Gorou Support Build

Gorou has a unique set of abilities that can really only benefit a particular style of gameplay. This focuses around buffing other teammates that use DEF as DMG scaling for their DPS, such as Noelle or Arataki Itto.

Talent Priority
  1. Elemental Skill
  2. Elemental Burst
  3. Normal Attack

Gorou's weapon selection is a challenge as he has no signature weapon, and the majority of the passive weapon skills don't necessarily benefit him. With that in mind, the Favonius Warbow is his best in slot, focusing on team support with particle generation. The listed alternative weapons have passive skills that can benefit his teammates, but can be inconsistent. While this limits Gorou in his gearing options, it cuts down on his investment and doesn't hurt his abilities.

As for artifacts, Gorou once again doesn't have strong choices, instead we focus on team wide benefits rather than artifacts that assist his abilities only. This once again presents the player with the benefit of a very low investment for this character, even his substat selection focuses primarily around Energy Recharge and stacking this as high as possible for his team. Gorou's Energy Recharge requirement averages around 225% - 250%, less if you are using the Favonius Warbow. This is easier for Gorou to find on his own compared to other characters as he can focus on ER with his artifact sub-stats. Maintaining his team buff as much as possible is critical to his gameplay so stacking ER until requirement is the best choice.

Defence can also be a useful stat for Gorou to focus on with Lapping Hound: Warm as Water (C4) to help increase his supportive potential as well as increasing the DMG of his Skill and Burst due to A Favor Repaid.

Combos and How to Play Gorou

Gorou is the definition of a support character, with his only purpose to buff his teammates. This makes Gorou's playstyle beyond simple. Swap to him to apply his Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst then swap to your main Geo damage dealer.

However, players should recognize the main difference between his Elemental Burst, Juuga: Forward Unto Victory and his Elemental Skill, Inuzaka All-Round Defense and how they are setup on the battlefield. Basically, his Elemental Skill is stationary and players must remain inside of its field, while his Elemental Burst moves with your active character.

4.

Gorou's Best Team Comps

Gorou functions best with Geo-based teams due to Inuzaka All-Round Defense granting his team the maximum amount of buffs with 3 Geo-based teammates. This will be our focus, adding in a main damager dealer to be played actively.

4.1.

Mono Geo Team

Main DPS Support Buffer Shielder
Arataki Itto Gorou Chiori Zhongli

This is a common meta build for Arataki Itto, being able to effectively utilize Geo Resonance and Gorou's elemental abilities. Having Zhongli's shields also means we can ignore the majority of the enemies' damage. This build follows the same pattern of characters putting buffs onto Itto and then letting Itto do all the work. This combination does require some more field time to stack up your buffs, using both Chiori's Tapestry buff and Gorou's banner buff.

4.2.

Noelle Hypercarry

Main DPS Sub DPS Support Support
Noelle Chiori Gorou Furina

This team is built to empower Noelle while she fights on-field, creating shields and healing for herself. Our main buffs come from Gorou's banner buffs and Chiori's Tapestry buff to boost Noelle's capabilities, then we add Furina into the mix which really pushes this build to the next level. Furina’s Elemental Burst, Let the People Rejoice, does a large AoE of Hydro damage based on her Max HP. Most importantly, it also awards 'Fanfare' points as your party member’s HP increases or decreases.

These 'Fanfare' points directly increase the DMG and Healing of all nearby party members, getting stronger and stronger as you gain more points. This fits perfectly for Noelle as she can fight while healing herself. This means that any damage/healing she takes will only make her more powerful. To play this team, you simply stack all your party’s Elemental Bursts leaving Noelle until the end and then fight on-field while staying inside the buffed area.

Gorou's Constellations

Gorou's gameplay only improves with each Constellation, however, none of them are required for using Gorou to his fullest. Lapping Hound: Warm as Water (C4) is quite attractive as it adds a healing element to his Burst ability.

# Name Explanation
C1 Rushing Hound: Swift as the Wind When characters (other than Gorou) within the AoE of Gorou's General's War Banner or General's Glory deal Geo DMG to opponents, the CD of Gorou's Inuzaka All-Round Defense is decreased by 2s. This effect can occur once every 10s.
C2 Sitting Hound: Steady as a Clock While General's Glory is in effect, its duration is extended by 1s when a nearby active character obtains an Elemental Shard from a Crystallize reaction. This effect can occur once every 0.1s. Max extension is 3s.
C3 Mauling Hound: Fierce as Fire
  • Increases the Level of Inuzaka All-Round Defense by 3.
  • Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C4 Lapping Hound: Warm as Water

When General's Glory is in the "Impregnable" or "Crunch" states, it will also heal active characters within its AoE by 50% of Gorou's own DEF every 1.5s.

C5 Striking Hound: Thunderous Force
  • Increases the Level of Juuga: Forward Unto Victory by 3.
  • Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C6 Valiant Hound: Mountainous Fealty

For 12s after using Inuzaka All-Round Defense or Juuga: Forward Unto Victory, increases the CRIT DMG of all nearby party members' Geo DMG based on the buff level of the skill's field at the time of use:

  • "Standing Firm": +10%
  • "Impregnable": +20%
  • "Crunch": +40%

This effect cannot stack and will take reference from the last instance of the effect that is triggered.
