1. Battlefield of Eternity

Battlefield of Eternity
Battlefield of Eternity

The High Heavens and the Burning Hells clash, quite literally, in a battlefield that represents their everlasting struggle. Two Immortals, ancient warriors locked in a duel to the death, need your help to prevail against their eternal foe. Vanquish the enemy Immortal, and you'll find yourself charging over hallowed or profane ground—right onto the enemy's doorstep.

Engage in Immortal Combat

Two Immortals fight at the center of the map. Help your Immortal prevail, and lay waste to the enemy's Forts.

Employ Eternal Tactics

Protect your Immortal by obliterating the opposing team, or descend upon the enemy Immortal with relentless fury.

Hire Unique Mercenaries

Bolster your forces with Fallen Shaman and cunning Impalers, who will lend their powers to your cause!

Battlefield of Eternity is a map with only two lanes instead of three, which puts a lot of focus on controlling Map Objectives such as the Immortal and Mercenaries in order to get rid of the enemy Structures as quickly as possible. Thus, Tassadar's Plasma Shield Icon Plasma Shield can become a huge asset in order to defend your own Structures while the enemy Immortal is pushing.

Winning a match on Battlefield of Eternity goes hand in hand with dominating the middle of the map in order to weaken the enemy Immortal and summon your own one. Tassadar's Psionic Storm Icon Psionic Storm provides great zoning, especially while defending your own Immortal. Try to stay close to the rest of your team at all times, as Tassadar works best if he is able to protect and peel for nearby allies. Remember to use Oracle Icon Oracle while fighting in the middle of the map to detect the enemy team's movements.

2. Blackheart's Bay

Blackheart's Bay
Blackheart's Bay

The ghost pirate Blackheart has staked his claim upon the realm of Mistharbor. His undead pirate crew has poured onto the streets, claiming the once thriving marketplace as their new den of villainy.

Collect Doubloons

Attack treasure chests, mercenaries, and skeletons to collect doubloons.

Turn in Doubloons

Hand your doubloons over to Blackheart or you will drop them all when you die!

Bombard Your Enemies

After receiving enough doubloons from your team, Blackheart will bombard your enemy's forts!

In most cases, early game action on Blackheart's Bay will happen around the top half of the map while on the bottom half there will usually be a duel between the two bottom laners. In both cases, the top priority is to secure as many gold Doubloons as possible. We found Tassadar to be relatively weak during the early game on this map, as it has many wide areas which make it hard for Tassadar's Psionic Storm Icon Psionic Storms to hit more than one or two targets. Try to shove your lane by using Psionic Storm on enemy minion waves before the first Chest spawns. Keep in mind that your Storms can be used quite usefully on the chests to make them spawn Doubloons faster.

During the later stages of the game you should make sure to shield your own structures with your Plasma Shield Icon Plasma Shield if you happen to be close during an enemy bombardment. The Calldown: MULE Icon Calldown: MULE talent can be of good use here if your team does not have another Hero available who could take it. Be careful, however, to use Mule after the bombardment is over, otherwise your little robot will get hit by the cannon balls.

3. Cursed Hollow

Cursed Hollow
Cursed Hollow

As one of the first and most ancient realms pulled into the Nexus, the realm of Raven Court has grown large and prosperous over the millennia. The province of Cursed Hollow, a gothic landscape of twisting villages and farmlands, serves as an ideal trial grounds for the Heroes of the Storm.

Collect Tributes

The Raven Lord will periodically create tributes. Gather them for your team!

Curse Your Enemies

Upon capturing three tributes, the Raven Lord will curse your enemies.

Cursed Forts and Minions

Cursed forts will not attack, and cursed minions are reduced to 1 health.

As Tassadar, the mid lane is your place to be on this map. On Cursed Hollow, you do not have to play overly aggressive until the first tribute is announced. Depending on whether your team wants to fight for it or not, you will have to shove your lane or remain passive. Even if your team decides to ignore a tribute, you can still try to delay your enemies from taking it by casting Psionic Storm Icon Psionic Storm on them. Oracle Icon Oracle is of special importance on Cursed Hollow, as the map has got plenty of corners and bushes in which enemies could be hiding. A well timed Oracle can be really convenient to spot potential enemy ambushes and assaults, especially if you are trying to fight one of the Golem Bosses. Keep in mind to rotate around the map constantly after Level 10 and try to stick close to your teammates.

Games on Cursed Hollow can easily extend past the 20 minute mark and there are probably not going to be a whole lot of early game team fights, which is why we suggest to take the Conjurer's Pursuit Icon Conjurer's Pursuit talent over Psi-Infusion Icon Psi-Infusion on this map.

4. Dragon Shire

Dragon Shire
Dragon Shire

These lush and deceptively peaceful gardens have grown over time, covering the once molten realm known as Dragon Spire. Beneath this verdant paradise, the ancient power of the dragons was sealed away... and their descendants have neither forgotten nor forgiven the trespasses of those who wronged them.

Control the Shrines

There are two shrines your team needs to control to activate the Dragon Knight's statue.

Free the Dragon Knight

While activated, bring a hero to the statue to free the Dragon Knight from his prison!

Devastate Enemy Forts

Use the Dragon Knight's immense power to level enemy forts!

Try to secure mid lane at the beginning of the game. Dragon Shire is a medium sized map, which means that Oracle Icon Oracle is going to be particularly useful here to prevent enemies from rotating around the map unseen. Whenever you see enemy Heroes passing through mid to either top or bottom lane, use your Oracle to track them down and warn your allies. On Dragon Shire it is a common strategy to send 4 players to mid lane early on and shove the first minion wave out before rotating to bottom lane and repeating the same procedure. Keep an eye out if your allies are responding appropriately to help you out. If not, just play it calmly and position yourself behind your towers and soak experience from a safe distance.

On Dragon Shire you will constantly have to keep an eye out to bottom and top lane especially if the shrines get activated. Before your team hits Level 10, you should never leave your lane in order to keep the experience flowing. Do not get too bothered even if both shrines fall into the enemies' hands, as long as you are keeping up in experience. Only if you definitely want to secure a Dragon Knight should you leave your lane and support a team fight for one of the shrines.

5. Garden of Terror

Garden of Terror
Garden of Terror

Once the royal gardens were a splendor to behold. But lately a shadow has fallen over them... Writhing tendrils creep across the grounds at night, and a number of servants have disappeared while walking its twisting paths. Queen Nightshade claims to be unaware of these incidents, but some are beginning to suspect she has gone mad.

Fight the Shamblers

At night, Shamblers will rise from the gardens.

Collect Seeds

Kill the Shamblers and collect seeds for your team.

Control Garden Terror

With 100 seeds, control a garden terror and destroy your enemies!

Garden of Terror is one of the biggest maps in the current map pool and also one of the trickiest to play. Try to position yourself on mid lane during the early stages of the game. Similarly to Dragon Shire, your Oracle Icon Oracle trait will work wonders as soon as the Shamblers and big neutral Plant Terrors spawn during the first night. On this map it is quite important to leave your lane even pre-Level 10 in order to secure as many Seeds as possible. Watch the minimap from time to time and keep track of your allies' movements. If they start to fight one of the Plant Bosses you should assist them and try to keep them as healthy as possible, since enemy ganks can cause a lot of problems if they catch you unprepared.

Due to the fact that you will be able to obtain purple Regeneration Globes from the neutral Plant Bosses, next to the standard green ones from mercenaries and minions, it is suggested to take Conjurer's Pursuit Icon Conjurer's Pursuit over Psi-Infusion Icon Psi-Infusion at Level 1. Tassadar is actually a great Hero to hop inside the Garden Terror once you have accumulated 100 Seeds, so feel free to take this task into your own hands. While controlling the Garden Terror, make sure to use your W skill (Garden Terror Overgrowth) as flexibly as possible. Try to avoid taking unnecessary damage and instead rotate between lanes in order to damage or destroy as many enemy structures as possible.

6. Infernal Shrines

Infernal Shrines
Infernal Shrines

Demonic corruption threatens the Gardens of Hope. Called forth by the Shrines, Punishers prowl the battlefield, terrifying creatures that live to destroy heroes. Defeat the Shrines' Guardians before your enemies do, and the next Punisher will fight for you; fail, and face the demon's wrath.

Activate the Shrines

The Infernal Shrines periodically gather power. Activate them and prepare for a fight.

Defeat Guardians

Slay 30 Guardians before the enemy team to bring forth a mighty Punisher.

Beware the Punisher

Punishers have one of three devastating powers. Be careful, they focus on attacking heroes above all else.

Although this map features three lanes, the distances between lanes are fairly short which means you can gather Regeneration Globes quite efficiently. This makes Conjurer's Pursuit Icon Conjurer's Pursuit a useful talent to pick at Level 1. Due to the tremendous impact the Map Objective has on the course of the game, it is imperative to stick to the rest of your team in order to appear at the Shrines in time.

Since waveclear abilities allow you to damage several Skeletal Defenders at the same time in order to summon the Punisher faster, Psionic Storm Icon Psionic Storm becomes a very powerful ability on Infernal Shrines, especially if combined with the Second Strike Icon Second Strike talent at Level 16. Keep in mind that once a Punisher has been defeated, it will take 1:30 minutes until the next Shrine location gets announced.

7. Sky Temple

Sky Temple
Sky Temple

Floating above the vast desert sands of Luxoria, the Sky Temple serves as a center of worship for the snake god, Ka. He stores his great power within the temples, each of them secured by guardians. With such defenses, no warriors would think to seize the god's power for themselves... or would they?

Capture the Temples

Temples will periodically awaken. Stand within their grounds to capture their power!

Hold the Temples

Remain firm and the temple will unleash a blistering onslaught on your enemy's forts!

Defend the Temples

Guardians will try to wrest control of their temples from your team. Hold them off to keep the temple's power for yourselves!

Sky Temple is a fast paced map on which you will be involved in a lot of team fights, even during the first minutes of the game, due to the way the map objective works. Try to secure yourself a spot on mid lane and shove your lane as much as you can. The first two temples to activate will always be the top and middle ones, so try to maintain a healthy amount of Mana in order to participate in early skirmishes and team fights for temple control. The second temple that is going to get activated will always be the bottom one. As Tassadar, it is imperative that you rotate quickly enough to fight along your teammates, as your Plasma Shield Icon Plasma Shields and Healing Ward Icon Healing Ward are essential tools to sustain them through longer team fights.

Games on Sky Temple will rarely last longer than 20 minutes and most of the time teams will not reach Level 20 either, so we would recommend you pick Psi-Infusion Icon Psi-Infusion at Level 1 instead of Conjurer's Pursuit Icon Conjurer's Pursuit. A Mule can also be a promising talent to invest in because, unlike the cannon balls on Blackheart's Bay, the laser beams shot from the temples will not damage your little repairing robot.

8. Tomb of the Spider Queen

Tomb of the Spider Queen
Tomb of the Spider Queen

The long forgotten tombs of Luxoria have found a new master. Deep within their timeworn chambers, the Spider Queen Neithis stirs from her ancient slumber. Present her with the gems of power she seeks, and you may just escape with your lives.

Collect Gems

Enemy spider minions and Heroes drop magical gems upon death. Gather as many as you can!

Turn in Gems

Relinquish your gems at one of the Spider Queen's altars or you will drop them all when you die!

Summon Webweavers

Whichever team turns in enough gems first will unleash the Webweavers to destroy their enemy's defenses.

Being one of the smallest maps currently available, Tomb of the Spider Queen will draw all your attention towards early skirmishes. Using Psionic Storm Icon Psionic Storms to shove your lane (which is preferably the middle lane) will buy you enough time to rotate around and help your allies if they want to turn in some of the Gems they were able to collect. Mercenary Camps will not come into play until Level 10, since most Heroes will be busy collecting Gems and keeping the enemy from turning in theirs. Try to use your Oracle Icon Oracle trait around the two turning in points and interrupt enemies from turning in with the help of your Psionic Storm Icon Psionic Storms. One thing to also keep in mind when picking up Gems is to avoid taking unnecessary risks. If you are behind in experience and find yourself in an uncomfortable spot in your lane, try to let the enemy minions come closer to your own towers. This will allow you to pick up Gems more safely.

Once you have gathered enough Gems to summon the Spider Queen's Webweavers, it is time to start pushing towards the enemy base. The Second Strike Icon Second Strike talent at Level 16 can help you out quite a bit, as it will allow you to single-handedly wipe out entire minion waves in order to clear a path for your Webweavers, and to collect plenty of Gems.
