Auriel, Archangel of Hope joins the Nexus on August 9. Here's a preview of her abilities.

Now that Gul'dan's live, it's time to look at Auriel, Archangel of Hope that is targeted for release on August 9. What we know thus far from the leaks is that she has an ability to resurrect an ally. All of her abilities are now available and you can preview them below.

Please note that ability descriptions may be inaccurate and can change at any given stage of the dev process so take them with a grain of salt.

Auriel Abilities

Trait

kGcjEDI.jpg

  • Bestow Hope
    • Gather Hope stacks whenever Auriel deals damage with Angelic Sweep or Auriel's allies deal damage under the effect of Angelic Flight. A maximum of 50 Hope stacks can be stashed. Hope stacks are used for healing.

Basic Abilities

30xd5MX.jpg

  • Ray of Heaven [Q] - costs 40 Mana, has no cooldown
    • Heal a target ally or near allies with 10 (+4% per level) for each stack of Hope.

PwP2SK1.jpg

  • Angelic Sweep [W] - costs 60 Mana, 8 second cooldown
    • Deals 200 (+4% per level) damage to all enemies caught in the cone between her ribbons. Non-heroic enemy hit grants 2 stacks of Hope and Hero hits grant 6 stacks of Hope.

pnpUArr.jpg

  • Restraining Blow [E] - costs 50 Mana, 14 second cooldown
    • Knockback a target, dealing 95 (+4% per level) damage, revealing them for 4 seconds. If the target collides with terrain, they will be stunned for 2 seconds.

Secondary (Active) Abilities

YDW2Yp3.jpg

  • Angelic Flight (Key 1), 45 second cooldown
    • Activate to teleport to an ally, buffing him for 3 seconds. While under the effect of Angelic Flight, friendly allies grant 5 stacks of Hope for each 50 damage dealt.
    • The buff's effect will be chosen in Level 1 talents.
    • This ability may very well be used instead of a mount.

Heroic Abilities [R]

MPXCOEo.jpg

  • Resurrect [R1] - costs 80 mana, 80 second cooldown
    • Resurrect a downed ally near you to full Health within 4 seconds. If unsuccessful, the target ally will remain downed and will normally respawn.
    • Has a four second window interval, similar to Tyrael's timer before exploding.

GD0alAR.jpg

  • Ribbon Cocoon [R2] - costs 70 Mana, 80 second cooldown
    • Wrap a target ally in a healing cocoon for up to 5 seconds, healing him for 150 (+4% per level) Health per second. The ally cannot move and be targeted during the effect of this spell. You can cancel the ability by pressing the [R] key again.

Talents

Not much is known about talents yet, but here are those you pick at Level 1 to empower your aura. (Active Ability).

  • Angelic Light
    • Angelic Flight grants a target ally a shield of 300 (+4% per level) for 3 seconds. While under the effect, he grants Auriel 5 Hope stacks for each 50 damage dealt.
  • Angelic Bravery
    • Angelic Flight grants a target ally 30% Attack Speed for 3 seconds. While under the effect, he grants Auriel 5 Hope stacks for each 50 damage dealt.
  • Angelic Aura
    • Angelic Flight grants a targeet ally 50% ability damage reduction for 3 seconds. While under the effect, he grants Auriel 5 Hope stacks for each 50 damage dealt.

Morales was the last support that was added to the game, now it's time to add another one! Auriel's playstyle looks promising, what do you think?

Whole concept of Deal DMG / Heal DMG is fine and for currently argo teams suits well. 4 second Ressurect cast time... in teamfight hard to use in other cases pretty solid but not knowing lvl 20 talents is a little bit problematic to tell which ultimate is better. Second thing there are no corpses in HotS and with crazy ragdol models how the ressurection process will go is a big question. Third that addition ability teleport range. Map / half map  or shotter distance.. Anyway new support blood is always good. With Mediev "strange" kit this one seems fine.

I think they should add supports who are more utility/CC instead of just healing. Maybe make some heroes who are clearly inspired by for example Lion or Shadow Shaman from Dota 2 etc.

Oops! It seems that these abilities are just a theory concept/speculation and not the actual ones. Some guy had posted his theory concept on Heroesfire and a Korean site went ahead and presented them as the actual 'leaked Auriel abilities'.

The whole explanation of the incident can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/comments/4ss00g/explanation_about_auriel/

So, long story short, these are not Auriel's abilities.

Technically, Medivh was the latest support hero added to the game...

edit: my bad, I keep thinking Medivh was a support character, but he's listed as a specialist even though in game they monitor support stats and he plays more like a support...   whatever, so kinda the most recent support??

Not entirely true, while some information may be inaccurate, some abilities described here are even previewed in the in-dev video posted a while ago, while her Heroic has been leaked since May.

Technically even her trait is in place as it perfectly fits the latest Hero description from the latest PTR build.

  • Hero/Description/Auriel=A ranged Support whose healing capabilities are dependent on the damage she and her allies deal.

Of course, you need to take leaked information with a grain of salt...

The ability names and Auriel's description are definitely correct, since they were datamined. We also knew about the Resurrect and the previewed abilities in the in-development video. It's just the description of the rest of the other abilities that is made-up.

I actually made an article about Auriel's datamined abilities, but I messed up with the image formatting and it never made the front page hehe

It's not 4 second cast time, it's a 4 second window after the ally dies to ressurect them.

Doubt that, since the discription tells exacly the opposite. it ressurects the ally within 4 seconds, which means this is a 4 second cast time. Even if not it will have a cast time anyway cause  i dont believe in instant resurrect, everything that has some hard healing has cast timers or delays. Reghars Healing, Dehakas Adaptation and so on. That is proven by the second part of the ability description - if not succesful.... Means that there is a possibility to interrupt.

We present our fifth Heroes of the Storm Meta Tier List for the Genji patch of April 2017.
Our fifth Heroes of the Storm Meta Tier List for the month of April 2017 is here!
Welcome to Icy Veins's Meta Tier List for the Genji patch. The goal if of this list is to try and detail game's current metagame state. The prime goal of such lists is to inform players regarding popular and trending team composition drafting strategies (i.e. the drafting metagame). Although tier listings are generally the product of balance, many factors come into play when discussing the relative perceived strengths of heroes, including player regions, maps, play style, skill level, and, of course, personal perception. As such, any tier list - including this very one - should never be interpreted as gospel, but rather, as a guide to better grasp what to expect with regards to typical drafting experiences. One useful application of such lists is to allow you know which heroes to look out for in terms of practice and counterplay, ultimately improving your knowledge of the game.
      Using the list
As stated above, tier lists are easy to mistake for gospel. As new strategies are discovered and experimented with, so changes the perception of the relative strengths of each hero. Tier lists still prove to be useful as a snapshot of player expectations in terms of drafting. Although it is generally considered preferable to focus on high tier heroes (Prime and Core tiers), it is important to note that Heroes of the Storm's wild character and map designs make it so that any given hero's tier position is prone to fluctuate depending on the situation at hand.
One classic example of such is that of Kerrigan on the Infernal Shrines map. Although we currently judge her to be a mid-tier hero, her drafting priority shoots up to first-pick or first-ban material on this specific map due to the nature of its objective. Certain heroes also synergise so well with each other that the sole fact of having the opportunity of drafting them together is generally enough to increase their potential. Tassadar and Tracer, for instance, are generally nightmarish to deal with for many. There are too many examples of these interactions to reasonably produce here, but we invite you to consult our guides to know exactly where and when each hero shines. The guides have been linked in the lists below for your convenience - just click any of the hero names to access them.
If you're newer to the game, also consider visiting our glossary for a comprehensive list of discrete Heroes of the Storm terms.
Additionally, a + or - sign (or several of them) indicates short-to-medium term predictions (which is to say, about a month) for tier increase(s) or decrease(s), respectively. These may be updated after significant balance patches and/or when clear trends are emerging.

      Prime Tier
      - Prime tier heroes are considered to be extremely strong in all situations, and show no obvious weakness. They are very often banned or picked right away, as they generally dictate the pace of most matches.

      Core Tier
Warrior Assassin Support Specialist Anub'arak Falstad Lúcio↓ Nazeebo Arthas Gul'dan Malfurion↓ Sylvanas Dehaka Li-Ming Rehgar Probius↑↑ Diablo Ragnaros↓ Uther↑↑   Artanis↓ Samuro     Johanna Thrall     Sonya Valla     Varian (Tank) Zeratul     Zarya       Muradin↑       Core tier heroes are strong in a wide variety of situations and have few counter-picking possibility. They should form the core of your team, and be picked after Prime Tier heroes have been distributed.

      Viable Tier
Warrior Assassin Support Specialist Chen Alarak Auriel Azmodan↑ E.T.C.↓ Chromie Brightwing↓ Gazlowe Leoric Genji (new) Kharazim   Rexxar Greymane Li Li↑      Jaina↓ Lt. Morales     Kael'thas Tassadar↓     Kerrigan       Lunara       Raynor       The Butcher↑       Valeera       Varian (Damage)       Zul'jin     Viable tier heroes are generally well-rounded that have either fallen out of favour, or, inversely, are on the rise in popularity, due to the current Prime tier contenders.

      Niche tier
Warrior Assassin Support Specialist Cho'gall Cassia (new) Tyrande+ Abathur Stitches Cho'gall   Medivh Tyrael Illidan   Murky   Nova   Sgt. Hammer   Tracer   The Lost Vikings   Tychus   Xul       Zagara Niche tier heroes have niche application on certain maps or for certain team compositions. They are generally picked to "round out" your team composition when your team composition is missing out on key components, such as a "jungler" (mercenary camps), a solo laner, or solid waveclear.

      Bottom Tier
      - Bottom tier Heroes are deemed to be either considerably weaker than the majority of other Heroes, or much more challenging to play properly. Although they may situationally shine, these Heroes are generally avoided by most players.

      Monthly metagame assessment
It seems I'll have to remove two tiers for our next tier list because the game is probably in the most balanced state it's ever been. Here's to hoping it'll last because such states are great for experimenting with team compositions without feeling like you're missing out on picking or banning that one overpowered guy. What might be the cause of such a state, though? On one hand Blizzard has been (relatively) steady with the nerfs. On the other hand - and I feel this is the most important reason here - there has been an overload of e-sports, notably with HGC, to teach players how to draft.

There isn't all that much to say today, so I'll go over the new heroes and some of the more notable bounces. Cassia's a good pick against melee-assassin-heavy team compositions, especially if your team is running their own blinding effects for that extra synergy, but she doesn't really fit in a meta that's looking to be defined by warriors and supports. This is mostly due to her limited sustained damage and keen vulnerability to crowd control. Niche tier.
Genji's looking balanced to me, though he is very difficult to play well, and tends to be quite counterable. On top of this, since he's an Overwatch fanboy favourite, I think his win rates are going to start out really low until we have braved the initial wave of juvenile excitement that drowns him. It should be noted that two of the heroes he does really well against - Tracer and Tychus - are both out of meta themselves, meaning he might not find a place until they do. With abysmal waveclear and mercenary camp claiming, I can't really justify picking him over some of the other melee assassins. Still a good Genji is a good Genji, and the hero's surprisingly fun. Viable tier, barely.
