Amirdrassil RWF Day 2: Four Bosses Down, Three World Firsts and a Split Summary

Recommended Posts

While the first day was fairly uneventful, the Amirdrassil RWF has made up for it in its second day. The top guilds still remained on course in their splits, but we did start seeing visitors to Mythic later in the day.

We did have some early arrivals to Mythic at the very start of the day, as Asian guild End Myth, playing on NA servers under the name  blue shoe, went and downed both Fyrakk Heroic and the first boss of Amirdrassil, Gnarlroot, on Mythic, grabbing themselves a couple of World Firsts! We didn't get to see the kills themselves, so here's a video of the World Second Mythic Gnarlroot kill by EU guild Honolulu:

That was about it for a LONG time, as no other guild entered Mythic for another 12+ hours! Meanwhile in splitsville, here's how a raid full of helpers looks and sounds like, as Liquid's Max leads them through it all:

And here's one of Echo's Smolderon splits that didn't quite go well, as all the top guilds were finding the Heroic difficulty a lot trickier with that many helpers:

We did see guilds trickle in to Mythic by the NA evening, but it was Instant Dollars who actually grabbed the World 3rd on Gnarlroot, after the morning kills from Asia and EU guilds. They decided to push on, however, and that's where things started to get interesting.

Instant Dollars would soon earn not one, but three World Firsts, as they burned through Amirdrassil faster than Fyrakk. We start with Igira the Cruel, which took 5 pulls and was the guild's very first World First ever! They had previously had a World 3rd on Rashok, and ended Aberrus in 7th overall.

The Council of Dreams was next, but for a minute there it was looking to be on a significantly higher difficulty level, and the guild was even considering maybe going for Volcoross the fire snake. But they very quickly figured it all out and the bosses went down after only 7 pulls, securing Instant Dollars another World First and 3/9 bosses cleared.

They had originally planned to only do 3 bosses, but since they were in already... The fire snake was next, and this one really took everyone by surprise, as it just... died. Immediately. On the very first pull.

Nobody expected that one, as I even stepped away from the live coverage for a few minutes and was pretty shocked when I came back. A snake of fiery disappointment indeed. You can check out our other post for the full raid compositions of the above kills, as well as extended videos.

Instant Dollars, now the owners of three World Firsts, decided to push on just a liiitle longer, since they had some spare time now that one boss just... wasn't. Luckily Larodar, Keeper of the Flame... kept the flame. They didn't spend too much time there, but we did get a 64% try to look at:

So, both a slow and fast day, but certainly not a bad one. The top guilds are still very much in splits mode, and they were faced with a fair amount of wipes, as Smolderon and Tindral proved to be challenging with a large raid of helpers, for all the guilds. None of them headed into Heroic Fyrakk splits yet, so we're not quite done with the prep work, and we'll be seeing more of it today. We might see some top guilds touch Mythic today, especially now that they know the first 4 bosses will be down in a few pulls. And if you're wondering how much splitting is actually going on, Liquid for example did 36 Normal splits on day 1 and today had 14 for both Smolderon and Tindral, which went quite a bit slower due to the higher difficulty.

As always, for live coverage head on over to Raider.IO.

We're looking at how many raid bosses each World of Warcraft expansion has introduced.
This chart, created by Reddit user throwaway4201251315, lays out the count of raid bosses across all WoW expansions, including Dragonflight.

The chart's fine details are hard to make out, but it's clear that the original Vanilla version launched with the highest number of raid bosses (about 55-60), whereas Dragonflight had the fewest (around 25-30), a figure similar to what we saw in Cataclysm. Notably, Blizzard's decision to skip .3 patches and the introduction of Fated Raids have contributed to a declining trend in the number of raid bosses in both Shadowlands and Dragonflight.
It seems that players generally prefer raids with 8-9 bosses, finding larger raids like Ny'alotha and Sepulcher to be exhausting.

Collecting mounts really has become as much of a part of WoW as raiding, dungeons, questing and PvP at this point, as players constantly want more and more. Today we're taking a look at another hirumaredx video, this time focusing on the 10 rarest mounts players can still obtain today!
While I'm sure this list will be disputed, it's still fun to see what could be considered some of the most rare rides on Azeroth, especially if you happen to own one already! The list is based off of both drop chances and actual difficulty to obtain, as the first one is basically a 100% "drop", but will take a long time to get.

The axe-wielding, tree-burning dragon has a sense of humor, as he will laugh at anyone that dies to his fire during the raid encounter (and you get an achievement if you didn't get it before!
The Still Standing in the Fire achievement came along with patch 10.1 and Fyrakk Assaults. It was a little tricky to get as you had to find where to stand and die to the fire, which didn't really 1-shot you. Luckily with 10.2, it got a whole lot easier (well, for raiders anyway). The achievement is named after the original, where Deathwing had to kill you either during the Dragon Soul raid or when he was breathing all over Azeroth.
As spotted by ah_kooky_kat, dying to Fyrakk in the raid also triggers the achievement, and he still laughs at you!

The very old-school WeakAura in the screenshot also got a lot of attention the the thread below.
