Eleventh Hour Games have released the first in a series of behind-the-scenes Blog Posts! Learn more about the Lead Composer, and how the most iconic Last Epoch Theme Songs were created!
Music is a big part of Last Epoch, and the game features many amazing and iconic songs! Eleventh Hour Games have decided to share more about their Lead Composer, Erik Desiderio, and how the most iconic Last Epoch songs were created!
You can have a first look at the Keeper's Camp Theme:
Initially working on numerous film and TV projects, Erik Desiderio long aspired to compose for games. After a chance encounter he was able to make music for an Adventure Time Virtual Reality game. His career in game music was jumpstarted after he gave a talk at the Game Developer's Convention.
Here is an overview of the information shared during the interview:
Mastery of New Instruments for Last Epoch
For the soundtrack of Last Epoch, the composer expanded his instrumental repertoire, learning the lute and tagelharpa to evoke an ancient, archaic feeling. This added depth to the game's music, creating a richly immersive auditory experience.
The Perfect Vocal Fit
Finding the right vocalist was crucial for the Last Epoch soundtrack. Ffion, discovered through the magic of YouTube, stood out with her evocative and otherworldly voice. Her album in Old Norse, with impeccable pronunciation, made her the ideal choice for the project.
Incorporating Old Norse
Old Norse was chosen for its ancient, forgotten feel and gritty sound, fitting perfectly with the Last Epoch landscape. Its powerful words and strong drive added an epic quality to the game's main theme and other tracks.
Listen at the wonderful Monolith Theme:
Composing for Harbingers and Aberroth
Embracing the challenge of Harbingers and Aberroth, the two new inclusions, the composer created distinct musical themes for each. The Brute Harbinger's theme features a deep male choir, while the Agile Harbinger’s music is faster with violins. For Aberroth, the music transitions through different eras of the game, matching the escalating intensity of the battle.
Mastering and Finalizing Tracks
Mastering involves assembling, editing, balancing, and processing the music to ensure it loops and reacts perfectly to the player's actions. A track is considered finished when it gives the composer chills and transports the audience to another place and time, which is exactly the case with last Epoch's Music.

Have a look at our brand new Paladin Reen's Skeleton Slayer build created to deal with the upcoming Imperial Uprising Event!
The Imperial Uprising Event will kick off in less than 1 hour and will be ungoing until October 20th, 2024.
During the event, you will see an increased spawn rate of Undead enemies. Anyone who participates in killing those undead enemies will be rewarded with a special cosmetic item.
To help you deal with the increased amount of Skeletons, our build writer Ghazzy has prepared a specific Sentinel build that was made to deal with the increased spawn rate of Undead, but also does a fantastic job of eliminating Void enemies as well.
The Paladin Reen's Skeleton Slayer Build has the following advantages:
Extremely high ignite and critical damage Multiple self-healing options Immunity while using traversal skills Zero requirement to track Mana usage The thought behind this build was to create something fun and fast for the upcoming Imperial Uprising event. Paladin, alongside it's access to Healing Hands, seemed like the perfect choice for this goal. By stacking immense amounts of Ignite, Critical Multiplier, and Attack Speed, you will easily slash through enemies.
You can also find Ghazzy on his Twitch Channel, where he will be streaming the event as a Void-Based Meteor Cast-on-Crit Sorcerer!
