European Winter Premlinaries Details Announced

Recommended Posts

The 2016 European Winter Preliminaries take place this weekend to decide the eight players who will participate in the 2016 European Winter Championship. Blizzard have released the details of the times and places they will take place.

In our previous article, we mentioned the list of players was not final. Despite a few problems regarding some tournaments claiming to offer points that were not sanctioned, the top 128 players, plus those tied for 128th, plus 20 Tavern Heroes, will compete in the European Winter Premliminaries. The event will take place across twenty European venues and will be streamed in English, French, and Russian on Twitch.

Some of the big names competing are ThijsNL, RDU, Greensheep, Hoej, Superjj, and Xixo. There are plenty of other top players in the event, and it will be exciting to get the Road to Blizzcon properly under way. Our previous article highlights the point standings at the end of the season, and those standings are now final.

Blizzard take the time in the announcement to clarify that there will be more locations added in future seasons, after complaints that many players were going to have to spend excessive sums of money to take the seat they had earned.
