Feel like my DPS should be higher - UH DK

Exactly as the title suggests. I have been tuning and tweaking my rotation and I still cannot get where I think I should be. I am not doing TERRIBLE dps, but from everything I see, it can be higher.

Here is a log of my last butcher fight:

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/qHXZmfjJdtCKYa81#fight=5&type=damage-done&source=1

Even though we wiped on that fight, it was at 10% and my DPS stayed steady right at 18k up until then. Simcrafts I have run say I could be doing 21k. I died at 5:01 if that helps anyone.

I am following the rotation on the icy veins guide, my diseases have a 97%+ uptime, pet is transformed at all times possible, and my soul reaper is used on CD below 45%.

My stats are pretty poorly optimized right now, so it could be attributed to that, but simcraft still says 21k with my current gear.

Here is my armory link as well:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/lightbringer/Chillmurray/simple

Please pick everything apart! Criticize me! I want to do as much DPS as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Rotation looks good. Are you potting? What stat booster are you using? Are you well fed as well?

Also just FYI sims are almost impossible to hit, they are usually off by about 10%. So if it says you should be doing 21 and you are pulling 18 you are pretty close mang. Sims don't take into consideration boss mechanics and movement.

So for instance on the butcher there are times when he charges around, if you drop defile and he jumped out of it you see big dps loss at that instance. So in general I feel you are doing a pretty good job :D

Here's my log from last week that I'm comparing to yours to get an idea of where we have differences. The kill time is almost the same as the time on your log, so it should be a really good comparison. My dps isn't exactly rank 1 or anything, but it is about 1.5k higher than yours.

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/aQ4KmqcT3PfvbhLz#fight=23&type=casts&source=8

Stuff that looks good: You're using Defile pretty much on CD, your Soul Reaper usage is great. Disease uptimes are 98%+, your empowered ghoul uptime is solid, you're using your trinket on cooldown, and you actually have more scourge strikes and death coils than me in the same fight length.

Some things you could improve on: You only have 3 plague leech's, In the same length fight I had 8. Even if you have to refresh diseases with plague strike afterwards, plague leech is still at minimum 1 free rune every 25 secs. It looks like you potted at the start, but missed the pre-pot. having the second pot ready in execute range will make a huge difference. my average soul reaper hit is 5k higher than yours, At the time of my log I was about 650 ilvl, so I had you beat in gear by a little bit, but I'm willing to bet the second pot plays a big part in the difference.

Also multistrike. You actually got more casts off on most abilities than I did, more scourge strikes, more festering strikes, more death coils, but my average hits are higher because I'm getting way more multistrikes.

Thanks for the advice on everything! I always felt plague leech to be a little clunky so I am still trying to get used to it. I will try out a few things and update you!

Hi all,

I am also playing an UH DK and I feel my DPS is lacking a lot. This has never happened before when I used to raid in wotlk - in fact I was always top DPS and I even have a shadowmourne to show for it but I feel this expansion something weird is going on, i'm just hoping my 3 years break from WoW didn't make me too rusty.

We ran a normal and heroic yesterday with my real life friend's guild and I am comparing my performance on Butcher (since this is a steady dps fight, more or less) on both normal and heroic, and I'm just feeling confused about it.

On normal, I was ilvl 636 and I managed 18.1k DPS

On heroic, I was ilvl 641 (gotten some upgrades during normal) and I managed a staggering 16.7k DPS

Log from normal: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/ahjMwFtx8d6DqvWL#type=damage-done&fight=6&source=69

Log from heroic: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/ahjMwFtx8d6DqvWL#type=damage-done&fight=22&source=69

Here is my armory: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/lightbringer/Gravix/simple(note that I had a ilvl 636 weap at the time of the logs but the rest was the same)

Can you please help me find what is going wrong? I am doing the rotation as advised on this website and the only thing I can admit is that I am not pre-potting but my numbers are always constantly low even though I'd like to think I'm doing everything right.

Is this a problem of gear? I know my trinkets suck, but any pointers would be more than welcome.

Why do you have a mastery enchant on your cloak?

Only 5 soul reapers appear to be really low. I had 16 on my most recent kill for a fight almost the same length (4:39). Disease uptime could also be bit better. You could have also gotten off one more defile for that fight duration.

As far as I know, mastery and multistrike are equally good so my cloak enchant isn't the problem.

you are right, I should have probably pulled off more soul reapers towards the end, but throughout the fight i'm checking the meter and i'm constantly doing low dps before the boss reaches the < 45% stage.

It could be something to do with my rotation, so I will explain what I do.

---opening---

1. I open up with outbreak

2. 2x FS to get rid of the blood/frost runes

3. Defile on boss

4. SS spam until all runes depleted

---rotation---

1. Dark Transformation if available

2. Death Coil if DT isn't up

3. Defile if it is up

4. 2x FS to get rid of blood/frost runes

5. SS spam

---situational---

1. Plague Leech when Outbreak is up

2. Outbreak

3. back to normal rotation

Your feedback is appreciated and please point up if i'm doing something incorrectly.

You should be opening with garg+any DPS cooldowns you may have(racials or trinkets), followed by Defile. Then you'll want to get your diseases on and use FS to get rid of your Blood/Frost runes. At that point you can Death Coil a couple times and pop Empower Rune Weapon to use on Scourge Strikes. Defile also takes priority over your Dark Trans. Soul Reaper is the real key to damage though. On most of my logs for Butcher, Soul Reaper is top damage.

Of course another thing is to save second pot and second garg for Lust around 30% when the boss hits enrage. Hope this helps.

Logs and armory if you feel like comparing yourself(was 643 ilvl in that pull), I died around 4:32 so lost a lot of SR damage.

There was a bug in simcraft where Soul Reaper was double dipping into mastery. This may have led to mastery being slightly overvalued. It has been fixed in the latest version.

Also, from my personal experience, Butcher has been a meh fight for me in terms of DPS. I suppose the AoE blood boil is so strong that without having an opportunity to use it on this fight on normal / heroic, the numbers are bit lacking. I see only 3 or 4 DKs in the top200 parses for this boss on heroic.

Omg, i just went and downloaded the new simcraft and it makes a big difference. I have been going crazy trying to figure out where I was going so wrong that I was 20% under the sim. After downloading the new simcraft my numbers are at 92% of the simcraft numbers. I am very pleased with this considering the top DK on the butcher fight only got to 97% of the his simcraft numbers.

After tweaking my rotation a little bit more and getting into the habit of using plague leech on CD, my dps did go up from the 17.8k I posted earlier to 19.2k (Of a possible simcraft number of 21000).

I am still working at it, but I am please with my results so far!

      Mon 20:00-22:00 (optional Alt/Farm run)

What you can expect from us:
We aim to create a fair and motivating environment for progress. We won't scream at you for failing a mechanic but we will point it out and work with you to correct it so we can progress together. Loot will be distributed via RcLootcouncil as evenly as possible focusing on gearing the raid as a whole. We will respect you at all times. Progress is important to us but the atmosphere of the raids must be maintained a good personality and a sense of humor is a must.

      What we expect from you:
During your trial period we will be looking at your mastery over your class. Your attendance and attitude during raids. Your awareness of boss fights and mechanics, along with your ability to adapt and learn.

Guild: Dawn of the Dead | http://www.dotd.org   Faction: Horde | Server: Zul'jin (PvE) | Timezone: EST   Current Progression: 7/9M Tomb of Sargeras | 10/10M Nighthold | 3/3M Trial of Valor | 7/7M Emerald Nightmare   We've been raiding max size raids continuously since WoW has been released and are the only guild to have done so here on Zul'jin. We have strong leadership, no drama, and plans to keep raiding for years to come. Unlike many guilds, we're not recruiting for the short term, and we don't over-recruit.   Website: www.dotd.org
Raid Times: Our schedule is 8-11 EST Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.   Needs: We are a small guild, and we expect high attendance. As such, we recruit people to raid, and desire people who can step in and contribute immediately. We don’t recruit people to sit around, so all spots are for raiders who can expect to be in most every raid.   We are currently looking to add skilled and reliable:   1 Healer
      High: Shadow Priest, Mage

*ALL exceptional applicants will be considered regardless of the class.   What we ask of you:   Effort: Not all applicants come from highly progressed guilds, and that’s okay, but it does mean that you need to be prepared. We recruit the player, not the gear, but we do ask that you have some current experience and be a minimum iLvl of 920. You need to have the best gear available to you, (BoE, Crafted) with gems and top end enchants. You also need to be able to display an understanding of your class mechanics, role in a raid, and ability to learn new fights.   Attitude: It’s a game. We play for fun. How you fit in with the guild is taken very seriously. We’re a bunch of mostly 18-30 guys and girls who have fun playing together. While we have a good time, we also know when it’s time to buckle down and work hard.   Skill: The best way to determine skill is to see you in a raid. Because we don’t wish to have anyone transfer that we’re not serious about, be able to express your knowledge of your class and why you’re an exceptional player who would be an asset and is worth a shot. Gear will come with time. Skill will not. Impress us with your knowledge of your class and gameplay mechanics. Feel free to share any logs, theorycrafting, or other work you've done.   Commitment: We make a commitment to you, and ask you to do the same to us. A raid takes a team of more than 20 individuals working together. We rely on you to show up to raids, research your class and new fights, respect your fellow players, and notify us when you are unavailable. You rely on us for gear, experience, and coordination. It's a large investment of our time to train and gear new players, and we ask the same investment on your part so that we can each benefit.   We have a variety of informational resources available to prospective applicants on our web site: http://www.dotd.org-- please refer to our "Applications" forum for detailed information. Also feel free to visit us on WoWProgresss for more information and kill videos! http://www.wowprogress.com/guild/us/...wn+of+the+Dead   Should you wish to speak to someone in-game, please don't hesitate to reach out to an officer directly, whisper Xanah (Xana#1662) or Jeare (Jeare#1759).   We look forward to hearing from you soon!

      Hi!
I would like to ask somethng about ice lance and other procs aswell.
To maximize dps, should you always try to get rid of Fingers of Frost procs with ice lances? And if you get flurry proc, do you want to get rid of ice lance procs before casting flurry + lance combo?
I am not sure how much icicles and maximizing their damage output before dumping them affects your damage.
      Thank you

      Hello everyone.

I've been playing hunter MM as my main for a while, but lately i've noticed that my DPS output might not be as high as it should. A couple of months ago, I tought it might be my ilvl or my mastery that was too low, but i've tried different builds and i still can't get closer to some other hunters I run into some ToS H pugs.

I'm actually sitting at 938 iLvl. Don't have many BiS, but my stats are kinda high. My weapon relics are bad(low ilvl, i'm still stuck with 915 relics), and I still didn't get any other good legendary besides the Soul of the Huntmaster.

So my question is: Am I doing something wrong or it's just my relics/trinkets that aren't very decent? I was happy when i get past the 1M dps mark, but now i'm stuck at that point, and I can't see to get past that.

      Here's my armory link: https://worldofwarcraft.com/pt-br/character/azralon/piccola

Hopefully you guys can help me out on this. Thanks!

<Cryogenic> - 4/9M - Recruiting all RDPS classes for an immediate raid spot to round out our 20m roster. Tues/Weds 7-11 SERVER. Discord/Flask/Food provided for raiders. 925++. Pst for more info!!!

The guild was founded by a group of friends with a mission, to progress through mythic raids without the toxic environment. The guild was formed halfway through EN and despite the late start we built a solid core of raiders and down 5/7M EN before the Nighthold was released. We ended up having to break up as soon as we cleared heroic Nighthold, but we are back with a vengance here on Stormrage now.

      CURRENT PROGRESSION:
      Emerald Nightmare -- 5/7M
      Trial of Valor -- 3/3H
      Nighthold -- 10/10H 5/10M (Guild break after Gul'dan kill)
      Tomb of Sargeras -- 9/9N 9/9H 4/9M
MOST RECENT KILL: MYTHIC SISTERS OF THE MOON

      LOOKING FOR:
We are currently looking for people that can commit to all raid days, who will show up prepared and not waste our time or their own time. We understand that real life happens, but we do ask that our raiders maintain at least 90% attendance and that can make sure they can raid without interruption. We don't have any strict attendance policies/punishments, however it is important for us to keep our progression as strong as possible, which relies heavily on raid wide attendance.

      RAID TIMES:
      Tuesdays: 7-11 Server (EST) Mythic/Progression
      Wednesdays: 7-11 Server (EST) Mythic/Progression
Thursday 8-11 Server (EST) Optional Heroic/Normal

We also often run old content (M EN/ToV/Nightbane/Nighthold) as well as constant M+ groups throughout the day. These runs are 100% optional.

      RECRUITMENT:
We are currently looking for all exceptional players to rebuild our raid team. We don't care about item level or prior experience. We want quality players to learn, grow, and progress with. We currently have a very strong core of raiders, but with attendance issues and people quitting wow, we are strongly shifting our focus on finding players that excel at their class/spec to round out the last few spots in our main roster.

      CURRENT NEED:
ALL DPS CLASSES - (ranged more so than melee)
      ALL EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS

      EXPECTATIONS:
We expect all raiders to come to raids prepared. This means:
      - Having the correct gems/enchants (200 gems)
      - Class knowledge
      - Raid preparation.
We only raid 8 hours a week, so it is imperative that we don't waste time. All underpreforming players, regardless of rank and class, will be benched until performance can be brought up to par for the current content. We are not interested in carrying anyone, and if you cannot perform raid mechanics, then we are not the guild for you. Cauldrons and food will be provided by the guild bank when available. Everyone in the guild is taken care of, and this is done primarily through donation by our members. Our guild is a small community and we all pitch in to get things done.

      LOOT SYSTEM:
As a guild we opt to run loot through a loot council that is run by the officers. Loot is distributed in a way that most benefits the raid team in terms of progression. Distributing loot factors are performance/attendance/role/rank (I.E. Trials are typically lower on loot priority. (Higher rank than takes priority over trial) Loot is always dished out in a way that is most beneficial to the guild is a whole, and is a completely transparent process to avoid drama. We use the add-on RClootcouncil for ease of distribution.

      PRIMARY CONTACT:
      Recruitment Officer - Riotzin (FrostyDog#155103)

      OTHER CONTACTS:
      Guild Master/Raid Leader - Dêv (CrispyD#1823)
      Lootmaster/Co-GM - Beanboss

Anyone listed can answer any further questions you may have pertaining to the guild as well as conduct your interview in our guild discord.
