Mogu'shan Palace Dungeon Guide
The ancient Mogu'shan Palace is the last true bastion of the mogu's strength. Three of their great clans recently gathered at this stunning location to meet with their king, Xin the Weaponmaster. This mighty ruler has formulated a bold plan to unite his scattered people and reclaim the glory of their fallen empire. With turmoil gripping Pandaria, Xin's lofty dream of conquest could become reality.
Introduction
This dungeon is available on all 4 dungeon difficulties, starting at level 87 on normal difficulty. Here players will face off against three bosses as they dive into the palace of the Mogu Empire facing off against some of the Mogu's most powerful Warlords in an attempt to quell the Mogu uprising.
Trial of the King
In this fight you will face off against three Mogu Lieutenants before you are
able to advance further in the dungeon. The first of these bosses is
Kuai the Brute who is accompanied by his loyal pet Quilen, Mu'Shiba.
While fighting Kuai the Brute you will need to constantly avoid
Shockwaves being thrown in random directions. Deal with
Kuai the Brute first, handling Mu'Shiba afterwards, during the
phase intermission.
Ming the Cunning is the second boss during this encounter; he creates
a moving tornado ( Whirling Dervish) that should be avoided. He will
also periodically use
Magnetic Field, creating a field of
Electricity and pulling all players on top of it so quickly move away from this
and finish the boss.
Haiyan the Unstoppable is the third and final boss for this encounter.
Players will need to spread at least 5-yards apart to prevent his
Conflagrate from hitting multiple players. He will also call down
a
Meteor on a random player, dealing damage split between all players
in the area. Stay spread out to avoid the
Conflagrate from
spreading, while staying close enough to split the damage from any nearby
Meteor. Once Haiyan the Unstoppable falls the stairway in
the back of the room will unlock, allowing the party to continue exploring the
palace.
Gekkan
Gekkan is an add-based fight, where players will face off against
the boss and his four bodyguards: Glintrok Hexxer,
Glintrok Ironhide, Glintrok Oracle, and
Glintrok Skulker. The order in which you kill the adds (or the boss)
will change the encounter as each individual add has a unique buff and spell,
allowing players to kill the more difficult adds first. Once Gekkan and all
four adds have been dealt with the encounter will end.
Gekkan himself only has one spell, Reckless Inspiration,
which he uses at the start of combat whenever one of his bodyguards dies, as
well as when he dies. This adds a stacking haste and damage taken buff (to himself
only), making the encounter increasingly more difficult each time an add dies.
Once all four bodyguards are dead and only Gekkan is alive, his damage dealt will be greatly increased.
A large factor for this fight is getting a good pull off. Allow the tank to engage the boss first, ideally pulling all of the adds to a nearby pillar while line-of-sighting them to prevent casting. Once all four of the adds are stacked together with the boss, DPS should proceed, either by AoEing the mobs down if damage is high enough, or single-target killing the bodyguards. Be sure to interrupt as many casts as possible while following our recommended kill order:
- Glintrok Ironhide — Channels
Iron Protector, reducing damage from nearby allies by 70%. This has no castbar but can be interrupted, making it ideal to simply target and kill this one quickly.
- Glintrok Hexxer — Uses
Hex of Lethargy on casters, reducing their casting speed greatly per stack.
- Glintrok Skulker —
Shank will stun random players, removing a minor annoyance from the fight.
- Glintrok Oracle — Uses
Cleansing Flame, healing nearby allies. This add deals very low damage, as long as you interrupt
Cleansing Flame each time to prevent the heal we recommend killing this add last.
- Gekkan — Lastly you will finish the boss, who will be dealing
greatly increased damage with his
Reckless Inspiration stacks.
Xin the Weaponmaster
At the end of the dungeon players will face off against the Mogu rebellion
leader, Xin the Weaponmaster. Alerted to your presence in the palace,
Xin the Weaponmaster has prepared his room with several booby traps
that will assault the players during battle. These traps can mostly be avoided
with constant movement and all have easily visible attack indicators that may be
avoided.
Xin the Weaponmaster himself will frequently cast an
un-avoidable AoE spell Inciting Roar, which must simply be healed through.
He also frequently uses
Ground Slam, slamming the ground and attacking
all enemies in a random direction and reducing the armor of targets hit. Keep an
eye out for the attack indicators and be sure to dodge the indicated cone.
Most of the traps throughout this encounter can be avoided. Circle of Flame will create a circle of flame after a few seconds, exploding and knocking up all nearby players. Whirlwinding Axes will create multiple Axes that slowly move around the room, dealing damage to nearby enemies. Blade Traps will activate when Xin the Weaponmaster reaches 66%, shooting out throwing knives in a cone area in front of them. The last trap, Death From Above!, only activates when Xin the Weaponmaster reaches 33% health and simply deals unavoidable damage to all players periodically.
Avoiding as much damage from the various traps is the main challenge of the
encounter and requires nearly constant movement from everybody. Most of the
traps can be entirely disregarded by tanking Xin the Weaponmaster
at the doorway that you entered the room from. Place Xin the Weaponmaster
in one corner of the doorway, moving from one corner to the other whenever
Ground Slam is cast.
