Rule Clarifications on Hearthstone's Yogg-Saron

Recommended Posts

The reveal yesterday of Yogg-Saron, Hope's End threw out many questions regarding the rules of the card. Redditor gamingdude295 has compiled a list of relevant questions and answers. Also on Reddit, adambard has created a Yogg-Saron simulator!

Yogg-Saron creates spells at random from all collectible spells in the format you are playing. These spells can target either hero and any minion, including itself, however if there is no legal target available for a given spell, then that spell will not be cast. If the chosen spell has an associated choice, the choice will be made at random. If Yogg-Saron kills itself, the Battlecry will still continue to resolve, but if it kills a hero, the game will end immediately.

Spells follow the rules as if your hero had cast them. This means that Demonfuse will give the opponent a mana crystal, and Dark Bargain will discard your cards. Despite this, Yogg-Saron is still casting the spells, so Lorewalker Cho, Trade Prince Gallywix, and Lock and Load will not trigger. (Although if YOU somehow cast a spell after Yogg-Saron casts Lock and Load, then that particular spell WILL trigger it.) Minions are also not effected. This means that Mana Wyrm does not get buffed from the spells, and Summoning Stone will not trigger. Hallazeal the Ascended DOES trigger however due to the slightly different wording of "your spells" rather than "you cast a spell".

Some odds and ends:

- If you happen to have any mana available, then Forbidden spells will use that mana.
- Wild Growth will result in excess mana being added to your hand.
- If you only played Yogg-Saron, Combos will NOT activate. If you play Yogg-Saron after another card, the combos will be active.
- Secrets played by Mysterious Challenger do NOT count towards Yogg's total spell count.

The Reddit thread itself contains all of the sources for the information.

At the time of writing, the Simulator page is down. That should become available as the high traffic to the page dies down.

Question: Imagine this scenario when Yogg-Saron casts shadowstep on himself. Will the spells it have cast count when i play him again? This might happen in many ways, as it may cast Echo of Medivh or Duplicate. Thank you.

Blizzard released the 17.2.2 client patch for Hearthstone to fix a bug related to the closed shop that occurred due to a missing runtime dependency.
      (Source)
We’re currently in the process of deploying a 17.2.2 client patch that will address the following items:
Fixed a bug that would cause a crash on mobile when clicking the eye to see who is spectating. Fixed a few various issues that would lock the game state when playing certain cards from hand. Fixed a bug where some players in Europe were only given the option of Warrior as their free deck after graduating the new player ranks. Fixed a bug where the shop would be closed when launching Hearthstone due to a missing runtime dependency. If the shop is still closed after updating to 17.2.2, try swapping to another region on the launcher and swapping back before opening Hearthstone again.
The incorrect Mana display bug for mobile users will be fixed in the next update.

Any updates on when the incorrect mana bug for mobile players will be fixed?
Hey! This will be fixed in our next major update.

A new blog post has been released, detailing a dozen card changes coming to the game on Monday 18th of May.
Shaman is getting some much needed help, since three of its cards will be buffed - although it is debatable if these buffs will be enough to move the class out of the bottom.
As far as the nerfs are concerned, two more Demon Hunter cards (who would have thought?) are getting toned down. Scavenger's Ingenuity, Shadowjeweler Hanar, Blackjack Stunner, Imprisoned Scrap Imp, Bloodboil Brute, Bloodsworn Mercenary are also getting tweaked.
Nerfed cards will be eligible for a refund until June 1st.
The patch also brings a bug fix for Ethereal Conjurer, which was causing the game to lock by not offering any Discover options.
Don't forget you can grab a free Nemsy until May 19, as part of Patch 17.2.0.
