hints of a 24-Man Savage Raid.
During Gamescom 2024, PCGames.com interviewed Naoki Yoshida, who revealed that he plans to make combat more difficult. Dawntrail has already experienced big improvements in that regard, with more distinct mechanics and designs, and Yoshi-P hopes to keep that momentum going in the future.
The upcoming patch of FFXIV will include the Dawntrail Alliance Raid, and Yoshi-P has also mentioned a 24-player Savage Raid! His plan is to continuously create more diverse dungeons and raids, to always challenge players with new mechanics, and to force us to develop new fighting strategies.
The upcoming alliance raid will have standard difficulty, but Yoshi-P is convinced that groups will wipe at least three times on their first run! The idea was not to make it harder, but rather to give a more engaging experience for raiders.
Not much was mentioned about the savage version, although he did suggest that the boss will be completely different. So, potentially entirely separate content? It is also possible that the savage alliance raid will be linked to a new instance similar to Bozja, which would explain the boss being different from the actual normal alliance raid.
Further details about this will be delivered soon, as both the normal Alliance raid and the savage one will release with 7.1! This patch will also welcome the new Ultimate Raid!
