FFXIV - Dawntrail: New Disciple of the Land and Hand Abilities Revealed!

Combat jobs are not the only ones receiving updates and new abilities! The Disciple of Hand and Land also gets an upgrade with Dawntrail! Here is everything you need to know!

With the release of Dawntrail, Crafters and Gatherers will also receive the new Level 100 cap, as well as several ability updates and new additions!

First of all, let's go over the new additions for the Disciples of Land, Miner and Botanist:

  • Priming Touch: Doubles the chance your next use of Meticulous Prospector will not affect integrity.
    Does not affect increased chance from gathering point bonuses or Collector's High Standard.
  • Revisit: After exhausting a gathering point's resources, occasionally restores all integrity and gathering attempts.
    GP is also fully restored, but all gatherer effects expire.
    Effect cannot be triggered by certain gathering points such as those found in levequests.
  • Collector's High Standard: Occasionally upgrades the effect of Collector's Standard to Collector's High Standard, guaranteeing Brazen Prospector increases collectability with maximum effectiveness.
    Chance Meticulous Prospector does not affect integrity is increased by 40%.

For the other Disciple of Land, Fisher, the following has been added:

  • Rest: Abandons fishing but keeps your equipment at the ready.
  • Spareful Hand: Stores certain large-sized fish as swimbait for later use.
    Swimbait may be selected for use as bait so long as you remain at your present fishing spot.
    Swimbait may be used even after actions that cancel mooching opportunity.
    Cannot be executed while under the effect of Surface Slap or Identical Cast.
  • Big-game Fishing: Increases the chance the next large-sized fish caught will be an especially large specimen.
    Chance of landing an especially large specimen increases based on your perception rating.
    Angler's Art Cost: 2
    Cancels current mooching opportunity.
  • Ambitious Lure: Attracts large-sized fish and increases your chances of landing one. Occasionally guarantees you will land a large-sized fish.
    Can be used up to 3 times while fishing, each use increasing the effectiveness and GP cost.
    May also attract rare species of fish. Can also be used with fish caught using Powerful Hookset.
    First Use: 10 GP
    Second Use: 20 GP
    Third Use: 30 GP
  • Modest Lure: Attracts small-sized fish and increases your chances of landing one. Occasionally guarantees you will land a small-sized fish.
    Can be used up to 3 times while fishing, each use increasing the effectiveness and GP cost.
    May also attract rare species of fish. Can also be used with fish caught using Precision Hookset.
    First Use: 10 GP
    Second Use: 20 GP
    Third Use: 30 GP
  • Fisher Instinct: While under the effect of Fisher's Intuition or Spearfisher's Intuition, resets the effect duration when catching certain fish.
    Chance to trigger this effect differs between fish.

Next, let's have a look at which existing abilities have been updated for the Disciples of Hand:

  • Hasty Touch: Increases quality and requires no CP.
    Efficiency: 100%
    Success Rate: 60%
    Additional Effect: Grants Expedience for 1 step
  • Advanced Touch: Increases quality.
    Efficiency: 150%
    Success Rate: 100%
    Combo Action: Standard Touch or Observe
    Combo Bonus: CP cost reduced to 18
  • Reflect: Increases quality.
    Efficiency: 300%
    Success Rate: 100%
    Additional Effect: Increases Inner Quiet stack by one (up to 10)
    Available only on the first step.
  • Delicate Synthesis: Increases both progress and quality.
    Synthesis Action Efficiency: 150%
    Touch Action Efficiency: 100%
    Success Rate: 100%

Disciples of Hand did not only receive updates, but also several new additions:

  • Refined Touch: Increases quality.
    Efficiency: 100%
    Success Rate: 100%
    Combo Action: Basic Touch
    Combo Bonus: Increases Inner Quiet stack by one (up to 10)
  • Daring Touch: Increases quality and requires no CP.
    Efficiency: 150%
    Success Rate: 60%
    Can only be executed while under the effect of Expedience.
    ※This action cannot be assigned to a hotbar.
  • Immaculate Mend: Restores all item durability.
  • Trained Perfection: Reduces durability loss of next action to 0.
    Can only be used once per synthesis.
  • Quick Innovation (This skill is obtainable through a Completing a Quest): 
    Specialist Action
    Grants Innovation for 1 turn.
    Cannot be executed while under the effect of Innovation.
    A crafter's delineation is used upon execution.
    Can only be used once per synthesis.
    This action does not increase step count.
  • Delicate Synthesis Mastery: Efficiency is increased to 150%.
  • Expedience: Grants Expedience for 1 step upon using Hasty Touch.
    Expedience Effect: Upgrades Hasty Touch to Daring Touch.

      MMORPG fans, get ready! WoW and FFXIV players are teaming up for a charity event with in-game battles, community races, and more! Learn all about it, and how you can participate!
      The World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV communities are coming together for an epic crossover charity event in support of the American Heart Association's AHA LIIVE campaign. This international initiative aims to raise awareness about heart health, heart disease, stroke prevention, and CPR training.

      Event Overview
      From February 24 to February 28, 2025, WoW and FFXIV players will face off in a friendly rivalry, hosting a variety of exciting in-game events to encourage donations. The main event will go down on February 28 at 6 PM EST with a massive raid night, where players will have to clear difficult raid content in both games!
      How it Works
      Any Wow or FF creator can participate. You will be divided into two teams: one for World of Warcraft Creators and another for Final Fantasy XIV Creators. Progress will be tracked separately, allowing both communities to see how their donations are doing, and can encourage each other to donate more.
      Note that this event is not limited to FFXIV: creators from any Final Fantasy title are welcome to participate!
      Exciting In-Game Events
      Throughout the few days, both communities will host a variety of engaging activities, including:
      Transmog/Glamour Contests: Show off your best outfits and fashion sense! Scavenger Hunts & Riddles: Solve puzzles and uncover hidden treasures. Hide and Seek: Find hidden players across the two game worlds. Dating Game Shows: A fun and unique take on in-game matchmaking. Music RP Venues & Parties: Celebrate with community DJs and musicians, dressed in heart-themed outfits for Heart Month! Among Us-Style Raids: Identify imposters during alliance raids in FFXIV or LFR/Normal raids in WoW. Help players clear content: the last day, content creators will be helping their communities clear and learn the content of their choice!
      Prizes and Giveaways
      The event organizers are currently in talks with SecretLab and other sponsors to secure giveaways based on fundraising milestones. Blizzard has already agreed to provide keys for The War Within expansion, and Square Enix may also contribute rewards.
      In addition, in-game prizes like gil and gold can be awarded to winners of various events.
      If you have connections with brands or partnerships that would like to contribute, please reach out to the event organizer on the Event Discord bellow! (Note: Sponsorships cannot be food or beverage-related but can include peripherals, PC hardware, Displate, etc.)

      "Heart disease is the No.1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. We need your help to create a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.       The FFXIV Patch 7.2 Live Letter has revealed an exciting new Field Operations zone: Occult Crescent! Learn more about it, and what it will bring to the game!
      A brand New Field Operation will be added to the game during patch 7.2 of Final Fantasy XIV! This zone is called Occult Crescent. 
      Set in the treacherous waters of Shades' Triangle, this mystical isle is packed with high-stakes battles, exploration, and an all-new Phantom Job system.

      What Awaits you in Occult Crescent?
      Mysterious New Zone: Navigate unmapped terrain and uncover hidden secrets. Intense Combat: Team up in small parties for successive battles across the island. Large-Scale Boss Fights: Face off against strong enemies in challenging Boss encounters. Massive 48-Player Raid: Test your strength in a brand-new raid experience. Knowledge Level System: Progression inside Occult Crescent will be displayed as Knowledge Experience, which will affect your battle outcomes. Phantom Jobs System: Unlock unique combat abilities exclusive to the zone.
      Phantom Jobs Include:
      Monk Bard Geomancer Ranger Berserker Time Mage Chemist Cannoneer
      In order to have access and participate in the Occult Crescent content, you will need a Disciple of War or Magic at Level 100.
      It will most likely release only during Patch 7.2 part 2, however no specific date has been given yet. More details about Occult Crescent will be revealed in upcoming Live Letters, so stay tuned!

      The latest Live Letter has revealed more information about the upcoming Cosmic Exploration: your new playground for Crafters and Gatherers! Learn more about it here!
      Final Fantasy XIV is expanding its horizons—literally! Cosmic Exploration is an upcoming PvE co-op experience designed specifically for Crafters and Gatherers, allowing players to work together to explore and develop planets across the cosmos.

      What We Know So Far:
      Co-op Gameplay: Team up with players from your World to explore new planets. A New Star in Every Patch: Each major update in Patch 7.x will introduce a new planet to discover. Collaborative Development: Complete missions and events to help nurture and shape these planets. Release Window: Expected to arrive in Patch 7.2 Part 2, with more details in the next Live Letter. Cosmic Exploration is going to be one of FFXIV’ most ambitious non-combat activities for the Dawntrail Expansion, providing gatherers and crafters with long-term, evolving content, similar to the Ishgard Restoration.

      Today's Live Letter has revealed a lot about upcoming Patch 7.2: Seekers of Eternity, which will release late March 2025!

      You can expect a lot of new content during Patch 7.2 Seekers of Eternity:

      Final Fantasy XIV is celebrating the two-channel dye system with a screenshot sweepstakes! Learn more about how to participate, and what rewards you can get!
      Dawntrail introduced the a new dying system for your Glamour items: the two-channel dye. This allows you to change multiple colors on a single piece of gear!
      In order to see how creative players can become with this new system, Final Fantasy XIV is holding a screenshot sweepstake around this theme!
