Asmongold had the chance to interview Ion Hazzikostas and here is a recap of their Dragonflight interview!

Interview Highlights

  • The team's really happy with Covenants panned out in Shadowlands.
  • Access to content utility will be account-wide in Patch 10.0.
  • There are currently no plans to incorporate Dragonriding in boss encounters. At this time, we won't see Malygos-style fights, where the whole group had to ride dragons to defeat the boss.
  • They would love to add new battlegrounds, but they would have to revamp the whole battleground queuing system. They're currently focusing on Ranked Solo Queue for Dragonflight and WoD-style gearing.
  • The Season 4 experiment might return later in Dragonflight to avoid content drought at the end of an expansion.
  • Clarity around what's tradeable is bad with the current loot system. They would like to bring back Master Loot but it's not easy. They've built a new system for 6 years and they can't simply flip the switch and make it work just like it did in the past.
  • The problem with addons nowadays is that they're more computational than informational, the team has no solution for the issue. Back in the day, you would call out who you need to bite during the Blood-Queen Lana'thel encounter in Wrath, but in Wrath Classic, we're likely going to see an addon that solves bites for you without the need of calling people out.
  • They are happy with how Sepulcher turned out even without PTR testing.
  • The sense of discovery and exploration is important to the team and they're working on encryption technology to make datamining harder.
  • The team's looking for feedback for what should be next after Wrath Classic.

Really wish they talked about future Allied Races. Maybe at the end of the expansion, like with Legion

hint: a big evil black dragon causes it, in classic fashion.

Also, I would love more solo options for players. I get it's an MMO, but people shouldn't be disqualified from large content in MMOs just because they either don't have friends that play, or prefer playing at their own schedules.

I'm deeply worried what their plan is if they think covenants panned out well...

Could be just me but i got the feeling they're aware endless power grind with no goals and power locked behind them aren't the best. It seems to me they mentioned this won't be the case, with dragonflight reps simply being there as regular reputations

A bit disappointing that a 'mount collection achievements' increase question or further allied race question, such as if they will keep them 'allied' and not 'neutral' despite cross faction, wasn't asked but overall a very good Q&A, probably the best so far.

I liked covenants. Added a neat dynamic to what would've just been wq, dungeon, raid.

They already said no new allied races in 10.0. Maybe later in the expansion, but definitely not right away.

I'm pretty sure that was a "tongue in cheek" response. The way covenents EVENTUALLY turned out hasn't been the worst. The implementation and systems around them however took a while to fix. The look in Ion's eyes made me think he was saying it that way to troll a little bit.

Content creator MrGM found a glitch that allowed him to create a cross-faction guild on the Patch 9.2.5 PTR.
Blizzard clearly stated that guilds will remain single-faction in Patch 9.2.5 in a blue post about cross-faction instances.
      (Source)
Guilds will remain single-faction, and random matchmade activities like Heroic dungeons, Skirmishes, or Random Battlegrounds will all remain same-faction (both because there is less faction-driven pressure around random groups, and to avoid compromising the opt-in nature of the feature by randomly placing a queuing orc in a group with a night elf). However, content creator MrGM found a glitch that allowed him to break the system and create a cross-faction guild on the Patch 9.2.5 PTR.
The group went with a guild charter into Torghast and created a guild there. Probably any cross-faction content would work to replicate the bug. Players of the opposite faction were able to sign the guild charter it and when the guild was created, each player could invite players from their faction into the guild, meaning Alliance players could invite other Alliance players to join and vice-versa.

We have another sign of just how close we are to 9.2.5 launching, as Martin Benjamins, a well known dataminer and Community Council member, has spotted that the patch has moved to the production hardware and software side of the PTR! With yesterday's build being labeled as a release candidate and the fact that the move to this side of the PTR usually marks 1 week before the actual launch, could we be seeing the patch as soon as next week?

The big argument against this is we still haven't heard any official announcements from Blizzard on the release date, but usually with patches they do so with the Season ending soon posts, and considering Season 3 is NOT ending when patch 9.2.5 launches, this might be less of an issue. Official patch date announcements tend to come right around the first release candidate appearing so let's see if we hear anything official soon, but until then, there's a solid likelihood of 9.2.5 arriving a lot sooner than expected!

Fishbones06 is back with more glyph options, this time some very angry and very polearm-y Warriors, and we paired that with one of their earlier works with blacksmith-themed elemental glyphs as well!
Starting with the Warriors, we have some Alliance/Horde themed ones, with a banner linked to Rallying Cry and polearm + shield combo (which is a bit more of a transmog) on the Alliance side, and all the anger linked to Dragon Roar for Horde. (The image is animated, just click on it if it doesn't auto-start.)
Then there's an older concept, with some blacksmith-themed Shaman elementals:

      Source.
And finally, here are some comments from the glyph-maker:
Exactly, I started making them because if you go to any wow forum, the community has list and list of ideas for Glyphs, but no visual representation.
      ...
The thrust animation and the ready idle stance is real. The only thing I changed was the arm holding the polearm.
      ...
I agree, the artist truly are the heroes. I'm just playing and changing the assets they've provided. On classes I dont play much, I rely on class forums on what they would want to see. My goal for this, is to just bring visual representation to these ideas and to push blizzard into consider them and to see the excitement from the community for something like this.

Content creator MGM found out during Patch 9.2.5 testing that cross-faction queue works for Timewalking raids, which is a neat feature!
Cross-faction grouping comes with a few limitations; you must be Battle.net Friends with the person you're inviting or you both need to be members of the same cross-faction community. So far, we thought the feature was limited to Mythic+, raids, and Legacy raids.
It turns out you can queue up for Timewalking raids cross-faction as well. You can learn more about cross-faction play in our overview.

We're looking at some interesting Genn Greymane audio files from Patch 9.2.5. This post contains spoilers.
The audio files play during the "Eyes of the Wolf" quest when Greymane sends you to meet Calia Menethil in Brill and spy on the Forsaken as they're gathering in Tirisfal Glades for an unknown purpose.
      Transcript
Genn Greymane: You must don a disguise and travel deep into enemy territory. Do not let down your guard.
Genn Greymane: In life, Calia Menethil endured more than her share of sorrow. She may not be a typical undead, but the Forsaken are not to be trusted.
Placeholder for tweet 1528767413696733184 Sylvanas no longer unites the Forsaken and your goal is to find out what they are up to. Genn also says "Calia is no typical undead". Do you think Genn will try to hunt her down or attack the Forsaken at their gathering?
I wouldn't be surprised if he secretly planned a coup. After all, it was Sylvanas who killed his son Liam Greymane.
Most of the Patch 9.2.5 content remains encrypted, so we don't know exactly what will transpire until the patch hits live servers.
