Monk PvP Overview

Monks are an incredibly versatile class that offer exceptional mobility, crowd control, and self-sustain. Between Roll Icon Roll, Transcendence Icon Transcendence, Tiger's Lust Icon Tiger's Lust and Disable Icon Disable, Monks have an stellar capacity to stick to targets or escape from pressure. On top of that, Monks provide a myriad of crowd control, from hard CCs like Paralysis Icon Paralysis and Leg Sweep Icon Leg Sweep to disarms, interrupts, and slows.

When choosing to PvP as a Monk, you will need to pick between three different specializations:

  1. WindwalkerWindwalker is a high mobility DPS class that offers both sustained and heavy-burst damage. Windwalkers have a nearly unparalleled ability to stick to their target, while also being able use that mobility to escape from an unfavourable situation.
  2. MistweaverMistweaver has the ability to covert a portion of their damage into healing, allowing them to aid in a fight while also maintain their allies' heath. Just like Windwalkers, Mistweaver is also a very slippery spec, able to disengage from a fight with relative ease.
  3. BrewmasterBrewmaster is the tank specialization for Monks. Although tank specs aren't commonly used in PvP, Brewmaster offers some unique value thanks to its extremely high mobility and damage mitigation. Generally you won't see many Brewmasters in arenas, they can be effective in battlegrounds as a durable and slippery flag carrier.

Macros and Addons

Macros and Addons are essentially a requirement given how drastically they can improve your moment to moment gameplay. Macros streamline the functionality of your game, allowing you to do things like target specific enemies with a key press, modify spell conditionals, or quickly cancel casts or remove auras. Addons improve your awareness by providing more detailed information, allowing you to make quicker and smarter decisions.

Listed below are our guides for Monk-specific Addons and Macros. Most of these are targeted towards PvE but many can also be very useful in PvP scenarios.
