Dragonflight Season 2 DPS Log Rankings for Aberrus, Week 2: Tuning Results, Arcane Out of Control

Recommended Posts

Clipboard05.jpg

Week 2 of Aberrus is behind us and last week's tuning has had a chance to take effect, but despite not having received any changes, Arcane is dominating everyone, pretty much everywhere. Before we get into the numbers, here's our Arcane guide writer explaining why this may be the case:

Arcane Mages shot up a a lot this week in the logs on Heroic and Normal difficulty. There are a couple of things that most likely caused this to happen.

First of all, last week, people clearing for the first time would not have any of the new set bonuses yet. Arcane has an extremely strong 2 set of the new tier (although 4-set is quite weak), which means that obtaining 2 set last week and then getting to used to it this week would be a significant DPS improvement. Additionally, the average kill time of bosses went down significantly, due to the massive influx of new gear from last week. Since Arcane is a very bursty spec, and benefits from double Bloodlust Bloodlust/Time Warp Time Warp, short kills boost their DPS significantly.

- Dutchmagoz

As mentioned above, there's still a lot of players waiting to complete their sets, so the rankings will still be shifting over the next weeks as that evens out, but Arcane is certainly the winner of the 2-set jackpot! Mythic is still not really a good place to look for stats, as not many have gotten most of the bosses down, but if you simply MUST know, we've added that chart to the bottom as well.

Heroic

Overall Damage 95th Percentile

While we had a close fight on our hands in the first week of Aberrus... oh boy is that not the case this time around. Arcane has skyrocketed in to an insane lead, with almost 10K DPS more than its closest competitor, and a lot more than that from everyone else. Demonology is the only one keeping up with the out of control Mage and also has a solid lead ahead of everyone else, but at least the rest of the pack are relatively close to each other. Demo has come out of nowhere, rising 9 spots into 2nd (and without the aid of any tuning), and Devastation followed suit to a lesser degree, gaining 2 spots in 3rd. Unholy and Subtletly are sporting almost identical numbers as the Evoker, with the Rogue having dropped 3 spots over the last week. While Shadow is a little higher this time around, Fury has also taken a rocket trip towards the top, winning the "most improved" trophy for the week, shoving past 10 other specs to land in 7th. Balance reclaims the Druid top spot, as Feral plummets to the bottom, while Destruction finds itself down in 9th, dropping 6 spots. Marksmanship is barely holding on to the top 10, 4 down at the end of it. Down at the bottom we see Frost DK finally moving out of the last 3 spots, as the aforementioned Feral joins Fire and Beast Mastery there.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

Arcane is rampaging through the generalist bracket as well, ahead in pretty much all the percentiles, and by a lot and surpassing previous No.1 Subtletly, but the Rogues does hold on a lot better here, only dropping to 2nd. Demo replaces Destro in 3rd, Unholy and Marksmanship hold on to their positions, and Fury is still bursting through to the top, gaining an even more impressive 11 spots here (which is to be expected, as the Warrior spec is notoriously gear-dependent)! Balance is also greatly improved, almost beating Fury out for "most improved", but it "only" gained 10 spots, so better luck next time.

Boss Only Damage All Percentiles

The direct boss damage chart isn't looking any better for specs that aren't Arcane, as its insane advantage remains here as well. The rest is looking similar to last week, aside from the two in-class switches, with Demonology replacing Destruction for Warlocks (and moving up a whole lot in the process) and Subtletly flipping with Assassination for Rogues. Affliction also moved up a lot, while Retribution dropped a few, and Havoc managed to dig itself up out of the bottom 3.

Normal

Arcane is even more out of control in Normal, as the short fights give the spec even more of an advantage. The Warlock struggle gets a face-to-face component here, as Destro and Demo are neck and neck.

Mythic

As before, the Mythic rankings are extremely incomplete, with only 10 guilds having actually finished the raid. We do see an entirely different set up here though, whether it's because of that or the longer and harder fights, as Elemental finds itself at the very top, and Arcane down in the middle of the pack!

We're taking a closer look at the Mythic+ Tier List for the fifth week of Dragonflight Season 2!
      DISCLAIMER
The following post is based on statistics provided by Subcreation, a website that gathers various Mythic+ data from live servers. Please note that the tier list is biased toward the top end because it only looks at the top 100 keys per dungeon per affix and ignores keys below +16 and untimed runs.
For the reasons mentioned above, the data presented here will always differ from the Mythic Tier Lists maintained by Petko.
      Data Reliability
The data used in the post comes from Subcreation, a site maintained by Alcaras. Subcreation provides statistical analysis of Mythic+ dungeons, raids, and PvP in Shadowlands, and the data is provided via the Warcraft Logs API and Raider.io. If you'd like to support Subcreation, you can check out their Patreon.
      How the Data is Calculated
The site looks at the top 100 keys per dungeon per affix across all regions and examines their raider.io scores. For each dungeon and specialization, the site takes the lower bound of a 95% confidence interval of the top 100 runs for each specialization. The site then averages these lower bounds, one per dungeon, to get an overall average lower bound for each spec, which is finally used to create the tier list.
The site takes the lower bounds of the 95% confidence interval calculated and then clusters them into 6 buckets using the Ckmeans algorithm. You can find more information by reading the site's FAQ.
Tanks, Healers, Melee, and Ranged are all on the same scale. They're just shown separately for easier comparison across roles.
Mythic+ Tier List for Dragonflight Season 2 Week 5
The specs are ranked based on their lb_ci which stands for the lower bound of a 95% confidence interval. If a certain tier is missing, it's not occupied by any specialization.
The following tier list is for this week's affixes: Tyrannical, Volcanic, Sanguine.
The images from Subcreation are currently experiencing some issues as classes are listed in the incorrect order, but you will find the correct order in text format.

Quantum items are a new type of cosmetics coming in Patch 10.1.5 that teach you appearances from the past, including weapons and armor.
The latest Patch 10.1.5 Build 49908 adds quantum items. While we don't know exactly how they will work, the tied spells indicate they will teach you item appearances from the past. Maybe this is Blizzard's new way of bringing back removed items like the ones from Zul'Gurub or Naxxramas in Patch 10.1.5 and instead of having X items you must collect, there will be just 1 sort of "token" with many appearances tied to it.
The following Quantum items have been added so far:
Quantum Wand Quantum Staff Quantum Warglaives Quantum Sword Quantum Polearm Quantum Shield Quantum Mace Quantum Shoulders Quantum Headpiece Quantum Knuckles Quantum Legs Quantum Knife Quantum Focus Quantum Greathammer Quantum Greatsword Quantum Gloves Quantum Bow Quantum Crossbow Quantum Firearm Quantum Chestpiece Quantum Axe
