This page will outline Machinist-specific optimization for the Savage difficulty of Pandaemonium: Asphodelos. It assumes, at minimum, a basic understanding of the job and how end game encounters work.

1.

Machinist Overview For Pandaemonium: Asphodelos (Savage)

Asphodelos is the first raid tier released in the expansion FFXIV: Endwalker and consists of four fights, with the fourth fight having two phases and being split with a checkpoint:

  1. Warder of the Condemned: Erichthonios
  2. Mythic Creation: The Hippokampus
  3. Mythic Creation: The Phoinix
  4. Himitheos: Hesperos

If you're looking for more generalized guides, you should take a look at our Savage guides written by Lyra Rose, linked below each section.

Disclaimer: This document contains suggestions. If your group has decided they wish to do something different listed on this page, assess the changes with your group. The suggestions below are not your only options for these fights, and this page shouldn't be treated as if it is.

2.

Erichthonios (Savage)

The first fight of the raid tier is a full uptime fight with not a whole lot of optimization to be had. The fight doesn't last long enough for a third potion. You'll most likely be wanting to use your potion in your opener and again at the six-minute burst window. Depending on your specific kill time, there could be an argument made for potting at 2:00 and then having a delayed burst at 6:30 to catch a final potion. This decision should be made with a group discussion.

As far as your opener is concerned, the general opener works fine. If you know what kill time you're going to have, you may have the ability to push more Multi-Tool actions into raid buffs. Ultimately, your opener won't make much of a difference for this fight, so use whichever you're most comfortable with.

Tactician Usage - P1S

  1. Warden's Wrath
  2. Intemperance
  3. Slam Shut
3.

The Hippokampus (Savage)

The second fight of the tier has downtime during the mechanic Kampeos Harma, which will force a delay on everyone's burst windows at the 4:00 mark. This does a couple of things for Machinists that benefit us.

The big one is it allows us to decouple Barrel Stabilizer Icon Barrel Stabilizer from our burst without delaying it. This makes burst windows easier to manage while at the same time not risking losing Heat from kill time mistakes.

This next one really affects the group as a whole, but potion timings will be extremely flexible. If you pot in the opener, you can pot again immediately after Kampeos Harma ends. This is extremely useful for prog groups, less so for optimized groups killing under 9:25. Standard pot usage for people parsing will more than likely want to pot at 2:00 and 6:30. It lines up perfectly.

As with P1S, your opener for this fight largely does not matter. The downtime at Kampeos Harma won't conflict with Multi-Tool action usage, so any alignment will work. You may want to delay your heavy-hitting actions slightly when the boss becomes targetable again to align with your group. The delay shouldn't be more than a GCD or two.

3.1.

Tactician Usage - P2S

  1. Sewage Deluge
  2. Coherance
  3. Tainted Flood
4.

The Phoinix (Savage)

The Phoinix probably has the most room for optimization in the entire raid tier. The Sunbird phase has been entirely removed from FF Logs, so coming out of the phase with full resources and all of your Multi-Tool actions off cooldown is ideal. Keep in mind that for prog, being consistent at the add phase is the most important thing you can do, so don't be afraid of spending your resources. With more gear, holding back some won't be an issue.

Once your group is geared, you will not have a third potion as an option. The best places for an optimized pot will be 2:00 and 6:30, right after Fountain of Fire. For prog, potting in the opener, again after adds, and one final potion prior to enrage is your best bet.

This fight demands you open with Air Anchor Icon Air Anchor. Failing to do so will result in a lost cast right as the boss leaves around 2:41. Drill Icon Drill can be delayed several GCDs without risk of losing a usage.

4.1.

Tactician Usage - P3S

  1. Brightened Fire
  2. Flames of Undeath
  3. Firestorms of Asphodelos
  4. Experimental Gloryplume
5.

Hesperos Phase One (Savage)

If you're progging this fight, it is extremely important that you open with a "selfish opener." Your first three GCDs in the fight should be Air Anchor Icon Air Anchor, Drill Icon Drill, and Chain Saw Icon Chain Saw. Due to the enrage timer, delaying Chain Saw Icon Chain Saw any longer than this will result in a lost usage. Once your group is getting kill times sub-7:00, this will no longer matter.

On a similar note, enrage prog and very late kill times will probably opt for delaying burst to after Pinax ends. You'll have two options for this. You can enter Wildfire at 2:30, which places Air Anchor Icon Air Anchor as the final GCD in the sequence, or you can use the Drill Icon Drill at 2:42 as the first GCD in Wildfire. Make the decision based on where raid buffs are coming out and your kill time. To facilitate these delayed windows, summon Automaton Queen Icon Automaton Queen at Battery levels of 50/60/50. This sets up your burst windows perfectly.

Any kill time between 6:30 and 6:50 will more than likely want to swap back to no delay burst windows. In that case, this is a dummy fight for us, and the rotation structure is fairly straightforward. If your group is killing under 6:30, the option for delaying the 2:00 burst to 3:00 is available and is probably your best bet.

Potion usage for this fight is the standard opener pot and six-minute burst. If you're delaying burst to 3:00 like discussed above, you can pot in the opener and again at the five-minute burst.

5.1.

Tactician Usage P4S Phase 1

  1. Decollation
  2. Acid/Lava Pinax
  3. Belone Burst
6.

Hesperos Phase Two (Savage)

The second half of Hesperos is full uptime and fairly straightforward. Mechanics do tend to line up exactly with your burst windows (almost like it was planned or something), so prepare to feel slightly overwhelmed keeping your rotation on track.

Plan on potting at 2:00 and either 6:30 or 7:00 depending on kill time and what your group prefers. For prog, you won't want to delay your burst windows, but once you start killing a bit faster, you can freely delay the six-minute window without repercussion.

  1. Searing Stream
  2. Ultimate Impulse
  3. Dark IV Tethers
