Arcane Mage 6.2

Recommended Posts

Question, is it still that evocation removes the arcane charge stacks? as during my LFR i did today it actually did happen. Thanks in advance

It does.

Is arcane power glyph worth it? seeing that every cd and t17 t2 line up so great together

Right now, we don't have access to T17 set pieces, but we will update the guide once Blackrock Foundry is out.

Mirror Image is a tier 6 talent, not 5. A minor typo.

To be frank, it depends on the encounter type. PC is indeed slightly better on single target, while Orb is better on multitarget/cleave fights.

I prefer the  arcane orb ! do u think when we get the 2 piece and 4 piece bonus the orb will become a more powerful choice ? with the way it procs missles and quickly  gets you to 4 charges

Depends on the encounter, really. smile.png

The tier bonuses doesn't change your priority.

Please...

I don't understant the statistics priority.

You said :

Haste increases the cast speed of your spells and your Mana regeneration.

I'm ok with the cast speed xD

But I don't understand the mana regeneration. I looked the tooltip of Haste Ingame and I didn't see anything like that.

I saw spirit for the mana regeneration (But I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that spirit only work for healers.)

I also see that crit is 5th and even behind multistrike.

Can I have some explanations on this ?

I explain why:

I'm arcane AND fire

for my stuff fire, I want mastery and crit ( a lot of pieces on BFR are mastery/haste so I have a few in my BISs)

For arcane I also need mastery. I was thinking about how far I could use my fire stuff with my arcane specialisation.

(I'm not sure that I speak an understandable english xD... Just tell me if there is a point you didn't understood.)

Regarding haste:

inv_elemental_mote_mana.jpgNether Attunement

Crit is just worse than the other stats and this is calculated by a tool called Simcraft.

If you want to go for Arcane/Fire hybrid, you can prioritize mastery of crit for fire and you can just freely switch spec at anytime you want.

You should open a topic in the mage forums.

In the macros section for arc mages. the cool down macro calls for a Jade serpent flask. Should that be updated to  a dreanic intel flask?

Are you not supposed to cast AM during the burn phase? It makes sense to cast AM while AP is still up, but then my mana never gets low enough to warrant evocation. And you write that one should have 3 stacks of missiles ready before burn phase. Am I missing something?

As the guide says:

During burn phase, the spell priority stays the same. AM>AB

The difference is, during the burn phase, you never cast Arcane Barrage.

If you don't get AM procs, you just keep spamming AB until 50% mana, even after AP is over, so you can make use of Evocation.

As in "priority stays the same" do you mean we should still use only 1 out of the 3 procs of AM?

It's hard to see the priority with the same eyes since during conservation phase AM can also be used to extend your stay in the >90% mana while burn phase, well, it's to let the world burn on your arcane mana powaah.

I've been having issues with that during the burn phases, at times I use only the 1 proc to avoiding wasting new ones, and sometimes I use em all (cycling with Blasts) to extend the time it will take to reach the 50% mana mark.

Most of the time I manage to get at least 1 more Nova in between to fish for another AM proc and only hit the Evo when there is no other option but what is "the right way" of managing AM during burn phases stays a mystery to me.

In the guide is made clear that you should start the burning procedures with 3 AM stacks but it is not really mentioned in the rotation where they should be fitted.

The theory is the same.

You should use the AMs whenever possible to stay on as high mana as possible.

If you are on max stacks os AM, you definitely use AM. You don't want to waste AM procs.

But, if you don't have max stacks and you are already on 100% mana, then you should rather use an AB, so that you don't "waste" mana.

The point is: The spell priority stays the same during burn phase, but you NEVER use Arcane Barrage in there. Keep using your spell arsenal, like you would normally, but never use Arcane Barrage. Once you go below 50% mana, cast Evocation go back to 100% and start the converse phase.

During Burn phase it is still beneficial to stay on as high mana as possible.

I am new to the World of Warcraft. Like many of the most recent WoW players I was instantly boosted to level 90. I have since raised my level to 100. I want to be the best Arcane mage I possibly can but after only two months of playing my DPS is still quite horrible. Around 13k DPS in a raid I believe. Reading these forums and guids is a bit of a help but alot of times I have no idea whats being talked about. Where would be a better place for me to gather information?

im wondering as arcane stat become  (with 4 piece and archimonde trinket)

haste>Multi/mastery>crit>vers

and frost stats will become

multistrike>haste/crit>mastery

isnt it smarter to stack like alot of haste/multistrike-haste/mastery gear for both specs so you dont have to switch around with ger alot as the tier items will be the same bis and the trinkets are the same bis for both specs

I don't think there is a better possible place for beginners than this website. Everything is explained with an easy-to-understand English, and links to the spell descriptions. If this is not enough, then You should try looking for video guides on youtube. Maybe there you can see the rotations in action. Also in our forums, there is a topic for arcane magi about "how to analyze your own dps".

Hey! I've been thinking.

*DISCLAIMER* : I've always loved Arcane Barrage. I try to make it work every patch since they changed it from a nuke to effectivly a stack reset tool*

From my testing, it seems that multistrike can trigger on Arcane Barrage's secondary targets.

Now, I have a theory, and im not sure about it, but can mutli-strikes trigger Arcane Missiles? If so, would a spec trading Haste for Multistrike whose main rotation is Arcane Missile Arcane Barrage spam have any chance of working?

Yes, of course could be working. But with a signifficant DPS loss. The rotation we (or other theory crafters from altered-time) are providing has been tested thoroughly in game and by simulation craft and it is the one that gives you the highest DPS.

Sorry for spliting this into two comments, but, does Multistrike WORK on arcane mages? I really enjoy watching double attacks go off.

Could I stack Multistrike as an arcane mage without sacrificing dps?

Today's hotfixes are still very Plunderstorm-heavy, but we do get fixes for more achievement-related mount issues and PvP catch-up, in addition to the limited time event's adjustments.
      March 27 (Source)
      Achievements
Fixed bugs causing mounts related to A World Awoken to be unavailable, including Bestowed Ottuk Vanguard, Bestowed Trawling Mammoth, Bestowed Thunderspine Packleader, Bestowed Sandskimmer, Bestowed Ohuna Spotter, Coralscale Salamanther, Stormtouched Bruffalon, and Taivan. Player versus Player
Fixed an issue that prevented Splintered Sparks of Dreams from dropping from PvP sources while eligible for catch-up. Plunderstorm
The Storm’s fury swells! Lightning strikes during the final stage of the Storm are faster and more dangerous than before. There is now a delay of 20 seconds after being revived where players no longer drop collected Plunder. Additional enemies now spawn at Witherbark Village, the wild area northeast of Go’Shek Farm, and the wild area between Witherbark Village and Boulderfist Hall. Fixed an issue where swapping back to default sword and gun appearances were not saving correctly. Fixed an issue so that now, picking up an additional rank 2 spell while the same rank 2 spell is equipped properly grants the rank 4 version of the spell. The Captain’s Orders quest “X Marks the Spot” now requires 1 item to be picked up (was 2 items).

Well that didn't take long! We found out someone had broken the 700,000 Plunder milestone yesterday evening, and we're already done with the full amount now! Soularpower_ managed to grind it out a couple of hours ago in duos, and grabbed the Plunderkind achievement, so huge congratulations! It's been a week and a day since the event was released, and despite there being plenty of Plunder drop buffs since then it's still great to see someone get it all done already.

Unsurprisingly, the first thing Soularpower_ after reaching that goal was... play more Plunderstorm! He's actually still at it if now you want to check the stream out.

Here's our first post-patch look at the Mythic+ log rankings. While the patch didn't really touch any of the DPS or tank specs, there's still some movement there, especially in the raw DPS chart. Healers got some solid changes in the patch, and the definitely had an effect.
      Warcraft Logs Points
The below logs are based on POINTS, and not actual damage or healing, meaning they log the timed completion for the specs, with higher keys getting more points, obviously. The time in which the dungeon is completed is also a factor, but a much, much smaller one, as it grants very few points if you do it significantly faster than just any in-time completion. We're also using the Normalized Aggregate Scores numbers, for clarity, meaning the top spec is marked as 100 and then the rest are ranked in relation to that peak point.
      All Keys
      95th percentile DPS
The top percentiles are extremely stable, which makes sense since the patch didn't really bring any significant changes for DPS specs. We have to go down to number 7 to see the first bit of movement, as Destruction moves two up, leaving its fellow Warlock down in 9th, as Arms gets between them, gaining 3 spots. Havoc closes out the top 10 three down, and right behind it we find the newly buffed Elemental moving three up. While Augmentation is being properly calculated, we still find an Evoker in the bottom 3, as Devastation drops one down and takes Marksmanship's place.

Mythic+ All Keys 95th Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      All Percentiles
It took Shadow a little longer to get into the top in the generalist bracket, as we find it in 3rd now, pushing Outlaw down one. Balance also moves up, 2 spots into 6th, as it and Arms take advantage of Havoc's fall. The Demon Hunter finds itself 3 down in 9th, while Fury remains stable at the very end of the top 10.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Raw DPS U.GG DPS Rankings
U.gg's rankings are based on actual DPS taken from Warcraft Logs data, focusing on the top players and span the past two weeks.
While Outlaw remains at the top, pretty much everything's changing beneath it. Shadow and Retribution joined forces and moved two up together, breaking into the top 3. Fire is also on the rise, gaining 3 spots, and right behind it we find another big leaper, as Arms moves a whopping 5 spots up.
Mythic+ All Keystone DPS rankings by u.gg.

      All Percentiles Tank (Points)
There's actually some solid movement here, as we see Paladin take 2nd away from DK and Druid take Monk down, with Warrior remaining in last place and DH being far ahead of the pack.
Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.
      Healer (Points)
Healers had some significant changes with the patch, but it hasn't stopped Monk from remaining at the top. Druid moves into 2nd, taking Discipline Priest down a peg, and it seems the Holy Priest patch reworks helped it out, as it gains a spot in 4th.

Mythic+ All Keys All Percentile Data by Warcraft Logs.

For even more in-depth data for each individual key head on over to Warcraft Logs and u.gg. And if you're interested in more info on the specs themselves you can always check out our class guides, as well as our Mythic+ guides and Mythic+ tier list.

In Dragonflight Season 4, Awakened/Fated raids will be on a weekly rotation.
Upon accessing the Adventure Guide and navigating to the Raids section, you'll notice a green gem icon beside the raid that's Awakened for the current week.

When a raid is Awakened, bosses are more powerful and loot drops are upgraded to a higher item level. The upcoming season revisits the Fated system introduced in Shadowlands Season 4.

We've already taken a look at all the items coming to the Trading Post next month, as the Season 4 PTR revealed them, but now let's see them in movement as well! MrGM has detailed everything coming in April, from the awesome Dreadwake mount to a pretty cool polearm, some new capes, and all the other pirate-themed items. Let's take a look.

If you'd rather just scroll through some images, you can head on to our original post here.
