Ben Brode Streamed Hearthstone on Twitch Last Night

Recommended Posts

Hearthstone's Senior Game Designer, Ben Brode, streamed live on Twitch on Tuesday night. Unfortunately there is no VoD of the event. It was a short Hearthstone stream and he played at rank 25. The stream peaked at around 1320 viewers and lasted forty minutes. It was titled: "New F2P Account!".

Brode, who admitted he didn't know much about streaming, apparently struggled to keep up with a very spammy chat on his first attempt. Anyone who has seen a busy Twitch chat will not be surprised by this. He did find the time to mention that they have tested some community made cards. He gave an example of a card called "Spirit Healer" in Shaman. There are two versions of this card that I can find, and it is not clear which one was tested, but it is good that they are looking at community efforts. They also tested a card that puts the last spell you cast back into your hand, but it kept putting itself back into the hand. It seems odd they couldn't fix this, so it was probably just an amusing anecdote rather than the reason it wasn't printed.

Hopefully he will take the time to stream again now that he knows what to expect. He only played one game, which he won. It is likely that this was a test for the future. He appeared to be having fun, so hopefully he takes some feedback and advice, sets up a stricter chat, and is back sooner rather than later.
