quick question, does weapon damage scale into damage output directly on this build? and how is weapon damage calculated when weilding 2 1h weapons?

Okay, bit complicated since you're asking about some maths-stuff now. Here it is in the most basic form, for a single weapon:

Actual damage output = [(Weapon Damage + Jewelry Damage) * (Main Stat/100) * [((CHC*CHD) + 100)/2] * (100 + SkillDmg%) * Attacks Per Second] * [[((Skill Rune Damage) * (100+Skill%) * (100+Elemental%)/100)] * (100 + EliteDmg%)]

There's a lot of moving parts that change depending on whether you are working with percentages, factors, ratios etc. If you don't understand everything here, you can't work out your actual output per second. Regardless, you can see that Weapon Damage definitely does, yes. For 2 1-handed weapons, the equation alternates every time you strike with each weapon, with the weapon damage changing, as well as the attack speed for some builds.

1 hour ago, Guest Bolen said:

so for the 1st question, If i had a total 4k damage output, and I get a new weapon with 400 more dps would that mean I'll do 10% more damage on every cast?

No.

1 hour ago, Guest Bolen said:

and for the 2nd one, if I have 2 1h weapons with 2k dps does that mean when factoring in the weapon damage on skill tooltips it uses the sum of the 2? (4k) or an average? (2k).

It alternates, using each individual damage figure.

While we're at it, what would u suggest needs changing asap on my char? just going for overall ancient rolls on all gear pieces or is there any particular piece u see that seriously needs an improvement?

Your amulet needs to be replaced. Your restraint, assuming you rolled Dex to CHC, is kinda ruined. Given that you've rolled it like that, definitely roll for Vit on your shoulders instead of RCR. Your Kyoshiro has a really low affix roll. Your gloves are a low priority, but could do with a replacement.

Hello,

Just a question I have, while browsing the build I noticed a recommendation of CHD over CHC on rings for example, but on my character sheet damage is always better to roll CHC. Is there any hidden reason to prioritize CHD for the build? We already have a lot from dual wielding emeralds and stuff and I'd like to understand that.

Thanks in advance.

Guest what

If I want to augment an item in the Sunwuko build, what item should it be and what gems should I use?

It's been a month since you asked, but the item you're augmenting changes nothing about the stats. Pick the ancient piece of gear you expect to use the most/use for the longest. It's universally recommended to just augment your classes mainstat. For a Monk, you will want to use Emeralds for the augmentation. The legendary gem doesn't matter, but the higher its level, the more stat you add.

As of Season 13 there is a more ranged heavy variant of this build. For the most part substitutions for this set are just around getting the most spirit generation.

Replacing the crippling wave spirit builder with Epiphany - Desert Shroud, makes the WoL Spam great. since we dont need the generator, spirit guards can be replaced by Pinto's Pride in the bracers slot if you have them round the other way and a Cindercoat (resource reduction) or Nemesis Bracers in the kanai's.

Finally focus and restraint are replaced with a more stable Convention of Elements and Unity(Solo) or Stone of Jordan(Group)
Personally haven't tested the spirit generation ring Band of Rue Chambers as an alternative, might give some added stability to the nemesis bracers variant for groups if it works with mystic ally as your spirit pool could be 300+

Same Gems apply, Passives depending on your setup. Beacon of Ytar and Harmony are the must two. Near death experience can save you in a decievingly squishy build. Since im running Nem Bracers i use Exalted Soul as my 4th to run more generation but Seize the Initiative would provide a higher gain with the seemingly standard Cindercoat in the Kanai's.

Have seen WoL hits in the trillions with a cycle from CoE and this is with only level 70-75 gems and 5 ancients and very little Dex from Caldesann's Augments.. Since WoL is also AoE and you do still provide an All Res and Dodge Mantra to a group I've been having loads of fun with friends in a group rift, hence the Nem bracers

Just be warned Sweeping Winds can fall off quite easy since everything you hit is on the edge or off your screen... watch that stack like a hawk and beware poison it has it out for you!

PS. Alternative to stone of jordan could run the ring of royal grandeur in the slot and take the Mara's Kaleidoscope defensive neck in kanais, or talisman of aranoch if the frost damage is getting the best of you, most arcane/fire/shock damage can be dodged with a quick dashing strike

Hello there.

i was wondering why is Explosive Light so much better than Pillars of the Ancients, is there some hidden mechanics? I don't have knowledge on how it works so any help woudl be very usefeull.

Also is inna's belt+boots any good? Does it make the @all resist mantra +40% vs +20% without?

Thank you.

@the dig explosive of light covers more area so deal more aoe dmg.

few questions

how exactly works kyoshiro blade affix about hitting 3 or fewer enemies with initial impact? its about that bell or lines spreading from bell? some advices how to best utilize this property

isnt a good idea to add some life on hit or life for spirit spend to weapon? i have to admit that build deals incredible amount of dmg(thats why i abandoned multishot dh and whirlwind barb) but i struggle with life and survive in 90+gr

For sure Explosive light has more AoE, but PotA also have some AoE and deals 70% more dmg on paper, i see that it is recommended to use fire but it looks like it's mainly because with Cindercoat it is cheaper on ressources, if ressources is not an issue isn't PotA better?

try to finish high GR without EoL, its so hard to apply dmg with other runes,i think this is the reason to choose EoL

but i have i question too, which build is better or what are the differrence:this one with focus/restraint and spirit guard or this one with cindercoat, unity and epiphany?

Yes, it is.

I find it quite hard to build up sweeping wind charges after I die in high GR, and Kyoshiro's soul helps a lot in that cases, while on witching hour it sometimes impossible to do so.

Kyoshiro's is very situational, if you died and respawn with enemies around you its passive is useless since it doesn't trigger when you hit enemies with it, so there might be situations when you don't benefit from it at all. Additional chd from witching hour on the other hand adds to your damage all the time. Witching Hour is better, especially when you run the variant of the build without generator.

If you have problems after switching to witching hour keep on using kyoshiros soul, it's not like someone forces you to go with option a or b.

Kyoshiro works great. If you do die, just hit Sweeping Wind and you're up normal. With it's normal operation you're always at 9 stacks, so no need to ramp up stacks and have spells applied at 1 or 2 stacks. You're always hitting at full strength. Witching Hour has better stats, but that's not the whole story.

Not when there are enemies around you. If there are enemies around you kyoshiro does nothing, thus it is situational. You end up much better going with witching hour, but if you fail at maintaining stacks of sweeping wind without kyoshiros then yes, kyoshiro is better.

Witching hour > Kyoshiro.

If you fail at maintaning sweeping wind stacks: Kyoshiro > Witching Hour.

Why "The Witching Hour" and not "Kyoshiro soul" as belt ?

All times 10stacks of wind with Kyoshiro

Kyoshiro is irrelevant when you actually try to push high content, since you'll never lose stacks. It's only useful in bounties etc., since you might drop stacks.

I tried this variation today, which is used by most on the leaderboards this season, and so far I don't like it. Epiphany is very nice when its up, but man is it hard staying alive when it is down. Perhaps my toughness is a little low for this variation? I'm at between 28-35million in town toughness with no sweeping wind up. The generator is nicer just because of the 100% survivability uptime in GR 90+'s. I think the icyveins version is also a bit easier to deal with roll-wise, only really having to get your usual rolls + area damage instead of needing to reroll for CDR as well, so perhaps the Epiphany version really is for super min/maxing in GR's, where even a few seconds extra spamming time matters a lot? What is everyone elses experience with this variation like?

Are there any decent alternatives to focus and restraint for the rings when it comes to higher level pushing with Sunwuko WOL?

It can be annoying to have to tap the generator in the middle of a tough fight, then get out of there and wander far enough away to take full advantage of the Zei's Stone of Vengeance distance bombing, then wander back in to the battle to generate, then wander away again.

Thanks.

There's a variant without F+R, yeah.

It runs Unity and CoE instead, but you will need to drop Crippling Wave and take Epiphany instead. Also, you would drop Guardian's and Sixth Sense passive, instead taking Near Death Experience and Beacon of Ytar.

There isn't much to change. Drop the helm and boots, use Sage's instead.

Blizzard have moved the launch of Season 34 back a week!
While it was supposed to start today, Blizzard cite players not wanting the new D3 and D4 season launches to overlap on the same week, and needing more time to get the season properly set up, as the previous one ended early.

      Hi all
We have shifted the start for the new season of Diablo III to next week. This is due to a few items:
We received a good amount of feedback that many didn’t want overlap with the first weekend of Diablo IV’s new season. We agree so we are building out that gap and will be more mindful of that going forward.
This will help us properly ensure account states migrate over as we had an issue with the prior season rolling early and us having to kick things back on.
You can find the exact times on our Season 34 blog.

Blizzard has posted an official preview of Diablo 3's upcoming Season 34 that starts on January 24!
The ongoing Season 33 ends on January 19. Season 34 reintroduces the Light's Calling Season theme, which means players can obtain Angelic Crucibles, consumables that may be used to Sanctify any Legendary item, infusing it randomly with one of three new class-specific powers. Cosmetic rewards for the patch are as follows:
Completing the Season 34 Guarian journey grants the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.
Haedrig's Gift will award you with the following sets in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival For more information about Season 34, check out the official blog post below.

Sanctuary needs you to answer its call for aid in Season 34: Light’s Calling. Starting on January 24 at 5 p.m. PST/CET/KST, Nephalem can harness the power of the Light’s Calling theme, which first debuted with Season 27. For an in-depth look at what’s coming, take a gander below. Also, Season 33 will officially come to an end on January 19.

      Season Theme
Looking to turn the tide of an unremitting war between light and darkness, the Angels of the High Heavens have embedded a token of their righteousness in Sanctuary. Cunning Nephalem seeking an advantage in combat will undergo an angelic trial, crystallizing a symbol of their morality into pure, otherworldly perfection. The specific celestial force imbued within by the divine is unknown—an answer waiting to be sought on the battlefield. Go forth, Nephalem!
Season 34 reintroduces Light’s Calling. Valiant Nephalem who recover Angelic Crucibles, a new consumable item, may use them to Sanctify any equippable Legendary item, infusing it with one of three new class-specific powers at random. We wanted to use Angelic Crucibles to lean into the expertise of each class, further exemplifying its respective prowess, but through a nuanced lens. The High Heavens are home to ethereal splendor, bursting with boundless radiance—we wanted to provide players with a taste of untainted power as doled out from Heaven itself.

      Season Cosmetic Rewards
In Season 34, awards originally available from Season 10 are returning. In addition to the Head and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, you’ll be able to earn the Black Soulstone themed portraits and the scholarly Loremaster pennant first introduced in Season 10.

However, we know it’s nice to have something new to aim for if you’ve participated in previous Seasons. We’re continuing to provide new End of Journey rewards as introduced in Season 17, with two new cosmetic ones for those who complete the entirety of the Season journey. Prove your worth alongside the Shades of the Nephalem and complete the Season 34 Guardian Journey to earn the Book of Cain pet and the Lost Civilization Portrait Frame.

      Seasonal Conquest
Seasonal Conquests are additional goals you can complete as part of our Season Journey. To earn all the cosmetic rewards, you'll need to complete at least three of the Conquests below. The challenges available in Season 34 include:
Sprinter and Speed Racer task you with completing Acts I through V at max level in under one hour. Want to go fast while killing things? Boss Mode and Worlds Apart are right up your alley. On A Good Day and I Can’t Stop are making a return, if leveling your Legendary Gems is more your thing. Finally, if you’re keen to prove your mastery of various Class Sets, Years of War and Dynasty will be returning along with Masters of the Universe and Masters of Sets. Best of luck! Return to Top
      Haedrig’s Gift

Finally, the Class Sets rewarded for completing certain chapters in the Season Journey courtesy of Haedrig’s Gift have rotated once more. We’ve listed the available Sets below. For those new to Seasons, here’s how it works.
Completing Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of the Season Journey will reward you with three of Haedrig’s Gifts. These contain a few pieces from one of your Class Sets. Players can only unlock one Class Set in this manner per Season across Hardcore and Non-Hardcore, so choose wisely!
The set you receive depends on the class of the character you’re playing when you open each Haedrig’s Gift. To collect a full Class Set, you’ll need to open all three on the same character. In this season, Haedrig's Gift will grant all-new class sets introduced with previous Seasons.
Here are the sets granted by Haedrig’s Gift in Season 34:
Barbarian - Horde of the Ninety Savages Crusader - Aegis of Valor Demon Hunter - Gears of Dreadlands Monk - Patterns of Justice Witch Doctor - Mundunugu’s Regalia Wizard - Typhon’s Veil Necromancer - Masquerade of the Burning Carnival Return to Top
