Earlier today, Square Enix released two notices regarding FFXIV data center expansion plans for both Japan and Europe. The posts explain the plan to add a new logical data center to Japan and announce the upcoming implementation of new worlds in Europe's Chaos and Light data centers.

You can read the separate announcements in their entirety below.

In Patch 6.18, a new logical data center, Meteor, will be added to the Japanese data center, and certain existing Worlds will be redistributed within it.

This announcement will review the schedule for maintenance and the period during which eligible players may use the Home World Transfer Service free of charge. Additionally, effects of World redistribution on certain in-game features will be explained below.

Patch 6.18 will also introduce the Data Center Travel system, which allows players to temporarily visit other logical data centers within their physical data center.

For more information, please refer to our announcements on
World Regrouping and Data Center Travel.

Patch 6.18 Scheduled Maintenance

Tuesday, July 5, 2022
* Maintenance for Patch 6.18 is expected to last 24 hours due to the Japanese/European data center expansions and the implementation of the Data Center Travel system.

Using the Home World Transfer Service Free of Charge

Schedule

Access to the Home World Transfer Service will be suspended temporarily prior to maintenance for Patch 6.18. We will restore access after verifying that the Japanese/European data center expansions and the Data Center Travel system are stable. At that time, eligible players may use the Home World Transfer Service free of charge for approximately two weeks. For the latest updates regarding Home World Transfer availability, please visit the Lodestone.

Overview

During the time period described above, all characters in Japanese data centers are eligible to transfer Home Worlds free of charge.

Furthermore, the following bonuses will be awarded at the time of transfer:

  • Owners of private estates will be reimbursed 100% of their plot's buying price, plus additional compensation of 3,000,000 gil for non-recoverable furnishings.
  • Owners of apartments will be reimbursed the standard buying price of 500,000 gil, plus additional compensation of 500,000 gil for non-recoverable furnishings.

* Please apply for a Home World Transfer after removing your furnishings, but DO NOT relinquish your land or vacate your apartment. If you have relinquished the deed to your plot/rights to your property, you will not be eligible for the bonuses listed above.
* Please note that any gil exceeding the maximum of 999,999,999 will be lost.
* Players may not transfer to a Congested World.
* When transferring to a Preferred World, applicable bonuses will stack (excluding duplicates).
* Characters that have transferred Home Worlds may not transfer again for 3 days. Additionally, characters that have transferred to a Preferred World will be restricted from using the Home World Transfer Service for 90 days.

Effects of World Regrouping

Cross-world Linkshells

  • Should a cross-world linkshell member transfer to the Meteor data center, a channel with the same name will be created in Meteor without deleting any members. By using the Data Center Travel system, members may communicate via that linkshell while in the same data center.

* If a cross-world linkshell with the same name already exists, a number may be added to the name for purposes of differentiation.
* Changes made to the duplicate cross-world linkshell will not be reflected in the original channel, and vice versa. If new members are added, they may use the Data Center Travel system introduced in Patch 6.18 to join the cross-world linkshell in each logical data center, thereby maintaining an updated roster in all iterations of the linkshell.

PvP Teams

  • Should a PvP team member transfer to the Meteor data center, a PvP team with the same name will be created in Meteor.

* If a PvP team with the same name already exists, a number may be added to the name for purposes of differentiation.

  • Members belonging to different data centers will be automatically removed from the team.

* This removal will not be displayed in PvP Team Activity.

Fellowships

  • Should a fellowship master transfer to the Meteor data center, the fellowship itself will also transfer to Meteor. Members belonging to different logical data centers will be automatically removed from the fellowship.

Deep Dungeons

  • Players will be unable to resume save data that includes members who transferred to a different data center. We ask that you either complete your campaign before the implementation of Patch 6.18, or use the Data Center Travel system to challenge these dungeons in the original data center.

In addition to these effects, please note there may be instances where World names have been saved locally (such as in the Contact List) and are no longer correctly displayed.

Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida described a major server expansion of the European data centers in the announcement, Regarding the Expansion of FFXIV's Operations. This expansion is planned to be carried out in two phases, the first of which will be covered in this post.

Implementation of the first phase is scheduled to take place during maintenance for Patch 6.18 on Tuesday, July 5. Four Worlds will be added in total, with two Worlds being added to each data center as listed below.

New Worlds in the Chaos Data Center

  • Sagittarius
  • Phantom

New Worlds in the Light Data Center

  • Alpha
  • Raiden

* Maintenance for Patch 6.18 is expected to last 24 hours due to the Japanese/European data center expansions and the implementation of the Data Center Travel system.

New World Bonuses

You may earn a variety of bonuses by creating a new character on a newly established World, or by transferring an existing character to a newly established World.

Please note that access to the Home World Transfer Service will be suspended temporarily prior to maintenance for Patch 6.18. We will restore access after verifying that the Japanese/European data center expansions and the Data Center Travel system are stable. For the latest updates regarding the availability of Home World transfers, please visit the Lodestone.

With the Benchmark now available, players have been busy testing their PCs, and some have already discovered an interesting new detail within the Benchmark!
Many players have gone over the Dawntrail Benchmark cutscenes, particularly the gear and weapons that can be equipped on the character featured in the cutscene.
In doing so, some have noticed that certain Viper weapons bear a resemblance to older weapons. For instance, as mentioned by Eksu Plosion on Twitter/X, different weapons for the Dreadwyrm and Omega sets can be seen in the Benchmark.
The pressing question is: does this mean we will be able to obtain weapons from old ultimate fights or other older raids for the new Jobs?

Yoshi-P did mention a desire to re-evaluate the rewards from various content, suggesting this could be a possibility. It would be a welcome addition to acquire new job weapons, even if it is just for the purpose of using them as weapon glams, as some of them look really nice.
It is of course possible that these are merely new leveling weapons, but for now, the question remains unanswered! As the community speculates, only time will reveal the true nature of these newly found details.

April 14th marks the day you can join fellow adventurers in preparing for the next chapter of FF14. Get the Dawntrail Benchmark software and see if your rig is up to the challenge!
During the 14-hour stream and Live Letter, Yoshi-P announced the official benchmark times and dates. So let's go over everything you need to know about it!
The official Benchmark software will be released on April 14th at 12 am PT / 3 am ET.

By using the Benchmark software, you will have the opportunity to test your computer and ensure it can run the game with its new and updated graphics.
The Dawntrail Benchmark will feature the new graphical updates and a character creation tool that includes female Hrothgar! You will be able to save the appearance of your female Hrothgar and use it directly when you switch your race at launch.
Keep in mind, though, that the Benchmark is a special piece of software that you will need to download; it is not a trial version and will not allow you to play Final Fantasy XIV. It will simply run models, effects, and more to test your computer, informing you if your PC can handle the new graphics and the settings at which you can play Dawntrail.
You can check out the Benchmark trailer below.
The software can be downloaded on the official website here: Dawntrail Benchmark
Once you have access to the Benchmark, follow these instructions:
Download the ZIP file. Uncompress the ZIP file. Execute the EXE file. Select the language to display, read through the Software License Agreement, and use the software. Start the Benchmark. If your PC cannot fulfill the system requirements to run it, the program will automatically close. This means you will need to update your PC before the launch if you want to play Dawntrail. After accepting the terms of the Software License Agreement, a launcher window for the benchmark will appear. Here, you can adjust various settings for the cutscenes used to measure system performance Change the graphics settings to the level at which you would like to benchmark your system. Start cutscene playback and measure your system's performance. When the cutscenes end, the launcher will reappear and display your benchmark results.
After testing, feel free to share your Benchmark scores on social media! We encourage you to participate in the test, as it is a great way to determine whether your computer can handle the new graphics and how well it performs.

During the Letter from the Producer Live LXXX and 14-hour broadcast, Yoshi-P shared several details about the upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. Here is everything you need to know.
Firstly, we want to give a shoutout to Toshio Murouchi, also known as Foxclon, FFXIV's Global Community Producer, for his extraordinary cosplay of Zodiark and Hydaelyn! He is likely the first to cosplay both characters simultaneously, and the result is truly remarkable, as you can see:

Now, let's go over all the important details shared during the Live Letter:
The Dawntrail Benchmark software releases on April 14th! You will be able to test how your PC handles the new graphics. Graphics Update: Yoshi-P presented an hour-long showcase of the new graphic updates. He covered multiple settings, areas, NPCs, and more to demonstrate the extensive details of the graphical update and its implications.
For example, the way the wind moves will now vary depending on the weather or when a character interacts with it. Material Reflection: Gear material reflection in light will differ based on whether it is fabric or metal. Enhanced Settings: New options have been added for lighting, shadows, and more. Zone Density: Expect richer environments with no more low-poly objects; even small items have been updated. Performance Settings: AMD FSR 1.0 and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 performance settings are now available. 3D Graphics Resolution Scaling: On Windows and Mac platforms, when AMD FSR is selected, resolution scaling can be adjusted between 50-100%. Dynamic Resolution: This feature will automatically adjust screen resolution when the frame rate drops below the desired threshold, maintaining both resolution quality and frame rate at higher levels than before. Console Updates: Both PS4 and Xbox Series S will receive the graphical update, though some features may be limited to reduce stress on the consoles.
New Climbing Spot: A new climbing area has been introduced in Tural.
7.0 Blacklist Improvements: Enhanced Blacklist Functionality, Mute list added, term filter added, estate expulsion feature, Enhanced Lodestone Privacy Settings. Blacklisted characters will be visible in certain situations, like dungeons or raids.
Following the previous updates and improvements, the Yo-Kai Watch event is making a comeback on April 24th!

More details will be released on a later date.
