No Catalyst Charge Catch-Up in Dragonflight

Recommended Posts

There is no Catalyst charge catch-up in Dragonflight. If you haven't completed last week's Catalyst quest, you will be only granted 1 charge this week upon completing the weekly.

Many players wondered if they could catch up on Catalyst charges when they did not complete last week's Catalyst quest. Unfortunately, the answer here is no.

Completing the weekly quest will only grant you 1 Catalyst charge this week. However, the good news is all your alts will be given a charge when you complete the weekly quest on your main and all characters on your account can contribute to the weekly quest progress. Every character can accumulate a maximum of 6 charges.

This week, you can pick up the weekly Catalyst quest conveniently at the Great Vault in Valdrakken.

Why would you get a catch-up? If you don't do the work, you don't deserve the reward.

The charges only serve as a time gate to how much gear you can upgrade at once, and Blizzard has repeatedly shown they are trying to move away from penalizing you for "not playing last week" when it comes to individual responsible mechanics, similar to how the Valor cap works. So for them to introduce an individual system with the express intent of giving people a way to overcome RNG of raid drops and vault choices but not have a catch up for the charge mechanic, runs counter to that ideology.

Does that explain it well enough for you Captain Tryhard?

This seems extremely unwise. Df is generally solid with letting you play at your pace, and the catalyst is a catchup system in the first place. It seems backwards to make it important to play each week.

I didn't go pick up this quest when it launched as I had 4-set already on my main - thought it would be like the sparks for alts. But NOOOO, now I'm forever behind because I didn't accept ONE stupid quest? Bad design. Should be doable back-to-back to add charges up to level of everyone else, just like with the sparks!

We have the (modified) class tuning pass in today's hotfixes, as well as dungeon, item, quest and mob improvements, in addition to a Wrath Classic fix!
      March 27 (Source)
Death Knight Frost [With realm restarts] All ability damage reduced by 3%. Druid Balance Denizen of the Dream's trigger rate was unintentionally increased. It has been restored to its intended value. Restoration Fixed an issue that caused Forest's Flow to not properly extend heal over time effects on allies. Evoker Fixed an issue where empower spells could fail to auto-fire at Rank 1 when released prior to that point. Fixed an issue preventing Oppressing Roar's cooldown from being reduced when dispelling Enrage effects with the Overawe talent. Hunter Beast Mastery [With realm restarts] Kill Command damage reduced by 10%. Marksmanship [With realm restarts] All ability and pet damage reduced by 4%. Survival [With realm restarts] Mongoose Bite damage reduced by 10%. This does not affect PvP combat. Paladin Retribution Fixed an issue that caused Fading Light's value to be higher than intended for Retribution Paladins. Warlock Developers’ note: We’re modifying the output of Grimoire of Sacrifice to bring it in line with the output of Warlock demons. At the end of the day Warlock is a pet-centric class and while we want there to be an option to opt-out of your pet, we don’t want it to always be the clear answer. [With realm restarts] Wrathful Minion now increases the damage of Grimoire of Sacrifice by 10% (was 15%). [With realm restarts] Demonic Inspiration now increases the damage of Grimoire of Sacrifice by 10% (was 15%). [With realm restarts] Grimoire of Sacrifice damage reduced by 15%. Affliction Developers’ note: With the removal of less impactful talents in both their class and specialization trees, Affliction received a lot of additional damage options that have increased their damage beyond what was intended. We’re making these adjustments to bring them in line with other damage dealers. [With realm restarts] Damage done by spells and abilities reduced by 2%. [With realm restarts] Darkglare damage reduced by 20%. Demonology Developers’ note: We’re targeting Demonology’s multi-target profile with these adjustments to bring them closer to other damage dealers. We will continue to watch both single-target and multi-target performance, along with the output of new talents and adjustments delivered in 10.0.7, and make further adjustments down the road if needed. [With realm restarts] Demonic Strength now increases the damage of Felstorm by 300% (was 400%). This does not affect PvP combat. [With realm restarts] Dreadbite damage reduced by 10%. This does not affect PvP combat. Dungeons and Raids
Temple of the Jade Serpent Wise Mari Freezing Ice Stone (Primordial Stone) triggers no longer disrupt the direction of Wash Away casts. Zul'Gurub The Archaeology skill requirement for the Cache of Madness event has been reduced to 1 (was 225). Brazier of Madness, Shattered Hakkari Bijou, and Fragmented Hakkari Bijou no longer have a level requirement. Warblades of the Hakkari, Reborn are now bind on account (was bind on pickup) to allow anyone to acquire the appearances regardless of who their blacksmith is. Fixed an issue that allowed the Brazier of Madness to be lootable prior to completing Relics of a Fallen Empire. Zul'Aman Fixed an issue that allowed Bijous and Coins to drop in the instance. Enemies and NPCs
Fael'lin Hellfire Walls will now correctly display the cast bar. Living Fuse will no longer target player's pets. Items and Rewards
Fixed an issue where Primordial Stones were pulling enemies that you were not in combat with. Player versus Player
Paladin [Live March 24] Crusader’s Reprieve healing reduced by 50% in PvP combat. Protection [Live March 24] Judgment of Light healing reduced by 35% for Protection Paladins in PvP combat. Retribution Developers’ note: Retribution Paladins have been heavily overperforming in PvP with their recent 10.0.7 changes. We’re primarily targeting their burst damage, passive survivability, and PvP talents that we feel are contributing too much overall damage. [Live March 24] Judgment of Light healing reduced by 35% for Retribution Paladins in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Inquisitor’s Ire effectiveness reduced by 40% in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Fading Light effectiveness reduced by 50% for Retribution Paladins in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Justicar’s Vengeance now deals 15% additional damage to stunned targets in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Justicar’s Vengeance healing reduced by 50% in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Blessing of Dawn effectiveness reduced by 25% for Retribution Paladins in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Divine Arbiter direct damage reduced by 25% in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Vanguard of Justice effectiveness reduced by 25% in PvP combat. [Live March 24] Empyrean Legacy increases the damage of Divine Storm by 15% in PvP combat (was 25%). [Live March 24] Luminescence (PvP Talent) now increases damage and healing by 2% (was 4%). [Live March 24] Lawbringer (PvP Talent) now deals 2% of maximum health (was 4%). [Live March 24] Fixed an issue that caused Avenging Wrath’s 75% PvP multiplier to not function for Retribution Paladins. Shaman Precognition will no longer be activated when players are successfully interrupted while affected by Tranquil Air Totem. Quests
"Brew for the Ages" should now correctly point to the Zskera Vault door to find the recipe pages, in case you have not unlocked that vault door yet. Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Fixed an issue where Val'anyr, Hammer of the Ancient Kings was absorbing more than intended. Accumulated absorb amounts are now correctly capped at 20,000 health. Developers' note: The absorb shield from Val'anyr was always intended to have a cap of 20,000 health, but there was a typo in the spell script in original Wrath of the Lich King version 3.3.5. The script was set the absorb amount to 200,000! This was never noticed by players in original Wrath.

We're back with the first week of data for patch 10.0.7 as we take a look at how the specs are doing in the Vault! We already took a peek last week and things have changed a little, but while Warlocks did get several fixes to tone them down a little, they're still doing very well indeed, and we look in on Retribution after the revamp as well. Also important to remember, some specs are getting nerfs with this week's reset, and you can check out all the tuning here.
      Overall Damage 95th Percentile
While Affliction did get removed from the No.1 spot it didn't go too far, but this may be just a residual result of the two bugs that affected/helped the spec early in the week, so we'll have to wait until next time to find out. What is clear is that Frost DK is far ahead (and is thus getting a 3% overall nerf this week), and the other Warlocks that only benefited from one bug are close by. Marksmanship finds itself in 4th without any bugs (that we know of), and Shadow has fallen from its throne down to 6. Subtlety is only two down from before the patch, while Devastation drops the farthest in the top 10, dropping 6 spots down to 8th. Arms is also down quite a bit, tying Shadow for that 2nd worst-off spot, 5 down in 9th, while Havoc rounds out the top 10 only having dropped 1! Retribution's rework sees it getting just outside the top 10, passing Balance and Outlaw just today. As one DK spec makes it big, the other apparently must pay the price, with Unholy dropping down to the bottom 3 to join Assassination and Arcane.

95th percentile Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Overall Damage All Percentiles
Affliction is still lingering at the top in the overall bracket, which may or may not be due to the bugs. However, Marksmanship is doing much better here, snagging the No.2 spot and sitting in a Warlock sandwich, as Subtletly only drops 2 spots into 4th. Frost DK finds itself a few spots down since the patch, but it's doing fine compared to Shadow, which definitely wins the biggest fall prize, finding itself down in 6th after having reigned supreme for quite a while. We then have the spec of the hour as we see a pink trace up there in 7th, with the Retribution rework having done wonders (and unlike its PvP counterpart, it's not getting nerfed! Arms is also down quite a bit, as Outlaw and Havoc close out the top 10, while Destruction is just outside, but as we mentioned before, we'll have to check back with Warlocks next week to see the real picture. Unholy joins two Mage specs at the bottom, dropping 6 spots.
All percentiles Mythic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Heroic DPS
It's all Affliction all the time in the lower difficulties, but we do see Hunters bring it as well, with beast Mastery joining Marksmanship in the top 3, and even Survival making it into the top 10! Assassination and Arcane fall down from their No.1 and 2 spots, but not that far, as they find themselves in 4th and 5th.

All percentiles Heroic data by Warcraft Logs.
      Normal DPS
The 3 Hunters in top 4 situation continues, but this time it's Affliction joining them instead of Arms, and it's taking over. The Hunters are all bunched up in spots 2 to 4, and we see a GIANT move from Retribution after the revamp, rising a massive 16 spots right into 5th!
All percentiles Normal data by Warcraft Logs.
Meanwhile you can check out our Dragonflight class guides here or our Vault of the Incarnates guides here, as well as more data from Warcrat Logs here.
