Pictomancer: The New Magical Ranged DPS Job in Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail

Recommended Posts

Pictomancer.jpg

Everything you need to know about the new job inspired by Final Fantasy VI, that lets you draw to fight your enemies, as well as new details about the second limited job coming with Dawntrail!

Final Fantasy XIV welcomes its brand-new job! The upcoming expansion, Dawntrail, will feature two new jobs: a melee DPS, Viper, which was revealed previously, and a magical ranged DPS that was revealed today: the Pictomancer!

Check out the Pictomancer trailer below:

We can observe Krile, who we have never seen fighting before, and who has been trying very hard to master this brand-new role!

The Pictomancer is inspired by Final Fantasy VI, where we first saw this job with Relm Arrowny. She was able to sketch enemies. However, Final Fantasy XIV's Pictomancer will possess a wider range of abilities: not only will you be able to draw your enemies, but also any creatures, weapons, and even landscapes!

This job will be wearing the Casting Gear, and wielding a Brush as a weapon! There is no required class, you can pick up Pictomancer as soon as you reach Dawntrail. It starts at level 80, and the location for the job quest will be in Gridania.

The Pictomancer concentrates Aether in their brush to release their power by drawing pictures, allowing them to have a large variety of attacking abilities and spells, as well as instant cast abilities, and buffs for the entire party. It will not be as attack-focused as the Black Mage, but will also not be a complete support job. The combat animations will make it look like you are really drawing. Furthermore, it is interesting to note that the Pictomancer does not have any raise ability.

You will not be able to revive other players with this job

It's interesting to note that the German name for Pictomancer was changed from Duplikant in FFVI to Piktomant, because the job no longer simply duplicates enemies.

The Pictomancer is expected to be a popular choice among fans of Final Fantasy XIV, especially those who enjoy creative and artistic gameplay. It looks extremely fun and colorful, and we are eager to try it out!

As a little addition, it is also important to note that a new limited job has been announced, coming in late 7.x. We only know the name so far: Beastmaster. It will be similar to Blue Mage and possess some sort of collection system. We will update you with more details on this new limited job, as soon as more information is available!

Both, the Pictomancer as well as the new limited job, Beastmaster, are a unique and exciting addition to the Final Fantasy XIV universe.

Inspired by the classic Final Fantasy VI, the Pictomancer offers a creative and colorful way to unleash your magical power by drawing pictures. Final Fantasy XIV continues to surprise and delight us with its innovative and diverse content, and we have plenty more information to share with you!

Yoshi-P revealed plans at Gamescom 2024 for more challenging content in FFXIV, including a new raid in the upcoming Dawntrail patch and hints of a 24-Man Savage Raid.
During Gamescom 2024, PCGames.com interviewed Naoki Yoshida, who revealed that he plans to make combat more difficult. Dawntrail has already experienced big improvements in that regard, with more distinct mechanics and designs, and Yoshi-P hopes to keep that momentum going in the future.
The upcoming patch of FFXIV will include the Dawntrail Alliance Raid, and Yoshi-P has also mentioned a 24-player Savage Raid! His plan is to continuously create more diverse dungeons and raids, to always challenge players with new mechanics, and to force us to develop new fighting strategies.
The upcoming alliance raid will have standard difficulty, but Yoshi-P is convinced that groups will wipe at least three times on their first run! The idea was not to make it harder, but rather to give a more engaging experience for raiders.
Not much was mentioned about the savage version, although he did suggest that the boss will be completely different. So, potentially entirely separate content? It is also possible that the savage alliance raid will be linked to a new instance similar to Bozja, which would explain the boss being different from the actual normal alliance raid.
Further details about this will be delivered soon, as both the normal Alliance raid and the savage one will release with 7.1! This patch will also welcome the new Ultimate Raid!
