Fist of Fury usage

5 posts in this topic

As I understand RSK has the highest priority, and the next is FOF assuming ur maintaining ur 3 stacks, so for is basically only to be used when rsk is on cd plus y can actually channel it leading to it being actually not that used was wondering if say I had only 2sec to RSK coming off cd would it be better to just BOkick jab and rsk ,than bothering using for , personally for is like one of the iconic wibdwalker skills and still so underused , really seems like a terrible design as of now

If the RSK debuff is already on the target and not in danger of falling off during FOF, you have your 3 stacks of TP, AND you have your BOK DoT on your current target, use FOF. I generally use it on trash pulls in Heroics when I go in as DPS because it's 5 seconds of stun (helping the tank keep free of some damage). I also use it on bosses (with the same conditions) because on single targets, the damage is very good (58k+ crits, and I have had all 5 strikes crit). Basically, I treat it as a chi dump as long as I've used my other abilities correctly.

You also have to weigh the risk of needing to stop the FoF early due to boss movement, mechanics, etc. After DPS-ing a few bosses down in Heart of Fear last night, I can see that maybe the second boss and 1-2 pieces of the first boss offer a lot of opportunity to use FoF to its fullest extent. The incoming changes to TP stacks will be a huge help in freeing time to use this more often.

After clearing HoF normal last week while Windwalking, I noticed that many of the fights are not conducive to FoF usage. Picked up a couple of tips along the way though:

1) Vizier has a massive hit box, and using FoF immediately after an attenuation or as a way of stunning MC-ed players (along with Leg Sweep) has been helpful

2) You're far better off sticking on Garalon's body rather than his legs as moving from leg to leg, while easy for a monk, results in very limited FoF use. I opted to stick on the body, but move into Weak Zones and cleave FoF on the leg & boss when it was convenient.

3) Ambershaper is generally very bad for FoF, but using it to cleave the construct and boss in P1 as well as the construct and monstrosity in P2 has been working well.

4) Most uniquely, offer to split yourself from the other melee on Empress P2, and spec Leg Sweep to use FoF stun and Sweep to massively cut down on the second tank's dmg intake. In 10m normal we put me and the OT on one side, and the rest of the raid killing the other side, and performance/survivability increased dramatically.

Hope that helps anyone in HoF!

      Yo everyone

I started running HC Nighthold resently, and my damage is sub par. Also was in NHC. I just can't figure out completely why.

A small thing I do know, sometimes movement is a bit too tricky for me. Losing stacks because of that makes me want to slam my head on the table.

I use, if I remember right, the "rotation" as given on icy-veins.
      Here my Armory
      https://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/Die%20Aldor/Railong/simple
      Here some Logs

      https://www.warcraftlogs.com/guilds/userreportslist/466658/

Another thing is, sometimes I don't relize a button press of my didn't register and I use the same skill twice.... Is there an add on that prevents me from doing so? I also keep forgeting that activation SEF/Elixir isnt considered an offensive move on its own.
But even if I don't mess up movement and combo stacks, My dps in raids sucks. Dummies in Orderhall avg 518k. HC NH AVG on bosses 398k  :| Simcraft tells me I SHOULD be able to do 648k

I am espacially having Problems with that god forsaken #&%?$ Botanist I don't know if we allready did in with those logs, afer 4 hours of wiping yesterday I didn't feel like uploading them.

My problems with Botanist, especially if the tanks decide to kite him every time the black soup comes on the ground, and when I am fixated by one of the adds:

Rolling out of harms way, trying not to land in the sunburst thing, looking if tank went the way I would have moved to the called location, Lighting to keep the stacks up, roll/tigers lust in, want to resume clobbering that flower sniffer, tank 2 spots of tank 1 and it runs out of melee range and is being "kited" out of sunburst, oh good Chi Burst ist open Phase 1) Well OK, I healed some, but Tank 2 voked again and it ran out of my cast; Phase 2) either as in P1 or  BOOOM an orb spawned right into it.
      tl;dr version with Questions:
Unable to keep right distance to targeted mob due tank kiting, how to change this movement problem on my part
Keeping the god damn mob in fron of me, without hitting mobs I should not.
Staying away from Plants without losing stacks

Okay so I'm new to monks, I used my legion 100 boost on a monk.
Yesterday I ran Neltharion's Lair and Darkheart Thicket, and saw something on Skada that had me wandering.
I saw that my stagger damage and damage taken from auto attacks is almost the same, even if I'm using purifying brew. Now, the question is:
Should I be taking more damage from stagger, even if I'm using purifying brew, or should I be taking more damage from autos? Does it matter that much if I'm thinking on tanking for mythic+, heroic raiding?
(Idk if this is a dumb question, I'm just a 102 monk wanting to learn how to tank correctly)

      Hello,
Adelante is currently recruiting ranged DPS, however, all competent players will be considered.  We are a Horde guild on Arthas and our current progression is 3/10M NH, 7/7M EN and 3/3H TOV.  As far as classes go we do not have a Moonkin, Mage, Feral Druid, or any type of Monk; in addition, we would like to acquire a second Shadow Priest or Demon Hunter. We only raid two nights a week, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM Eastern.  Thursday is not considered a raid night, but we will often clear Heroic and Normal on this evening for AP and it is not required.
From you, we would expect 100% attendance during your trial period; after that, if you cannot make a raid or will be late it is mandatory to keep the raid leader updated.  In order to continue making good progression while raiding only two nights a week, we expect that you know your class inside-out and will research any bosses you are unfamiliar with prior to raids.
If you are interested, please PM me (violentravi#1826) or recruiting officer Sepsis (tuxedomask#1712) in game.  However, if you have time (which goes a long way) for us to give you a real evaluation there is a short forum to fill out linked on our discord: https://discord.gg/JMVuYRW

      Thank you for your consideration
      Xoxo

I would like to pose a few questions and share some thoughts regarding the trinket Draught of Souls.
It seems that you should never use SoF and DoS at the same time since the clonens don't rage while you do.
How do I use DoS in the opener? It enhances ToD's dmg through Gale Burst but at the same time you are not able to make full use of SEF since you are unable to make any actions during the 3 secs of channeling. So do you delay the DoS use until after clones have gone or do you delay clones? I believe DoS does way more dmg during the Fel-Crazed Rage than the clones would in the 3 secs. But what about the remaining 5 secs. of ToD? Do you use SEF right after DoS and then Fists of Fury or Strike of the Windlord?
What buffs/stats applies to the DoS use effect? Does Hit Combo? Because then you would like to have it stacked to 8 before using DoS. And then it might be better to delay the trinket until after clones are gone losing the trinket dmg in Gale Burst...
After the first use how do you proceed? Just use it on CD (outside SEF) or line it up with anything interesting?

Looking forward to interesting input. Seems like the monks in the forum are laying low.
