Sepulcher of the First Ones Mythic RWF Summary, Day 4: Halondrus Day

Recommended Posts

We're back with another summary of the Sepulcher race, having skipped a few days due illness-related issues (I didn't die so that's a plus), but I'm back and ready to summarize! Today was a pretty big day, with a brand new World First, and the first truly difficult boss of the raid. The new Painsmith has arrived and is called Halondrus, and after over a full day of attempts, over 150, he is currently at 41%.

A quick summary of the previous days, all top guilds took it real slow entering the Mythic raid and gathered up all the tier they could muster, each taking about a day and a half to start progressing seriously. As these things usually go, the US guild takes the lead and then the EU catches up, and that's exactly what we had in the Sepulcher as well. Liquid are still the only ones with World Firsts aside from the very first boss and that legendary Early Shift early kill, but Echo have well and truly caught up, and even took the lead for a while today. Here's a small highlight from the previous days, as we had another door boss as a Sepulcher door just would not open on the way to Lihuvim, and after Blizzard manually opened it, a brand new bridge boss appeared as well! Luckily the acrobatics of a DH saved the day, but only after some serious theorycrafting and strategizing:

As for today, it all started with Echo catching up to Liquid's 6/11, suffering a power outage at their venue (similar to Liquid's from day 1), and finally getting even after around 6 hours, and getting quite a bit of time on the current unkilled boss, Halondrus. We've already taken a look at Liquid's Lihuvim kill, so let's see a clip of Echo's:

This started a wonderful day of side-by-side progress by both top guilds, as they bested each other's best percentages over and over. Echo called it a night on a high, after their best pull of the day at almost exactly 50%, and Liquid proceeded to push the rest of the night. The boss is truly the Painsmith of the raid (unless the next 3 bosses each are the Painsmith of the raid?), as Echo stopped their day at pull 109, while Liquid made it all the way up to 187! Their best pull was significantly lower, perhaps not in terms of percentages, since it's "only" a 41.41% try, but they aaalmost managed to make it into phase 3:

The boss is really very hard as you can imagine, but as no one has seen phase 3 yet, there's a lot of debate on if Blizzard have already pre-nerfed it, having seen the very top guilds struggle to push through to that phase, so this may be a matter of just making it into p3 relatively ok and then just coasting to the end. If not, this boss is going to take a LOT more pulls! One of the reasons the boss may be a little overtuned for his spot in the raid is that he had a VERY uneven/strange go of it on the PTR, basically just going crazy and getting some significant changes since then (losing an entire mechanic with the pillars). The good news is that the fight is working well, no bugs or anything similar, it's just very very tightly  tuned, but again, unless phase 3 is significantly easier than the other two... we may be seeing a 300-pull boss here in spot no.7 of 11...

Here's a look at the pull comparisons on Halondrus for the two top guilds:

Clipboard05.jpg

Meanwhile as the top 2 went at it, SK Pieces, Method and BDGG fought over 3rd place, with Method taking it at first on Pantheon, and SK Pieces then moving out in front on Lihuvim. We now have 4 guilds progressing on Halondrus, with BDGG joining SK Pieces, Echo and Liquid, as Method suffered a pretty tragic wipe right at the end of the raid day, which just has to be seen to be believed:

Oof indeed. Aster also pushed hard on the Asia side of things, ending the day with 5/11 and progressing on Lihuvim, actually very close to the very top. We also finally saw the Jailer go down on Heroic, as Alpha had the "well, if no one else can do it, we will!" attitude and getting us a video!

Here are the current top 10 standings:

We'll be back tomorrow with another summary, and hopefully with some Anduin action as well! Meanwhile you can check out Raider.IO's live coverage for a lot more details, clips, and everything related to the RWF.

Heartbond Lupine received a new flying animation in Patch 9.2.5. In this post, we compare the old and new animations in more detail.
Heartbond Lupine is a mount added in Patch 9.2 that comes from Protoform Synthesis. Its current flying animation makes it look as if the mount was swimming in the air.

In Patch 9.2.5 the flying run animation has been updated as you can see below. The mount no longer swims but walks in the air.

Which animation do you prefer? Let us know in the comments!

We have a pretty great new Easter egg coming with patch 9.2.5, featuring all the Windrunner siblings, a musical scene, and some props! As spotted by The Lost Codex, Windrunner Spire is getting a reference to the recent Sylvanas book in the form of 4 items scattered around the statue (with the bow actually being related to Sylvanas, not the arrow as noted later):
Some theorized that the order in which the characters disappear after the scene ends had some meaning, but it seems to be random, and sometimes they stick around for quite a while longer as well:

Magharathon Man programmed a run into their treadmill that follows along with an in-game video of their character running from the Scarab Gong in Silithus to the Broken Bridge in Winterspring.
The run's at 7 miles per hour (half of the player character's speed) and mimics terrain changes. The total run lasts 1 hour 17 minutes and 20 seconds. It covers 9.02 miles with 266 feet of overall elevation gain. The whole run was live-streamed on Twitch and uploaded to YouTube.   The run begins approximately 10 minutes into the video.   Source: Reddit

We have a survival guide for Patch 9.2.5 with everything coming in the latest Shadowlands update. Check it out!
      Everything Coming in Patch 9.2.5

Demon Armor has been removed. Shadowfall (New PvP Talent) added. Gain the Nightfall talent with 100% increased chance to gain its effect. If you already have this talent, you may select another in the same row. Cross-Faction Gameplay
In Patch 9.2.5 you can engage in certain types of content with the opposite faction. This includes Mythic Dungeons, Rated PvP, Raids, and Legacy raids.
You can't do outdoor world content and matchmaking activities (LFR or Normal/Heroic dungeons, Random Battlegrounds, Arena Skirmishes) with players of the opposite faction. Guilds will remain single faction. Communities can be cross-faction and they act like guilds. You cannot walk up to a player of the opposite faction and invite them. You must be members of the same cross-faction community, Battle.net friends, or the person must be listed in the premade Group Finder tool. The system comes with some restrictions that you will find here. New Race-Specific Questlines
Dark Iron Dwarves at Level 50 who completed their Heritage Armor questline can embark on a new quest to earn a mount and Heritage Weapons. The weapons can be used for transmog without any restrictions. Here's Grimhowl, the mount you can get.

Blood Elves Exalted with Silvermoon City can start a new questline in Oribos that rewards a Green Hawkstrider mount and a polearm (Veil-Touched Ranseur).

Blood Elf Paladins will additionally gain a Blood Knight armor set.

      New Enigma Arena
The Zereth Mortis Arena will become available in the Patch 9.2.5 update.
      Encrypted Content
Blizzard stepped up the game with encryption in Patch 9.2.5. There's a ton of encrypted content related to Brill, Lordaeron, Calia Menethil, and the Forsaken in the new patch.
One of the splash screens is encrypted in Patch 9.2.5.  There's a rumor of an Allied Race coming as a Dragonflight pre-order bonus circulating in the community. The theory points toward Darkfallen, which are Night Elves and Blood Elves with reddish eyes. There's a new questline taking place in Tirisfal Glades. A new minimap, suggesting Brill will be remade. The map of Lordaeron refers to the post-blight stage. Brill got a new flight path in 9.2.5. We know the encrypted Lordaeron content has something to do with Calia Menethil. One quest named Eyes of the Wolf wasn't encrypted. Still, it doesn't give much away. There is an encrypted armor set. Patch 9.2.5 could be the new standard when it comes to hiding content until the update hits live servers. Torghast Wings Availability
Torghast will have all its wings open in Patch 9.2.5. They will no longer be on a rotation.

New Stay Awhile and Listen Conversations
We have two endgame gossip dialogues available in 9.2.5. The first one's between Jaina and Khadgar.

The second dialogue is available between Taelia and Bolvar Fordragon.

      Updated Reporting Tools
The report player tool has been updated in Patch 9.2.5. We covered the changes in a separate post. Here's a preview of the new report UI.

Social Contract in World of Warcraft
Social Contract is a new policy that you must accept before playing World of Warcraft or leave the game. It's also coming to Wrath Classic.

      Flying Lupine Mount Animation Updated
The Heartbond Lupine is getting a brand new flying animation in Patch 9.2.5.
      Updates to Stormwind and Orgrimmar
Stormwind and Orgrimmar have been updated with new stable areas and their purpose is still unknown.

      Renown Catch-Up Improvements
Broker Mark of Distinction will increase the Renown of your active Covenant to 60 (up from 40). Renown catch-up is accelerated through Renown 60 (was 48). You'll gain 1 Renown from the following activities in Patch 9.2.5: Mythic and Mythic+ Dungeons, Torghast Layers 9-16, defeating Shadowlands raid bosses and winning Rated Battlegrounds. New Oribos Portals
In preparation for Shadowlands Season 4, Blizzard is adding new portals to Oribos to make it easier for players to reach the new dungeon locations.

      Legendary Leveling Improvements
Leveling up base items for Legendaries will become a lot easier in Patch 9.2.5! The experience required to reach higher base item ranks has been drastically reduced to allow more players to engage in the system late in the expansion.

It only takes 3 crafts per rank to reach the next Base Item rank in Patch 9.2.5
This article was partially inspired by MrGM's video linked below. The post contains some information not present in the video. Let me know in the comments down below if there's anything else missing!

A player in World of Warcraft tried out how many times they could fit the word "Silvermoon" into everything game-related and the result is pretty amazing.
Heavily inspired by the Revolver Ocelot meme, we present you Sílvermoon of Silvermoon member of the Silvermoon guild located on the Silvermoon server in Silvermoon City!

Now let us break things down a bit to make this less confusing:
The character's name is Sílvermoon. They obtained the "of Silvermoon" title from Exalted Champion of Silvermoon City. The player plays on a server named Silvermoon and is a member of the Silvermoon guild. The player is located in Silvermoon City.
Next, Sílvermoon summoned a companion who also happens to be called Silvermoon.

And to conclude everything on an epic note, Silvermoon (the companion) received a silver moon mark above its head...
