Questions regarding Balance dps

Recommended Posts

1) Typically my dots fall off around 20-40 energy away from the new eclipse state. This means that my uptime suffers if I wait for eclipse before reapplying. I understand that with more crit this may not be a problem, but as it is I'm just not critting enough to extend my dots with any real regularity. Should I A) reapply at least the eclipsed dot before leave an ecplise state (if not both dots) or should I Posted Image simply reapply dots every eclipse state and let dots fall for a couple globals.

2) If applying both dots simultaneously, should I apply the eclisped dot first even though the non-eclipsed dot gets to benefit from LS? Does it even make a big difference?

3) For aoe situations where I know the adds will survive long enough to last through an entire dot duration, should I only apply eclipsed dot then hurricane/astral storm? Or is applying both dots the better method?

I'm pretty new to boomkins, so any help would be appretiated.

Déjà vu?

See if this thread answers your question.

Thanks! I should have searched the forum better, so I apologize. That answered most of my questions. Although I still don't understand how the eclipsed DoT is better done first if you reapply both at once (since the eclisped DoT would benefit from LS if applied second).

Also, I have a quick question about gearing. According to the guide you want to try to hit haste soft caps if possible, but I've noticed most top boomkins are forgoing the first haste soft cap (5274 or something like that) and just going for higher crit. What I've noticed for myself is that it's fairly difficult to hit the haste softcap without making intellect concessions in gemming (and that's with 472 gear), it also results in pretty low crit. I'm wondering if higher crit and spell power simply outweighs the benefit of going for the softcap, especially since you can go far below the softcap if you decide not to get it, and this allows you to get pretty high crit rating (since haste is not very beneficial if not reaching softcap).

Refresh the eclipsed DOT to avoid clipping the previous eclipsed DOT, granted you have extended it that long :) Lets assume you open up on a target dummy, get in Lunar, double DOT and start moving towards Solar. Lets assume aswell that, every Starfire you cast is a crit, extending your Moonfire. That way when you enter Solar, you'd still have the eclipsed Moonfire running ---> apply Sunfire :P Ofcourse, atm this doesn't apply in most cases, but still, its a good practise for latter gear levels :)

I'm currently in the 474 ilevel range and I've hit the first cap (5273). In WrathCalcs my current gear setup provides more DPS than what I had earlier and, well, more haste would always mean faster eclipse cycles. I've not had the chance to test it further but I think you should try it for yourself if you can reach it and see how it goes for you :)

      Hi Team
I am recently returning from a few years away from the game and I have decided to go back to my much loved main throughout wrath, the feral druid. I have always been a cut above the rest and managed to be top dps all through wrath.
I was reading your guide and noticed in the talents you don't take savage roar. Can you explain the match behind this as to me it seems like the more viable option.

Enter Eclipse Apply or maintain your Moonfire, Sunfire, and Stellar Flare (if talented) Keep Celestial Alignment / Incarnation: Chosen of Elune (if talented) on cooldown Cast Convoke the Spirits when you have less than 50 Astral Power. Try to pair with your other cooldowns but do not lose a use. Spend your Astral Power on Starsurge or Starfall on multi-target. Do not lose uses of Warrior of Elune, Force of Nature, or Fury of Elune (if talented). Cast the Eclipse-appropriate filler. Item 3 says to cast Celestial Alignment as a higher priority than (presumably that means before you cast) Convoke the Spirits.
The subsection on Convoke the Spirits Optimization says "Generally, you will play around your Convoke and not your Celestial Alignment, as you almost never want to cast Celestial Alignment without Convoke up as well."
I'm not quite understanding how I'm supposed to prioritize Celestial Alignment in my rotation but not generally cast Celestial Alignment without Convoke up.
Unless Convoke is a special sort of channel, if you actually managed to cast Celestial Alignment during Convoke, wouldn't it interrupt the channeling of Convoke?
If I am supposed to cast Convoke and then cast Celestial Alignment as it's channeling, shouldn't the rotation guide have those reversed?
I'm sorry to be a noodge about accuracy here, but either I'm badly misunderstanding what looks like fairly simple instructions or the two elements of the instructions are inconsistent with one another.

Hello everyone! When i downloaded the recent shadowlands expansion, i noticed that my macros no longer worked =0. This is not a single target DPS  macro, this is a Help / Harm selective macro So i did some digging to find out what was goin on, An example of this would be : /cast [help] Innervate ; [harm] Entangling Roots ; Innervate.  This macro utilizes one button for a dual purpose. if i am targeted on friend i innervate them while if i and targeting a opponent it would root them in place. This structure is now broken but has also made things easier in most cases, After doing some digging i discovered some new macros and the new format. Some examples of the new way to write this would be :
       #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]innervate
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Entangling Roots
      #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]Regrowth
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Wrath
      #showtooltip
      /cast [harm,nodead][@target,harm,nodead]Moonfire
      /cast [help,nodead][@target,help,nodead]Rejuvenation
      #showtooltip
      /cast [help,nodead][help,nodead]Wild Growth
      /cast [harm,nodead][harm,nodead]Entangling Roots
This is what they call a fall through macro, If the first line of code is not available because of a cooldown or if the Help or Harm selection, it will fall through to the next line of code. This works especially well for balance druids, shaman, and hybrid healing classes that use a ton of buttons. You can cut the amount of keys you need press in half which saves space and prevents accidentally pressings the wrong button. I like to pair my spells by the time it takes to cast, Instant casts with instant casts. They also introduces a mouse over macro for heals and rebuffs which is really good for world PVP. One of the better macros iv'e seen is a mouse over Rebirth :
       #showtooltip Rebirth
      /cast [@mouseover,help]Rebirth;Rebirth
      #showtooltip Remove Corruption
      /cast [target=mouseover,help,nodead][target=target] Remove Corruption

If you are going to try and make your own macro, you should keep in mind
1: The Global Cool Down or GCD which is the time it takes between 2 casts and
2: Not all of your spells and trinkets share a GCD, so you are able to cast 2 or 3 spells at the exact same time as long as it doesn't share a GCD.
      I hope this helps!
