Damien 1,511 Report post Posted March 5, 2013 This thread is meant to collect useful pieces of information for Assassination, Combat, and Subtlety Rogues attempting bosses in the Throne of Thunder. We will add some contributions ourselves and hope that the rest will come from comments in this thread Table of Contents Jin'rokh the Breaker Horridon Council of Elders Tortos Megaera Ji-Kun Durumu the Forgotten Primordius Dark Animus Iron Qon Twin Consorts Lei Shen Jin'rokh the Breaker Useful talents: Elusiveness (massive Lightning Storm damage reduction) Anticipation Useful glyphs:Glyph of Feint Glyph of Smoke Bomb Glyph of Vendetta (Assassination) Tips and Tricks:Save all cooldowns for the first pool. use Smoke Bomb during Lightning Storm (make sure to have it glyph). Keep Feint rolling during Lightning Storm. Cloak of Shadows should be available during each Lightning Storm. to negate the vast portion of the damage. Feint can be used for the remainder of the Lightning Storm. Assuming the raid is going to stack behind Jin'rokh during Lightning Storm, you can use Shadowstep to let you remain in the water to maximize Fluidity buff uptime until the very last second, using Shadowstep just as Lightning Storm is about to cast. This helps on the first two pools, but after that Jin'rokh's back will likely be in already Electrified Waters, so you'll want to just use Sprintto move to the rest of raid for surviving Lightning Storm. (Assassination) Try and pot at the start of a puddle when the boss is below 35% health. (Combat) You can pop Venture Company Beatdown on the pull and have it up in time for the first Conductive Waters. (Heroic) Cloak of Shadows is the strongest ability you can possibly have here. If you pre-cast it when there is two seconds or less until Ionization casts, it will not apply the debuff to you so long as Cloak is still active on you. This makes Rogues incredibly strong on this fight, as it bypasses the main Heroic ability. (Heroic) Elusiveness is also incredibly useful, as is Glyph of Feint. It allows you to much more safely continue to DPS Jin'rokh during Lightning Storm. Should a stray Orb hit you, it'll do no more than 55k damage to you, a manageable amount, if you do not take more than one in conjunction with the extra lightning storm damage. Links:Jin'rokh the Breaker Strategy Horridon Useful talents:Leeching Poison Marked for Death Useful glyphs: Glyph of Vendetta (Assassination)Tips and Tricks:Combat does not seem to be very good for this fight because the adds are too spread out for Blade Flurry to be effective. As Assassination, use Vendetta on Horridon only, adds die too fast for it to be worth it. On adds, apply Rupture with 3-4 Combo Points to 3 adds (to make sure poisons proc on each add with Rupture on). Use Fan of Knives when at least 4 adds are in range. Marked for Death is clearly ahead here, Rogues just have to remember the 4CP+ finishers. The 2-Piece T15 set is very strong together with this talent. (Heroic) Glyph of Cloak of Shadows is immensely strong for Dire Call. Assuming you have a Mass Dispell available on door one, good interrupts (or cleanses) on door two, proper disease removal on door 3 and effective decurising on door 4, which every guild doing the fight on heroic should have, you can mitigate the heavy damage from Dire Call greatly with this. (Heroic) Talented Elusiveness on top of that is also an excellent ability to have, both for Dire Calls but also if your tanks are struggling with noticing the AoE effects on the ground and moving accordingly. Door #3 in particular often has multiple frozen orbs that can be difficult to distinguish, because of the very high health on the Frozen Warlords. (Heroic) Depending on your setup, and how much cleave you can afford to put on Horridon, it's perfectly valid to use Vendettaand other such abilities to burst down one of the two Balcony adds that jump down together, to swiftly remove major contributors of difficulty on the encounter. (Heroic) You should make good use of Glyph of Smoke Bomb on this encounter. There's several times where Dire Call will cast while you are either stacked with lots of other melees DPS'ing down adds where it can be used to great effectivity. You should just make sure that you have it ready again for when War-God Jalak is in the arena, as the final few Bestial Cry he casts can very easily wipe the raid if not mitigated. Links:Horridon Strategy Council of Elders Useful talents:Leeching Poison Anticipation Level 90 talents depends on your raid. If you are on stun duty for Marli's adds, pick up Marked for Death. It gives you 5 Combo Points to use on Kidney Shot. If your raid has someone else stunning the adds, go with Anticipation. Useful glyphs:Glyph of Feint Glyph of Vendetta (Assassination) Tips and Tricks:When Marli's adds come out, since they die so fast just apply a 2-3 point Rupture and do normal single-target rotation. If you need to run across Quicksand, Cloak of Shadows prevents the damage. DO NOT blow cooldowns on Kazra'jin when he is empowered. If healers are having problems, keep Feint rolling when you are damaging Kazra'jin while he is empowered. Cloak of Shadows also prevents the damage done to be reflected back to you, on empowered Kazra'jin. Links:Council of Elders Strategy Tortos Useful talents:Elusiveness Anticipation Useful glyphs:Glyph of Feint Glyph of Vendetta (Assassination) Tips and Tricks:When looking at Tortos, if you are to the left of his right leg, it is considered being behind him. You can Cloak of Shadows Rockfall. Using Feint during Quake Stomp drastically reduces the damage taken (especially with Elusiveness). If you need to DPS the bats, just use Fan of Knives as your Combo Point builder and spend these Combo Points on Envenom (pool energy before Envenom for more Fan of Knives casts). Links:Tortos Strategy Megaera Useful talents: Elusiveness (Lower rampage damage)Useful glyphs:Glyph of Smoke Bomb Glyph of Feint Tips and Tricks: Elusiveness with Glyph of Feint works pretty well on Rampage. Keep Feint up during Rampage. Cloak of Shadows works for Rampage, removing Cinders and prevents from Acid Rain damage at any range. Glyph of Smoke Bomb helps your raid to sustain during Rampage. Use Smoke Bomb on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd rampage so you can use it twice in the fight. Don't use Shadowstep or Cloak and Dagger for optimal DPS as you'll be thrown away from the head and have to turn around to DPS again Links:Megaera Strategy Ji-Kun Useful talents: Cheat Death (While you can avoid most damage, sometimes a healer may not be able to reach you in time for Quills or an unlucky Caw can have you one shot, there is no real damage happening otherwise.) Shadowstep (Can be used for Down Draft and will also make it quicker to platforms as you can Shadowstep to the birds.) Useful glyphs:Glyph of Smoke Bomb Glyph of Feint Tips and Tricks: Shadowstep will allow you to jump to the hatchlings in the nests if you over/undershoot the jumps. Smoke Bomb will help healers for Quills in Melee range. If you are on the platforms, use it during Quills to help your healer. keep Feint up during Quills. Cloak of Shadows DOES NOT WORK FOR SOAKING POOLS you may want to consider either Elusiveness + Feint or Cheat Death to survive soaking pools if you start to get overran. During a Down Draft, use a well timed Sprint to make sure you stay on the platform and only use Shadowstep WHEN your tank arrives at the boss first, otherwise Ji-Kun will proceed to one-shot you. (Assassination) Try to line up Vendetta with the Primal Nutriment buff from Ji-kun's feed young for high damage. Links:Ji-Kun Strategy Durumu the Forgotten Useful talents:Elusiveness Burst of Speed (10-man) or Shadowstep (25-man) Useful glyphs:Glyph of Smoke Bomb Glyph of Feint Tips and Tricks:Keep Feint up when you're soaking beams at all times, you can even solo soak a beam in 10-man. Stand far away from the boss as he has a 30 yard hitbox and you don't want any Lingering Gaze void zones in melee as they will kill you in Phase 2. Burst of Speed will help you alot in 10-man as you have a higher chance of getting the red beam and it is alot faster if you have a sprint up for each red add, you can also use it in Phase 2 to make sure you're always ahead of the beam chasing you. It doesn't work so well in 25-man when you're very unlikely to get the red beam on you. Links:Durumu the Forgotten Strategy Primordius Useful talents: Leeching Poison (There isn't any big aoe or explosions and Leeching Poison will help out the healers alot more.) Marked for Death Useful glyphs:Glyph of Smoke Bomb Glyph of Feint Tips and Tricks:If you're on add duty, Marked for Death will work once every 10 seconds and is clearly the winning choice here. UseSmoke Bomb on yourself if you have the Volatile Pathogen debuff on you. Links:Primordius Strategy Dark Animus Useful talents: Elusiveness (You will be tanking an add and soaking AoE on the boss) Combat Readiness (You will be tanking an add, standard talent pretty much.) Useful glyphs:Glyph of Smoke Bomb Glyph of Feint Glyph of Evasion Tips and Tricks:You will be switching to many smaller adds, use Marked for Death for a quicker burst on many targets. Redirect the combo points fromthe final small add onto the boss so you can use Marked for Death again. Use Evasion on your add first and then use Combat Readiness/Feint combo, I was fine with just Evasion. Links: Iron Qon Useful talents: share your thoughts!Useful glyphs: share your thoughts! Shivvalry 1 Report post Posted March 6, 2013 My guild ran ToT last night and we went 4/12 (we will be continuing to clear it tonight and Thursday). I ran Assassination most of last night. After looking at how I did, I will make my tips based on how I should have done it. Jin'Rokh the Breaker: Assassination Talents: Elusiveness (Massive Lightning Storm damage reduction) Anticipation Glyphs:Vendetta Feint Smoke Bomb Tips:Save all cooldowns for the first pool. Smoke Bomb Lightning Storm (make sure you have it glyphed). Keep feint rolling during Lightning Storm. Try and pot at the start of a puddle when the boss is sub 35%. Horridon: AssassinationTalents: Leeching Poison Anticipation Glyphs: SameTips: Use Vendetta on Horridon only, adds die too fast for it to be worth it. Council of Elders: AssassinationTalents: Leeching Poison Level 90 talents depends on your raid. If you are on stun duty for Marli's adds, pick up Marked for Death. It is a quick 5 combo points that turn into a Kidney Shot. My raid had a Paladin on stuns, so I went with Anticipation. These are tips based on what I have experienced and what I feel is best. This was done on live realms on Tuesday, March 5th.

Balthazor 2 Report post Posted March 19, 2013 Jin'rokh the Breaker: Cloak of Shadows should be available during each Lightning Storm to negate the vast portion of the damage. You shouldn't need the ability otherwise, so save it for Lightning Storm. Feint can be used for the remainder of the Lightning Storm.
Kyok 1 Report post Posted March 19, 2013 Our guild tried Magaera for the first time today and this is what I found usefull for this fight: Elusiveness with Glyph of Feint works pretty well on Rampage. Cloak of Shadows works for Rampage, removing Cinders and prevents from Acid Rain damage at any range. Glyph of Smoke Bomb helps your raid to sustain during Rampage As for 4th talent tier none of them are necessary. Cloak and Dagger teleports you to the back of Head and bounce you back but you are not able to attack during this while. Both Assassination and Subtlety are strong on this encounter.
Crytole 1 Report post Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) Ji-kun: Shadowstep will allow you to jump to the hatchlings in the nests if you over/undershoot the jumps, Smoke Bomb will help healers for Quills in Melee range Cloak of Shadows DOES NOT WORK FOR SOAKING POOLS you may want to consider either Elusiveness + Feint or Cheat Death to survive soaking pools if you start to get overran For Assassination: Try to line up Vendetta with the Primal Nutriment buff from Ji-kun's feed young for uber 1337 deeps Edited March 20, 2013 by Crytole
McOwn 1 Report post Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) The following info is solely related to Heroic mode difficulty, on 25-man. Similarities may apply on 10-Man. Jin'rokh: Cloak of Shadows is the strongest ability you can possibly have here. If you pre-cast it when there is two seconds or less until Ionization casts, it will not apply the debuff to you so long as Cloak is still active on you. This makes Rogues incredibly strong on this fight, as it bypasses the main Heroic ability. Elusiveness is also incredibly useful, as is Glyph of Feint. It allows you to much more safely continue to DPS Jin'rokh during Lightning Storm. Should a stray Orb hit you, it'll do no more than 55k damage to you, a manageable amount, if you do not take more than one in conjunction with the extra lightning storm damage. Horridon: Regarding Horridon, the advice you present is very tailored towards Normal mode. Assuming you want Heroic info I have a few adjustments for you: Glyph of Cloak of Shadows is immensely strong for Dire Call. Assuming you have a Mass Dispell available on door one, good interrupts (or cleanses) on door two, proper disease removal on door 3 and effective decurising on door 4, which every guild doing the fight on heroic should have, you can mitigate the heavy damage from Dire Call greatly with this. Talented Elusiveness on top of that is also an excellent ability to have, both for Dire Calls but also if your tanks are struggling with noticing the AoE effects on the ground and moving accordingly. Door #3 in particular often has multiple frozen orbs that can be difficult to distinguish, because of the very high health on the Frozen Warlords. Depending on your setup, and how much cleave you can afford to put on Horridon, it's perfectly valid to use Vendetta and other such abilities to burst down one of the two Balcony adds that jump down together, to swiftly remove major contributors of difficulty on the encounter. You have also written Anticipation as the go-to L90 Talent for this fight. That is grossly a waste of damage. Marked for Death is clearly ahead here, Rogues just have to remember the 4CP+ finishers. The 2-Piece T15 set is very strong together with this talent. Lastly, you should make good use of Smoke Bomb on this encounter. These are all related to the 25-Man Version of Horridon, I cannot personally confirm if the timings are the same on 10-Man. Tiitch 4 Report post Posted March 24, 2013 I won't talk about heroic modes just yet but from a Combat perspective I can help out with a few. Magaera Talents: Elusiveness (Lower rampage damage)Glyphs:Feint Smoke Bomb Tips:Use Smoke Bomb on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd rampage so that you can use it twice in the fight. Keep feint up during Rampage at all times. Don't use Shadowstep or Cloak & Dagger for optimal DPS as you'll be thrown away from the head and have to turn around to DPS again Ji-Kun Talents: Cheat Death (While you can avoid most damage, sometimes a healer may not be able to reach you in time for Quills or an unlucky Caw can have you one shot, there is no real damage happening otherwise.) Shadowstep (Can be used for Down Draft and will also make it quicker to platforms as you can Shadowstep to the birds.) Glyphs:Feint Smoke Bomb Tips:If you are on the platforms, use smoke bomb during Quills to help your raid. Keep feint up during quills. During a Down Draft, use a well timed sprint to make sure you stay on the platform and only use Shadowstep WHEN your tank arrives at the boss first, otherwise Ji-Kun will proceed to one-shot you. Durumu The Forgotten Talents: Elusiveness Burst of Speed (10-man) or Shadowstep (25-man) Glyphs:Feint Smoke Bomb Tips:Keep feint up when you're soaking beams at all times, you can even solo soak a beam in 10-man. Stand far away from the boss as he has a 30 yard hitbox and you don't want any Lingering Gaze void zones in melee as they will kill you in Phase 2. It doesn't work so well in 25-man when you're very unlikely to get the red beam on you. Primordius Talents: Leeching Poison (There isn't any big aoe or explosions and Leeching Poison will help out the healers alot more.) Marked for Death Glyphs:Feint Smoke Bomb Tips:If you're on add duty, Marked for death will work once every 10 seconds and is clearly the winning choice here Use Smoke Bomb on your self if you have Pathogens debuff on you. Dark Animus Talents: Elusiveness (You will be tanking an add and soaking AoE on the boss.) Combat Readiness (You will be tanking an add, standard talent pretty much.) Glyphs:Feint Smoke Bomb Evasion Tips:You will be switching to many smaller adds, use Marked for Death for a quicker burst on many targets, redirect the combo points from the final small add onto the boss so you can use Marked for Death again. Aceydubs 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2013 Iron Qon: Shadowstep to safety behind teammates who are out of the Windstorm before you. Shadowstep to the boss or teammates when separated by fire/ice/electric lines. If you have any combo points to spare right before Windstorm pop Recuperate. basically 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2013 (edited) Iron Qon Talents: Elusiveness Feinting large amounts of damage on Ro'shak for Unleashed Flame, Windstorm damage on Quet'zel, and arguably most importantly, Fist Smash by Iron Qon in phase 4. Shadowstep and Burst of Speed are viable, mainly for use during windstorm. Shadowstep lets you teleport onto allies on the edge of the storm, Burst of Speed allows you to be more mobile in dodging tornadoes. (energy cost not a factor due to the boss being unable to be attacked during windstorm). Glyphs: Vendetta, Smoke Bomb, Feint. Vendetta for DPS, Smoke Bomb to make it a stronger P4 CD, and Feint to mitigate it's energy cost. Tips and Tricks: During phase transitions, Combo Points made on Iron Qon can then be redirected to the next dog. Cloak of Shadows removes the debuffs caused by spear toss in Phase 1-3 as well as protecting you from windstorm damage. On phase 3 be careful not to waste combo points on finishers into the boss's shield. Edited April 11, 2013 by basically
Dreamrogue 2 Report post Posted April 20, 2013 Been lurking these forums for a while and will be adding additional information if I ever can find. :) On our Ji-Kun try I found that you can dodge Quills, so using evasion during it will prevent most of the damage. Paired with feint and you wont take almost no damage at all.
